About the Youth Endowment Fund
We’re here to prevent children from becoming involved in violence. We do this by finding out what works and building a movement to change things.
In recent years, violent crime involving children has increased. This is a tragedy. Every child is an important member of our community and society has a duty to protect them.
The Youth Endowment Fund (YEF) is a charity with a £200m endowment that exists to prevent children from becoming involved in violence. We will achieve this by finding out what works and building a movement to put this knowledge into practice. To make this happen we fund, evaluate, and then spread the very best work on reducing violence affected young people across England and Wales.
Central to all of this to is two key tasks: firstly, deciding which initiatives we should fund and evaluate and secondly, ensuring we do this excellently. Our Programmes Team is central to getting this done. This team is responsible for planning specific rounds of funding that will fill evidence gaps and identifying, assessing, funding, and supporting initiatives designed to prevent violence affecting young people. This way we build evidence on what works so that we can change national practice and policies.
Your main responsibilities will be ensuring that:
We have great relationships with the people who can make change happen.
This will include:
- Developing great relationships with senior policy makers, sector leaders and experts, including representing YEF in external meetings and speaking at events.
- Build a Strategic Advisory Board of leading experts across the health sector and keep members onside and excited about our work.

We deliver the health system recommendations.
This will include:
- Helping to identify the right recommendations at a system level (such as changes in policy, regulation, inspection, funding, or guidance) that make it more likely highly vulnerable children get access to the right support at the right time.
- Creating and delivering a plan to deliver the health system reforms, working closely with leaders to make the change happen.
- Tracking progress carefully, being thoughtful and creative about when and how to change the plan.
We work out the most effective ways to connect people with the evidence, then making those things happen.
This will include:
- Helping health leaders change how they plan or provide services to better protect children from violence, based on our Practice Guidance.

- Creating a plan to get people to follow our guidance, using what we know about how they think and behave.
- Continuously testing and improving our approach to get better results.

First-hand knowledge of the system that supports highly vulnerable children, particularly those at risk of or involved in violence. This includes children with conditions such as conduct disorder, psychosis, substance use disorder, ADHD, developmental language disorder, and traumatic brain injury. You understand the barriers these children face and what it takes to get them the right support.

Hybrid Working

Family Hubs are a central tenet of the Salford City Council’s Family Partnership Early Help Service, which was established in 2017. Following a full service review, redesign and, public consultation, Salford City Council’s Early Help services for children, young people and their families aged 0-25 (family support, children’s centres, youth service) were brought together and Children’s Centre sites were re-positioned as Family Hubs.
There are currently 4 Family Hubs in the city, offering integrated services and support for families at a neighbourhood, place-based level. The Family Hubs enable integrated delivery and co-location of services such as Salford City Council’s early help teams, 0-19 health teams, youth service teams, schools’ coordinators, school readiness advisors, Area Special Educational Needs Co-ordinators, early support key workers and portage workers.
The range of services delivered through the Family Hubs includes antenatal and postnatal support, child health, early help, relationship support, parenting support, SEND provision (neurodevelopment pathway, early support, and portage), adult and child mental health support (including parent, infant mental health). Salford City Council’s Family Partnership Early Help Service took the Family Hub model to the next level of development through co-production and participation with a focus on engagement with the VCSE sector and the development of a volunteering programme, this programme of work is delivered by Salford CVS.
As a result of the partnership with Salford CVS, there has been an expansion to the existing Family Hub network to include a range of VCSE sector organisations which has built the capacity to enhance the Family Hub offer and ensure that Family Hubs are sustainable and owned by the communities they are located within.

