The Role

What will I be doing?

As the Community Support Officer (Engagement and Volunteering), you’ll be at the heart of our work to build a vibrant, inclusive physics community. You’ll be the first point of contact for our volunteer-led Groups, Nations, and Branches — helping them to thrive, connect, and deliver meaningful activities that bring physics to life.

Your role will be varied, people-focused, and purpose-driven. You’ll:

• Support and empower volunteer committees with planning, elections, onboarding, and governance
• Design and deliver engaging training and resources to help volunteers feel confident and connected
• Celebrate and recognise contributions through awards, spotlight stories, and appreciation campaigns
• Coordinate inclusive events and forums that foster collaboration and community
• Use data and feedback to evaluate impact, improve experiences, and inform decision-making
• Champion collaboration and best practice across committees, departments, and the wider IOP network

You’ll work closely with passionate physicists, volunteers, and colleagues across departments — from Communications and EDI to Learning and Skills — to ensure every member feels supported, valued, and inspired.

Projects you work on may include:

• Creating a new Volunteering Guide and Welcome Handbook
• Designing and delivering onboarding and training for new committee members
• Organising flagship events like the annual Committee Welcome Day
• Helping shape our first Volunteering Development Plan and inclusive volunteering strategy

You’ll also be part of a wider team of Community Support Officers, each with their own focus area, working together to build a connected, thriving membership community.

Who will I work with?

As a Community Support Officer (Engagement and Volunteering), you’ll be part of a dynamic, collaborative environment where relationships matter. You’ll work closely with:

• The Community Support team and Student & Early Career Support Officer – sharing insights, coordinating efforts, and supporting each other to deliver a seamless member experience.
• The wider Membership department – especially colleagues in Professional Registration, Events & Conferences, and CPD – to ensure volunteer activities align with member development and recognition.
• Cross-functional teams across the IOP – including Science and Innovation, Education and Workforce, EDI, and Public Engagement – to embed inclusive practices and amplify the impact of volunteer-led initiatives.
• Members across our Groups, Nations and Branches (GNBs) – building trusted relationships with committee members, volunteers, and local champions to support their work and celebrate their contributions.
• External partners and sister societies – occasionally collaborating on joint events, campaigns, or volunteer initiatives that extend our reach and deepen our impact.

Bromley Recovery and Wellbeing College (BRWC) runs a curriculum of free peer and professional-led workshops and courses across the borough of Bromley. Our aim is to enable students to achieve greater insight into their own mental wellbeing and gain skills to help them achieve personal goals, independence and self-management of their own mental health.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Bromley Recovery and Wellbeing College coordinator to join SEL Mind on a one year fixed-term basis. You will work closely with the Bromley Recovery and Wellbeing Manager to develop a high quality college offer to the residents of Bromley. The role comes with the responsibility to provide day to day support and guidance to a team of tutors and volunteer co-facilitators to ensure efficient delivery of the college.

You will have experience of working in a busy fast-paced environment. Working autonomously but also as part of a team is key, as are problem solving and excellent organisational skills. Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people is also required. You will work closely with other SEL Mind colleagues as well as our Bromley Mental Health Hub partners Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust.

Key Responsibilities

Oversight of the Spear Programme

• As a confident communicator, you will lead group sessions of around 10 young people each, using coaching skills to transform attitudes to their own ability and the workplace, and to raise their awareness and maximise potential in stepping into the world of work
• Prepare and coach group and 1-1 sessions with the Spear Coach
• Ensure the programme is delivered in line with agreed targets, and report KPIs on recruitment, retention and completion of Spear Trainees to Resurgo and the Spear Trust, as well as their ongoing progress and sustainment of work or education

Partnership liaison and relationship management

• Establish the primary local referral agencies and steward relationships with these, overseeing and building a strategy to ensure recruitment of young people onto the Spear programme is effective
• Maintain and develop relationships with local partners to form a strong referral network

Line Management and training

• Manage the Spear Coach, using a coaching approach to invest in their growth and development
• Be line managed by Resurgo on Spear Programme performance and ongoing operations of the centre, and report back on KPIs

Church Community

• The Spear Centre Manager is directly employed by Alive Church, meaning you are part of a vibrant church staff team and submerged in an exciting faith community
• You will be required to establish strong relationships with key people at the church to ensure the engagement and backing of church members and help the Spear Coach to establish a strong presence at the church to build a network of supporters for the Spear programme
• Ensure the Spear programme is a key missional feature of the work of the church; this may involve attending church events and speaking at services

Site management 

• Work with the Church to coordinate the training room and any infrastructure needs for the Spear Centre
• Liaise with relevant staff locally on-site issues and work to resolve them as soon as possible, ensuring the office and training room are safe and tidy working spaces in line with health and safety policies

Purpose of the role

The Community Centre Manager will play a key role in the leadership and smooth running of the Community Centre managing change, growth and performance as agreed with the Board of Trustees.

