Headway Gloucestershire was established in 1987 and since then we have been working to make a positive difference to the lives of adults with an acquired brain injury. We provide specialist recovery support and respite through our centre based Day Service and outreach support through our Community Links Service. We provide group and one to one sessions to support individuals.

Open every weekday, Headway House is at the heart of Headway Gloucestershire.  We provide a structured programme of activities for individuals to choose from. Our programme is designed to support participants to work toward their own recovery goals and gain insight into strategies that support individuals to manage the physical, cognitive, sensory, emotional and behavioural outcomes which can occur following an acquired brain injury. Peer group sessions enable us to harness the recovery benefits of peer contact and support.

We have been successful in receiving three years of funding to deliver services in up to five locations in Gloucestershire and are recruiting a part-time Support Worker to support the delivery of our Hubs – to meet and support the recovery needs of individuals with acquired brain injury in their community. The Support Worker will be responsible for the delivery of group sessions designed to support individuals with acquired brain injury work toward their recovery goals. Responsibilities include: -

• To deliver professional, impartial, enabling and outcome focused support to Individuals with acquired brain injury. To provide support for clients with complex needs to support their recovery, wellbeing, independence and autonomy.
• Supporting the Hub Lead to schedule, develop and deliver sessions.
• Provide Key-working to individuals: - to use an enabling approach to support individuals to plan and work toward their recovery goals ensuring that planned activities are delivered and support is tailored to meet the needs of each individual survivor to maximise our contribution to their recovery.
• Providing cover at Headway House where required.
• Ensure that safeguarding training and understanding is kept current and that individuals are safeguarded.

Primarily carrying out the role in community Hubs, you will work to clearly established quality standards. You will be joining a motivated and dynamic team of staff and volunteers working to making a difference to individuals with acquired brain injury in Gloucestershire.

They  support families of different ethnicities and families living in poverty, helping our service be as accessible as possible.

Our FSWs work closely with our Therapists, Counsellors, Social Workers, Transition Team and our Care Events Team. Weekly MDT meetings bring the team together to think of ways to help families in crisis. The work is varied and creative, taking place at the hospices, in family homes and hospitals, allowing the support to be where the families need it. Our Family Support Workers are hugely appreciated by the families we support.

The ambition of our strategy is to ensure every family affected by a life-limiting condition, or the sudden death of a child, has access to the specialist care that they need. Day to day duties are:

· Being the on-site duty FSW, welcoming families on site, monitoring email inboxes and answering the Family Support Line.

· Helping with support groups and family events

· Providing on the spot emotional support, sometimes in a crisis where a calm and supportive response is required.

· Visiting newly bereaved families in their homes.

· Supporting families staying at our Christopher’s hospice (booked stays and end of life).

· Attending various locations over the course of a week: hospice, hospital, family homes.

· Building connections with families from different backgrounds, delivering culturally sensitive care.

· Helping safeguard families at risk of harm.

· Acting as an ambassador for Shooting Star’s Specialist Bereavement Service, supporting other care team members with their learning and delivery of the bereavement pathway, and continually seeking ways to improve what we offer families.

The post holder will need to have a UK driving license.

The hours are predominantly worked 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Twice a month, the FSW will work a weekend day (with advance notice). This is in place of a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday that week.

As a Community Support Worker, you will work alongside the Community Hub Service Manager, providing frontline support to individuals and families who come to the Makery for help. This role requires proven experience in safeguarding, crisis intervention, and advocacy, as well as the ability to risk assess and respond appropriately to a range of situations.

Applications will not be considered without relevant Safeguarding experience and training, and proven track record of working in a community support role (not domicilary care)

Your responsibilities will include:

• Frontline Support & Safeguarding

• Providing immediate crisis support, signposting, and making referrals to specialist services.

• Acting as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), handling safeguarding concerns and ensuring individuals are safe.

• Conducting risk assessments to determine the most appropriate support for individuals.

• Offering mental health first aid, de-escalating crises, and providing practical guidance to those in distress.

• Having a strong understanding of MARAC (Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conferences) and how they function, though referrals will be handled by the manager.

• Community Support & Advocacy

• Engaging with individuals facing issues such as homelessness, addiction, domestic abuse, bereavement, and mental health struggles.

• Providing information, advice, and guidance (IAG), helping individuals navigate support systems and access appropriate resources.

• Advocating on behalf of individuals to ensure they receive the help they need from local services.

• Working to break isolation and loneliness by offering time, conversation, and emotional support.

• Teamwork & Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Working alongside the Community Hub Manager to ensure a smooth-running service.

• Supporting volunteers, engaging in community outreach, and building relationships with external organisations.

• Being hands-on in the hub, whether that’s making a cup of tea, preparing a meal, or simply offering a listening ear.

• Helping to maintain a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for all visitors.

We are looking for a compassionate, experienced, and adaptable individual who:

• Has proven experience as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), including handling referrals and working with safeguarding protocols.

• Holds mental health first aid training and has strong knowledge of risk assessment and crisis intervention.

• Has direct experience working with individuals facing domestic abuse, addiction, homelessness, or mental health challenges.

• Understands information, advice, and guidance (IAG) and knows how to advocate for individuals in need.

• Has experience working in a community support setting with vulnerable individuals.

