The purpose of this role is to provide leadership, oversight and curation to the FYT Leadership Team, and to lead the smooth running of the FYT Organisation which supports the wider FYT Movement. This will include coordinating the delivery of the strategic plan, leading fundraising, and working closely with the FYT Board to oversee the smooth running of the organisation.

Hours: 22.5 hrs per week
Salary: £24,116 per annum (£40,194 pro rata) + 9% pension
Holidays: 5 weeks plus bank holidays and 3 additional days at Christmas
Location: Working from home, with nationwide travel expected

Key Responsibilities:

2. Lead the FYT staff team – supporting, supervising, enabling and encouraging and ensuring appropriate HR functions are carried out. 
3. Lead the fundraising strategy for the organisation, giving attention to securing grants, as well as donor fundraising . Report as necessary to funders.
4. Work with the Finance Officer to manage the budget and finances within the parameters agreed by the Board.
5. Facilitate the effective function of the Leadership Team, enabling the smooth and efficient carrying out of the strategic priorities.
6. Provide Line Management support and supervision to the other members of the Leadership Team.
7. Develop, implement and monitor FYT’s strategic plan in partnership with the FYT team and board
8. Engage in practical theological reflection on FYT’s mission and how it is expressed.
9. Attend and contribute as required to Board meetings, working closely with the Chair and Board to ensure that appropriate issues are raised, and that any agreed action is put into effect.
10. Be an advocate for marginalised young people, the issues they face, and youth workers and projects working with them (pursuing prophetic mischief, provocation, and taking up our unique space in the youth ministry community).
11. Make links with appropriate Christian, voluntary and statutory bodies and to represent FYT in appropriate forums and pursue opportunities for collaborative working.
12. Support the active promotion of the FYT training and resource offer.
13. Lead the monitoring and evaluation (impact assessment) of FYT’s work

Other functions:

1. Meet regularly with Line Manager for supervision.
2. Undertake administration and keep necessary work records.
3. Comply with all FYT policies and procedures.
4. Work collaboratively with the FYT leadership team and Board to ensure that organisational policies are regularly reviewed.
5. Engage in CPD/lifelong learning.
6. Undertake any other tasks that may be requested, commensurate with the nature and level of the post and as may be required by the Board of Trustees.

Additional Information

• The Leadership Team is supported by a contract with Giraffe HR that assists in the day to day running of the organisation, primarily managing the finances of the organisation.
• Engagement in ongoing, regular youth work with marginalised young people is not a requirement of this post, but encouraged. FYT will be flexible where possible in order to facilitate this.

The Finance & Governance team handle all matters concerning Diocesan and Cathedral finance including the administration and collection of parish share, paying invoices and expenses, budgeting, annual statutory, management accounts, clergy stipends, staff salaries, advice to parishes on parochial finance matters. 

This role covers the full range of work in an accounting system dealing with input to and output from all ledgers with specific responsibility for the administration of parish shares and fees including the issuing of regular statements to parishes. The purpose is to ensure that the accounting system has accurate and timely financial data which is available to those who require it either for decision-making or for external reports and accounts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Purchases and payments:

o Log purchase invoices into the finance system, check that documentation is complete and correct.

o Save all back-up and authorisations for purchase invoices in appropriate files and ensure these are well managed and easily navigable.

o Request and reconcile supplier statements.

o Maintain a log of all direct debits and regular payments to ensure that invoices are received and processed in the appropriate accounting period

o Download and distribute credit card statements to holders and process payments on the finance system. Follow up on missing documentation or non-compliance.

o Ensure finance policies are followed for the set up of new suppliers.

o Assist with finance training for new and existing administrative staff.

o Manage and act on queries sent to purchase ledger inbox in a timely and courteous manner.

o Deputise for the Purchase Ledger Clerk as appropriate. In their absence, upload payments on the bank and send out notifications to staff allocated to carry out checks and authorisations.