We are looking for a Domestic Abuse Support Worker to join our team and work within Manchester City Council’s multi-disciplinary Thriving Families Service. The role involves providing one-to-one support to adult victims / survivors of domestic abuse, within families where safeguarding concerns have been identified.
The role
In this role you will complete and regularly review risk and needs assessments with victims - survivors of domestic abuse. You will liaise with partner agencies, actively contributing to multi-agency plans and risk management / safeguarding procedures. You will carry out a large and varied range of practical support which may include safety planning, advocacy and explaining legal and civil options available. We also offer emotional support to those people we work with, encouraging and supporting them to rebuild lost confidence and self-esteem. Using a trauma-informed approach you will place the people we are supporting at the centre of your work.
About you
You’ll have a deep understanding of the nature of domestic abuse and its effects on clients and children.
Your knowledge extends to the range of statutory and voluntary agencies that clients and their children may encounter, and you are aware of the impact of domestic abuse on children and parenting, including the additional needs of clients from BMER communities.
You will have experience in working with clients on issues of domestic abuse, providing one-to-one support and advice, managing your own workload and administration, and assessing the safety needs of clients. You have handled safeguarding disclosures and referrals, and you communicate clearly with a range of people both over the telephone and in person.
You will be organised, able to use your initiative, and work effectively as part of a multi-service team. Your administrative skills are strong, and you are adept at using electronic case management systems.
Flexible and willing to work evenings, you can travel independently. Additionally, you have an understanding of the legal options available to clients, the child protection system, and services for those experiencing domestic abuse. Experience liaising with social workers and other professionals, and in related areas such as substance misuse, mental health, child protection, or family support, is desirable.
Fluency in an additional language and skills in group work are also advantageous. You stay updated with best practices and new initiatives.

Youth Activites Lead - Main Purpose of the job
To lead day to day operations providing a ‘hands-on’ management role to play & youth workers, oversight of external providers delivering activities to young people at Norbrook. Leading and implementing an enriching youth work curriculum, quality assurance and health and safety standards, providing outstanding outcomes young people. Working with external partners and attending partnership meetings.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
Leadership and Management:
1. Provide curriculum and quality assurance framework for youth work at Norbrook, providing a vibrant enriching offer for young people including youth voice and residential activities
2. Provide regular one-to-one support, coaching and appraisal of direct reports including Continuous Professional Development (CPD)
3. Support the centre self-evaluation process to inform GMYF Self Improvement Plan

Health and Safety:
1. Ensure centres meet health and safety standards/regulations including daily site checks, kitchen hygiene, risk assessments, fire drills, accident, and complaints logs
2. Provide clear guidance to centre staff and user groups on safe and compliant systems to ensure a safe, fit for purpose centre
3. Oversee all off-site trips and visits ensuring they are risk assessed, supervised, staff are briefed and staff understand their roles and responsibilities
4. Ensure a record of young people, staff and visitors on site is maintained
5. Manage a programme of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPE) ensuring centre remains compliant with current H&S requirements e.g. PAT testing, hygiene, shutters
6. Manage centre Assets Register
7. Hold responsibility for centres’ petty cash budget subject to approved limits
8. Line manage youth work team including Youthwork Lead
Curriculum/Safeguarding/Achievements:
1. To work with the Quality Assurance officer to plan and deliver an exciting and vibrant curriculum for children and young people, ensuring the needs of SEND are met
2. Maintain and update direct reports HR files
3. Approve and oversee the work of a range of support agencies to promote the well-being of children and young people e.g. Brook, Lifeline, NHS, Social Services
4. Lead and promote positive attitudes and high standards of performance for staff teams, using de-escalation skills to resolve issues in line with established policies
5. Set high standards for children and young people’s learning which support them to feel safe, ambitious, accepted and valued
6. Ensure recording of incidents, exclusions, interventions, actions taken on-site are managed in accordance with organisation policies and processes