• Is a team player, willing to support colleagues, volunteers, and visitors in any way needed.

• Can remain calm and professional in unpredictable situations and respond appropriately.

• Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a non-judgmental approach.

• Can work flexibly and adapt to the changing nature of the role.

Qualifications and Experience (Essential):

• Educational Background: Possession of an NVQ Level 3 or 4 in fields such as Mental Health, Community Work, Psychology, Youth Work, or other related disciplines.

• Safeguarding Certification: Holding a Level 3 or 4 Safeguarding certification, qualifying them to serve as a Designated Safeguarding Lead.

• Professional Experience: Demonstrated experience in community engagement, mental health support, or outreach work, specifically within community settings rather than traditional care environments.

• Skill Set: Proficiency in applying safeguarding measures, trauma-informed care approaches, and mental health support strategies.

• Community Engagement: Proven ability to support vulnerable individuals, engage effectively with diverse communities, and implement programs that promote mental well-being.

This is a hybrid role with one day per week at our office address of School 360, Sugar House Lane, Stratford, E15 2QS. The other two days can be worked from home and/or for community visits as needed across the London Borough of Newham

About the role:

When a family member sustains a spinal cord injury it is a life changing experience for the whole family. They can feel very isolated and that no one understands what they’re going through.

Back Up’s Family Support Service is there to help. We enable a wide range of family members of all ages whose loved one is affected by spinal cord injury (SCI) to improve their wellbeing, build a support network and transform their lives through Back Up’s services. 

The Family Support Coordinator will assist in supporting family members on an individual basis as well as in group settings as appropriate, together with providing support in the process of identifying, recruiting and training new family support volunteers.

A Family Support Coordinator will be comfortable and efficient with data management and GDPR compliance.

Lived experience of having a relative with SCI is essential, together with sharing our commitment to transform the lives of everyone affected by spinal cord injury.

Peer support Workers hold a key position in the Trafford Living Well service, working with individuals and groups, to help people to reach their individual recovery goals.

Who are we?

London Gypsies and Travellers (LGT) is an organisation that challenges social exclusion and discrimination, working for change in partnership with Gypsy, Roma, and Traveller people. We work with families across London Boroughs, including those living on council caravan sites, roadside camps, in bricks and mortar housing, and those experiencing homelessness.

Our Bright Futures programme offers mentoring and skills support to young Gypsy, Roma, and Traveller people aged 15–25 years. Through tailored one-to-one work, group activities and practical help, we support young people to build confidence, motivation and pride in their identity, while developing the tools they need to succeed in wider society.

What are we looking for?

We’re looking for a motivated and organised Youth Project Worker to support the delivery of Bright Futures. This is a varied role that combines project coordination, outreach support, administration, and direct engagement with young people.

You’ll help keep the programme running smoothly behind the scenes while also building trusted relationships with partner services and young people and families, supporting communications, and contributing to learning and reflection.

What will the role involve?

As a Youth Project Worker, you will:

• Support the day-to-day administration of the mentoring and employability programme, including record-keeping and report preparation
• Help coordinate communications activities such as creating new material, WhatsApp updates, and social media
• Maintain and grow referral networks with employers, training providers, and community organisations
• Engage directly with young people and their families to raise awareness and encourage participation
• Hold a light caseload of mentees and support mentoring activities as needed
• Contribute to programme monitoring, evaluation, and learning

About the Role

Do you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment where no day is the same This role requires using your initiative and proactive attitude than reactive.

You will also be working with women who are in trauma and can be in crisis requiring you to be empathetic but aspirational. You will provide advice and support to women who have experienced domestic abuse in a refuge setting, across the three sites.  You will carry out risk and needs assessments, develop support plans and carry out key work with women survivors. You will be expected to work in one of the three Refuges as part of your role

Job role tasks include:

• Support – Induction, Risk Assessments, Domestic Abuse, Mental Health, Benefits, Debt Advice, Move On, maintain accurate recording on Solace case management system and ensure regular reviews are carried out.
• Frontline delivery of support directly to service users.
• Repairs Identification/reporting/meeting contractors.
• Health & Safety – Basic observational H&S assessments and ensuring building compliance, flag risks in properties.
• Void inspections, basic void works – i.e. clean/clear, furniture, welcome packs. 
• Service Users Arrears & HB Claims and benefits - Identify arrears of concern & raise to Service Manager.
• Helping service users understand housing benefits/welfare benefits that are available to them. 
• Initial Safeguarding Reports.
• Deliver Clear Outcomes – contractual deliverables or Solace standards.
• Multi agency working involved with Service Users.

About You

The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of domestic abuse and its impact on women and their children, as well as experience of providing emotional and practical support to victims of domestic and sexual violence.  An in depth understanding of the needs of women and children from a diverse background is essential. 

You will have experience of managing risk and following case management procedures to meet the needs of the client group, with the ability to work with women to help them to understand their needs, risk assess, develop safety plan and support them in linking with other agencies.

You should have an understanding of the homelessness process, either professionally or personally. You will also have a working knowledge of the available legal remedies, housing and welfare benefits, as well as experience of providing workshops.

Outside of this, you will have excellent administrative and time management skills and the ability to effectively manage a caseload.

Overview
