Main purposes of the job:
Sound Minds and Canerows are delivering an exciting project which is about offering peer support across Wandsworth to people who are experiencing mental health difficulties and living in the community. We are working in an alliance with Mushkil Aasaan and Wandsworth Carers Centre.
Mental Health Peer Support gives emotional support and promotes access to information and practical advice to people experiencing mental health difficulties. A key component is that these staff use their own direct lived experience of mental health difficulties to support other people. They work collaboratively with people within their service, focusing on the person’s strengths and personal resources to offer educational, emotional and practical support towards goals that are defined by the person.
The Peer Support Worker will be supported through peer support training and regular supervision.

It is run by a team of project workers, under the Director, who are responsible for its smooth operation. Job Purpose
This role sits within our crisis alternative service, Safe Space, which is a core and out of hours service providing a safe and welcoming space for people who are feeling distressed and experiencing crisis. Our aim of the service is to keep individuals well in the community and prevent readmission into hospital. The service operates 365 days a year from 14:00-22:00pm across all of our boroughs.

We are recruiting for Senior Paediatric Palliative Care Nurse (Band 6) to help lead and be part of our Care Team at our peaceful, woodland hospice.
This is a wonderful opportunity to work in partnership with hospitals and community nursing teams to deliver care to a range of children and young people with a variety of complex health conditions. As well as providing clinical care, you will also develop play and recreational activities to provide appropriate stimulation to the children in your care. We will support you in your learning and development and there is the potential to gain experience in outreach work.
As a Senior Nurse you will be a team leader to a small group of nurses and HCAs (Play and Care Workers), taking responsibility for line management. You will lead your team in acting as key workers to a small caseload of service users and act in a link role allocated to the team, for example Infection Control or Clinical Audits. You will be managing shifts, providing leadership to the team to ensure that all care is delivered in accordance with Richard House policies and procedures.
We are looking for someone who is empathetic and resilient, can work under pressure, and can communicate sensitively with our families and colleagues. Experience managing junior nurses and leading shifts is essential. It would also be great if you have a mentorship qualification and experience dealing with children with challenging behaviour.
Based in the multi-cultural borough of Newham, we operate a vital 24/7 service. Shifts are 11.5 hours across weekdays and weekends. We require applicants to be available to work weekday shifts as well as weeknights, weekends and bank holidays.

Campbell Rd Young Peoples service provides support and housing for 55 young people in Tower Hamlets that are either leaving care of affected by youth homelessness. The Support Worker role will be to manage a caseload of approx 7-10 young people.
This role's shift work on a 7 day rolling rota.

- Building supportive, trusting relationships with customers
- Working proactively with other members of the team to handle the service caseload and administrative responsibilities

Under the direction of the Service Management Team, you will lead the coordination of targeted interventions, including brief interventions, group work, and assertive outreach, aimed at individuals and groups at risk of harm from substance misuse. - Lead on the coordination and delivery of the service’s prevention, early intervention, targeted education offers, and youth settings.
- To increase visibility and accessibility of the service amongst children, young people, families, and partners with the aim of increasing referrals into service for specialist support.

- Reducing drug and alcohol related harm to service users and the wider community.

- You have experience working with young people, with knowledge of the issues they face.
- Knowledge of safeguarding concerns and guidelines in relation to children and young people and the Fraser Competence framework.
- You have a good understanding of drug and alcohol issues and be able to speak about this publicly.
- Knowledge of working with evidence-based practice around young people’s substance misuse treatment services and methods.
- Confident and strong communication skills; verbal and written.

About Us
akt is the UK’s national LGBTQ Youth Homelessness charity. We provide safe homes, mentoring, and support to ensure that no young person needs to choose between a safe home and being who they are. 24% of young people facing homelessness in the UK identify as LGBT (National Scoping of LGBT Youth Homelessness, akt, 2015) and 78% of LGBTQ+ young people cited an absence of family support (The LGBTQ+ Youth Homelessness Report, akt, 2021). The charity was founded in 1989 and operates service centres in London, Manchester, Newcastle, Bristol and works online through a Digital Service to offer support to young people outside of our four office regions. akt works with over 800 vulnerable young people a year providing both face to face and online assistance.
Overview
This is an exciting opportunity for a Housing Support Worker to join our new Supported Housing Scheme in Lambeth, an LGBTQ+ supported housing service with six units for young people aged 18-21 years. The service is due to open in late May 2025 and is part of a three-year funded joint project with Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing Association and Lambeth Council. The role is part of the Services team and is supervised by the Supported Housing Manager. Other members of the team include another part time Housing Support Worker and a part-time Youth Engagement Coordinator.
Please note this is a part time vacancy working 17.5 hours per week. The pro rata salary for hours worked is £15,257.50 (£30,515 full time equivalent). Hours will be worked on a Week A / Week B rota basis, Monday to Sunday between 10am and 8pm.
Job Summary
In this role you will be responsible for supporting residents to reach their goals and aspirations and move on to independent living. This will involve:
- Supporting young people – building positive and affirming relationships, co-producing holistic strengths-based support plans, coaching and supporting young people with independent living skills and providing them with advice, guidance and support.
- Safeguarding and risk management – working in partnership with Social Services to support young people to keep themselves safe, attending strategy meetings and implementing associated action plans, creating and upkeeping evidence-based risk management plans.
- Service delivery and development – record keeping contributing to KPI tracking, contributing to the development of best practice around supporting LGBTQ+ young people across Lambeth, ensuring young people’s experiences and voices are centred with an emphasis on co-production.
- Partnership working – championing and prioritising residents’ intersectional needs, partnership work with young people and key partner agencies to support young people to achieve their goals.
- Case recording and information management – accurate and timely updating of records, maintaining high standards of safeguarding, protecting personal and confidential information.
- Property and Housing management – creating a safe, welcoming and psychologically informed home environment for young people, where their safety and wellbeing is at the centre of everything you do, and their LGBTQ+ identities are celebrated.