Youth Worker Summary
We have two roles available, a full time youth worker role and a part time youth worker role 17.5 hours per week.
The role of a GMYF youth worker is to be young person centred, providing a nurturing, safe and supporting environment for young people, building and maintaining positive relationships with them. You will be based at Norbrook Youth Centre working with 9-16 year olds, mainly in the 4pm – 8pm period. You will support the Youth Activities Lead in planning and delivering a full programme centre-based activities, as well as supporting our outdoor adventure team with outdoor activities and residentials.
Main tasks and responsibilities
Key areas of focus will include:
· Supporting young people, building and maintaining positive relationships with and recognizing their different needs and starting points. Have strong commitment to the values of acceptance and respect within youth work and being a positive role model. Encourage young people to take an active role in social action projects, youth voice and young leader activities
· Assist the Youth Activities Lead, working together with the team in planning and delivery of full program offer, including evening youth club sessions and off site educational visits, including to our outdoor centre in Cumbria with occasional over night stays . Assist in the development and introduction of additional activities such as twilight sessions, youth voice, targeted group work and mentoring
· Identify formal and informal educational, social, cultural and recreational needs of the young people and help to plan a positive interventions and innovations which enhances the knowledge, awareness and personal development of young people
· Articulate and record young people’s progression in sessional and project recording documentation and provide information for management and funding reports.
· Attend occasional weekend residentials and events at the GMYF’s outdoor pursuits centre and encourage young people to get involved. Support the planning and delivery of off-site trips/activities at local venues
· Comply with all policies and procedures relating to safeguarding, codes of conduct, health and safety and equality and diversity. Be alert to issues of safeguarding and child protection, ensuring the welfare and safety of young people is promoted and prioritized. Report any concerns and participate in regular safeguarding training
· Represent GMYF at events and meeting with partner agencies. Ensure conduct is professional and represents the charity in a positive manner to internal and external visitors, working with a wide range of local partners and community organisations
· Commit to continuous professional development with own training, accessing available training including youth work specific courses
· Carry out all duties with the scope of the role as directed with due diligence and professionalism
About You
We are looking for candidates who believe in GMYF’s mission, values, and are experienced in working with young people. You will be able and confident in building positive relationships with young people, always taking a young person centred approach. You will have experience planning and delivering activities, bringing creative and innovative ideas to share for young people. We are seeking an individual to raise awareness of the Fund’s welfare offer amongst social welfare agencies across the West Midlands but also, crucially, to help address the issue of social isolation and feelings of loneliness experienced by some members of the RAF Family.
The post holder will be working with socially isolated individuals to identify meaningfully enriching opportunities to reduce feelings of loneliness, some of whom may have complex and challenging welfare needs, to develop actions plans and coordinate support to overcome any barriers preventing successful connection into these enriching opportunities, assisting them by identifying appropriate support from within the RAF Benevolent Fund and the wider statutory and military charity sector.
The successful candidate will have experience of working in a social welfare role supporting individuals, have strong people and relationship-building skills, as well as empathy with or understanding of the issues affecting the Armed Forces community. Individuals with a social prescribing or working aged veteran support background are encouraged to apply.
This is a community-based position working from home covering the West Midlands, delivering both remote and face to face support, ideally you will be based in Staffordshire or Shropshire. The candidate must have their own vehicle to use to travel around these regions. Occasional travel to London will be required. Job Description
The Senior Service Manager (SSM) provides strategic oversight of Redthread Services (currently working with 9 hospitals in London and Birmingham) providing line management to ensure high quality delivery that improves outcomes for children and young people and be successful in seeking opportunities for further growth. The SSM will work with the YPF SMT and will take a lead role in implementing our YPF strategy in this area, including taking and making opportunities to grow our services, and supporting new service implementation as need requires.
The role can be home based, but time spent in each of the services alongside travel across the UK will be required in order to support delivery and growth of services across the Hub. The ideal candidate will have experience of delivering and managing similar services and the right mix of leadership, passion and energy, and an innovative nature. A proven track record in engaging with positive relationships with commissioners and securing new business is essential. The role will involve promoting, connecting and building services in order to impact the lives of vulnerable young people with complex needs.
Duties and accountabilities are split into two core areas, management and development of Redthread service delivery, including direct management and coordination ensuring high performance that improves outcomes for children and young peopleand supporting implementation of the YPF growth strategy
- Line management of service managers and operational oversight of service contracts.
- Supporting the implementation of the YPF strategy, including making opportunities for organic and new growth. Work with Business Development and other business partners and engage Commissioners and other funders to develop our delivery models and to bid for services (organic growth and nationally).
- Supporting the implementation of the Clinical Governance policy and responsible for ensuring relevant services adhere to this guidance.
- Contribute to national stakeholder engagement plans and local, geographical influencer plans to promote our hospital based youth work offer and support growth.
- Ensure that staff and volunteers within services are engaged with Redthread’s vision and strategic plan, are motivated and understand their role and contribution to the wider organisation.
- Provide robust management and accountability for service budgets and in building budgets for new services working closely with Redthread’s finance business partner.
- Monitor and ensure that contractual commitments are met and that service performance is maximised; acting promptly to respond to and resolve performance and compliance issues. A core component of the role will be to ensure the confidence of our Commissioners including by assuring the quality of delivery, through Brilliant Basics audit, review, observation and ongoing service development.
- Ensure the provision of high quality reports for Redthread, commissioners and other strategic groups on the work of the services with clear evidence of quantitative and qualitative outputs – particularly signing off service commissioner reports / performance prior to external distribution.
- Ensure that services operate effective multi-agency working processes, such as referral, assessment and review and to ensure a high quality standard of lead professional, meeting chairpersonship and co-ordination from workers.
- Promote and support the participation of service users so that they are appropriately informed, consulted and involved in their own plans and the design and delivery of services.
- Be responsible for ensuring that all service activity is safe for all involved, to include adherence to Redthread’s health and safety policies including safeguarding, accidents, incident and injury reporting, fire safety and risk assessment. Review audit activity within services and work to ensure a consistent approach across services.