• Month end support:

o Reconcile bank accounts for the main entity and subsidiaries.

o Check ledgers for missing costs.

• Compliance & Audit:

o Assist with year-end audit, providing supporting documentation to auditors.

o Support the finance team with other ad hoc tasks, such as posting journals.

Key Requirements:

• Qualifications:

o AAT Level 3/4 or equivalent professional qualification or qualified by experience

o GCSE in English and Mathematics at grade C or above.

o Excellent IT skills including advanced knowledge of excel and good all-round knowledge of Microsoft Office.

• Experience:

o Proven experience as a Purchase Ledger Assistant or in a similar financial role, ideally within the healthcare, social care, or similarly regulated sector.

o Competent in the use of medium/large accounting packages and systems.

o Understanding of financial ledgers and of control accounts and reconciliations.

o Previous experience in care homes, retirement villages, or the broader healthcare sector is advantageous but not essential.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

Strategic leadership and management

Reporting to the CEO, and working closely with the Management Team and the Board, the Director of Finance & Governance will have responsibilities to:

• Work collaboratively with Management Team colleagues to provide operational leadership and development for the whole organisation, building our capacity and capability to deliver our strategy. 
• Work with the CEO to develop robust governance systems and infrastructure that will strengthen accountability, and support growth and deliver impact.
• Lead, manage and develop the Finance Team supported by the Senior Finance Manager.

• Conduct strategic financial planning to support the decision making of the Management team, Board sub-committees and the Board, and report to the Board as appropriate working with the Executive Team Assistant in this regard.

• Oversee and regularly review and update the organisational risk register, including financial and governance risks..
• Act as strategic lead on processes, systems development and internal controls.

Finance oversight and leadership

• Oversee all aspects of finance to enable effective day-to-day running of the Helen Bamber Foundation group and to support the continuous improvement of employee experience.
• Finalise annual financial statements/periodic financial reports (where required), and provide them to the CEO, Board and Board subcommittees for consideration and approval.
• Lead on the Helen Bamber Foundation Group audit process, working with the external auditors.
• Ensuring all statutory and non-statutory reporting requirements are met.
• Lead on budgeting and reforecasting across the organisation, supporting and challenging other teams to predict income and expenditure and make sound financial decisions, presenting to the Board and Board subcommittees.
• Support organisational planning by developing the systems to enable teams to model potential future work - e.g. costs of expansion of an existing programme or modelling potential new programmes and projects.
• Oversee the production of management accounting information, including internal monthly management accounts, quarterly reports for the Board, and financial reports for funders. Develop, maintain and monitor the financial systems of the organisation to ensure the accurate & timely production of these reports.
• Ensure compliance with agreements and contracts in relation to banks and external service providers.
• Monitor and report on the overall funding status, and ensure the timely reporting on grants is well supported.

• Support the preparation of applications for fundraising. Conduct financial analysis and review of existing and proposed strategic programmes, projects, and campaigns, contributing to decision making in this area.

• Oversee staff payroll, handling of petty cash and banking of donations, management of activity fees and credit control process.

Governance

• Work with the CEO and Executive Team Assistant to ensure that governance arrangements are fit-for-purpose, compliant and embody the spirit of partnership which defines the Helen Bamber Foundation Group.
• Support the Board and Board sub-committees, producing papers, and monitoring actions.
• Manage the organisational risk register including updating and monitoring of actions and Board discussions.
• Work with the Board to continue the development of outstanding governance policies and practices.
• Work with the CEO to develop and evolve the induction and training schedules for Trustees.
• Act in the capacity of Company Secretary.