Qualifications
Professional qualification in a relevant discipline such as youth, community or management or demonstrable equivalent experience.
KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge and understanding of relevant current issues and research (including emerging trends youth violence work and associated areas of risk)
EXPERIENCE
- A proven track record of developing and managing projects in the public, private or voluntary sectors.
- Extensive experience of working with young people (11 – 18 years) and their families, identified as vulnerable or as having complex needs preferably within a community setting.
- Demonstrable experience of staff management including recruitment, induction, supervision and support.
- Proven track record in scoping and developing new business activity, including engaging and developing positive relationships with commissioners.
- Experience of preparing bids e.g service model development, articulating delivery within tenders - for significant projects/services and participation in the business development process e.g. responding to tender questions etc

The post holder will be working with socially isolated individuals to identify meaningfully enriching opportunities to reduce feelings of loneliness, some of whom may have complex and challenging welfare needs, to develop actions plans and coordinate support to overcome any barriers preventing successful connection into these enriching opportunities, assisting them by identifying appropriate support from within the RAF Benevolent Fund and the wider statutory and military charity sector.
The successful candidate will have experience of working in a social welfare role supporting individuals, have strong people and relationship-building skills, as well as empathy with or understanding of the issues affecting the Armed Forces community. Individuals with a social prescribing or working aged veteran support background are encouraged to apply.
This is a community-based position working from home but covering the Inverness, Moray and Aberdeenshire regions primarily, delivering both remote and face to face support. You will be responsible for overseeing operational programme design and delivery, reporting of progress, and measuring the impact of all Action for ME work to improve the lives of people affected by ME. Better meeting their needs today while taking action to secure change for tomorrow. You will also assist the Chief Executive in implementing the organisational strategy, and by adapting and evolving delivery models on the ground. As you will have operational management and oversight for our Healthcare Services and hold the Designated Safeguarding Lead role for the organisation, you will bring considerable services-related experience at a management and leadership level. The Chief Executive will focus predominately on external matters and therefore you must have experience of managing an organisation to achieve high quality programmes with evidenced impact and motivated teams. Key duties
1. Leadership
- Ensure that children and adults with ME are at the heart of everything we do through meaningful engagement and participation to influence all aspects of our work.
- Deputise for the CEO and represent and promote the Charity at national meetings and events.
- Deputise for the CEO during periods of absence, and in relation to specific matters, issues or elements of operation as delegated from time to time by the CEO, ensuring a consistency of approach and decisions aligned with the organisation’s objectives.
- With the CEO and HR Business Partner, lead on implementing the People and Culture Strategy and ensuring our Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging plan is achieved.

2. Operations & management

- Hold overall management responsibility for our Healthcare Services including the role of the CQC Nominated Individual, ensuring all regulatory requirements and compliance are met.

Person specification
Experience and Knowledge
- Proven experience in an operations, leadership, or senior management role, ideally within the charity service delivery or healthcare sector, with the ability to develop and implement strategic plans that drive organisational growth and reporting that demonstrates impact delivered. If you come from outside a support services background, you must demonstrate sound understanding of the regulatory and best practice requirements related to delivering support and/or healthcare services.