Additional duties

• Act at all times as an ambassador for the Helen Bamber Foundation Group representing us at internal and external events.
• Perform any other task assigned by the CEO or Board.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

 Experience

• A relevant professional qualification in accountancy (CIMA, ACA, ACCA, CIPFA) or substantial relevant finance experience.
• Track record of achievement in a senior strategic-level financial management role.
• Demonstrable financial leadership and a thorough understanding of best practices in setting and managing budgets and oversight of day-to-day financial management.
• Experience of preparing financial statements, consolidated accounts and seeing through the audit process from start to finish, including dealing with external auditors.
• Proven track record of building, developing and managing teams.
• Demonstrable experience in working successfully as part of a senior leadership team.
• Experience of managing change and growth.
• Knowledge and experience of charity finance would be an advantage.
• Experience of operating at a senior level within a role which requires an organisation-wide, cross-functional perspective on issues, challenges and opportunities would be an advantage.

The role of Head of Communications and PR at the Society of Authors oversees the strategic communications for the UK’s leading author body – with many exciting and important stories to tell.

Responsible for all aspects of the SoA’s external communications, you will develop integrated communications and campaign strategies that reflect our values of being member-focused, authoritative, supportive, and inclusive of all UK authors.

You will be proactive about promoting, protecting, and campaigning on authors’ interests through strategic communications and campaigns. You will work collaboratively with the Policy and Public Affairs team, and with all departments at the Society of Authors (SoA). The Head of Communications and PR will focus on developing and delivering strategies to raise the SoA’s profile, influence, and visibility. 

We are looking to recruit a new Fundraising Coordinator who believes in our vision that there should be “No Street Called Home” for children living on the streets in Uganda and who wants to help us to grow this impact and further change children’s lives.

This is a 2.5 day a week role which would be perfect for someone looking for a flexible job that makes a big social justice impact. EXPERIENCE:

Essential:

• Educated to degree level or above or at least three years’ work experience
• Demonstrable fundraising work experience: minimum two years, ideally with experience of trust fundraising.

• Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to identify funding opportunities and assess their suitability
• Excellent IT Skills including a wide range of software packages such as Excel, Word etc

• Knowledge of Uganda and its culture, particularly if you have spent time there.

Job Title: Executive Administrator 

Location: Central Office which is based around a 10 minute walk from Highbury and Islington Station. Hybrid working available, approximately 2 - 3 days per week in the office including every Tuesday. Additional office, service, and away days would be required for attendance.

About the role

We're looking for an Executive Administrator to join our central office team, reporting to the Director of Finance and Resource. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in providing high-level administrative and governance support to various leaders within the organisation, including the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), The Board, and CEO. 

In this role, you will ensure the smooth operation of coordinating meetings, managing governance processes, and supporting strategic initiatives. You will facilitate board and SLT meetings, including scheduling, preparing agendas, taking formal minutes, and ensuring a timely follow-up on actions, whilst overseeing compliance with health and safety regulations, supporting the organisation's environmental strategy.

You will further line manage a small team of 2 Administrative Support Officers who support with the day to day administration and management of our central office.

About you

This role is ideal for someone who is organised, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced organisation. You will be a proactive problem solver with excellent communication skills, both verbally and written. You will be able to organise and manage events and away days, as well as manage our booking systems and general running. You will have proven minute taking experience, able to write minutes for meetings in an organised manner, and manage our shared online platforms for ease of access, and usability. You will have:

• Experience in high level administration duties, ideally within a similar role, supporting senior leadership teams and boards with all areas of administration
• Previous experience taking minutes in meetings
• IT Proficiency: Knowledge, skills, and ability to learn and manage online systems, particularly Microsoft programs, able to book and manage meetings using outlook and teams
• Excellent numeracy and financial skills, with the ability to deliver best practice in financial management and produce accurate and timely financial information
• Ability to write reports, manage data, and oversee audit processes to a professional, high business standard
• Ability to work with confidential information in a timely secure manner

The Assessment and Data Administrator role is responsible for assisting with online assessment systems to ensure that full compliance of awarding organisations requirements are adhered to. To be considered for this role, the successful candidate must have previous experience of working with IT and online learning platforms and be confident in managing the breadth of tasks within this function.