Working closely with the trustees, employees, consultants, contractors, volunteers and other local organisations, the Manager will work to ensure the Community Centre is a vibrant, well-managed facility that operates within a sustainable framework for the benefit of local residents and organisations. Principle duties and responsibilities

Management of the Community Centre

Manage the operations of the Community Centre and its staff and the development and delivery of activities and facilities in line with the business and strategic plan. Ensure compliance with employment law and that we follow good practice with regard to HR.

Contribute to the planning, development, implementation and delivery of the business and strategic plan and present regular progress updates to the Board.

Oversee the maintenance of the building - including building maintenance and improvement programmes.

Lead on and contribute to identifying and apply for funding from local and national organisations. Role will also lead on ensuring aims are met and reporting of outcomes to funding organisation.

Manage and monitor all aspects of risk assessments, health and safety and security as required by regulation or good practice including, in conjunction with the Trustees, the review and updating of policies and procedure.

Ensure all Community Centre policies and procedures are complied with, including any Government restrictions/guidance.

Lead on General Data Protection Regulation and Safeguarding, maintaining records to ensure the charity fulfils all its legal, statutory and regulatory responsibilities.

Ensure programme of activities delivered within the Park Centre align with the charitable aims of the organisation and ensure that it is relevant to local community, responding to needs and raising the profile of the Centre.

Management of staff and Volunteers

Create a positive working environment in which equality and diversity are well managed, dignity at work is upheld and staff and volunteers can achieve their best.

Ensure effective management of HR including recruitment, supervision and development of employees and volunteers, including carrying out DBS checks as necessary.

Keeping up to date with relevant legislation and best working practices.

Ensure employees, consultants, contractors, volunteers work collaboratively with each other and with users of the facilities, in a safe and constructive way.

Oversee the Community Centre’s complaints procedure, and the proper handling, investigation and resolution of any complaints against the Centre, its staff and volunteers.

Working with Others 

Continue developing and maintaining relationships with various local partners to ensure activities at the Community Centre fit with others provided in the area. 

Positively represent the Centre and the community at partner and other meetings/events to raise the profile of the Community Centre and to ensure the views and needs of the community are prioritised and included.

Continue to strengthen the reputation of the Community Centre by giving maximum visibility to its activities and achievements.

Ensure through listening to the community, monitoring and evaluating provision and adapting the service, the Centre meets the needs of the local community.

Prepare reports for and attend all Board and annual general meetings.

PR/Marketing and Fundraising

Oversee the development and implementation of an income generation & marketing strategy.  

Develop strategies to promote the use and profile of the Community Centre, maximising use of social media, publicity opportunities and liaison with the local media.  

Identify and secure new funding through grant applications and other means.  

Continue maintaining and developing positive relationships with funders, both grant makers, sponsors and individuals.

Financial management

Liaise with the treasurer and accountant in setting and managing budgets and maintain an overview of the financial position of the Community Centre.

Code invoices to ensure that income and expenditure is allocated to correct projects. 

Ensure completion of reports/returns to statutory bodies and funders and compilation of grant applications. 

Ensure best practice in all financial matters.

Project Management 

Support and oversee the continued delivery of high-quality services and activities.

Ensure all project leads are liaised with regularly to ensure compliance with objectives and outcomes.

Devise and implement robust impact monitoring and evaluation strategies for all projects. 

Ensure all projects are correctly risk assessed and supported.

The Park Centre Kingswood has a small team of employees, contractors, volunteers and a wide range of activities. it is expected that the post holder will be flexible in assisting in areas of work which go beyond their main duties. In particular, the holder of this post will be expected to assist with covering frontline reception and administrative duties and attendance at and/or supervision of events outside of normal working hours.

Sheffield Cathedral is embarking on an ambitious seven-year journey as a resourcing cathedral, pioneering mission in the inclusive catholic tradition. At the heart of this vision is the creation of the Community of St Paulinus (CsP), a new non-residential mission community rooted in daily prayer and committed to revitalising parishes and planting new worshipping communities across the Diocese.

To help deliver this exciting work, we are looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead the Project Resource Team and ensure the smooth running of this initiative. We’re a Founder-led charity working to solve learn-to-swim for disabled children - and we aim to do that in the next ten years.

We’ve grown our impact 5x in the past three years and now raise over £1m in unrestricted income annually through our swim events. Our events attract 5,000 swimmers and 3,000 fundraisers, and we own and operate some of the UK’s most iconic outdoor swims - including the Dart10k and Bantham Swoosh - alongside a growing series of 24-hour relays in lakes and lidos.

The role

We’re looking for a strategic, creative Head of Fundraising to lead our next phase of growth.

Your first focus will be stewarding our 3,000 fundraisers - overseeing segmented email journeys, managing a £40k prizing fund, and improving supporter care through deeper, more personal touchpoints. That might mean calls, events, or just finding ways to help people feel more connected to their impact.

Beyond that, you'll help us develop and test new income streams - from matched giving and regular giving, to sponsorships, repeat fundraising, and post-event conversion. You'll also play a key role in evolving our Challenge Events portfolio across in-person, virtual, and blended formats.

This role requires someone with a strong track record in fundraising growth, a test-and-learn mindset, and the ambition to build something big.

Core Responsibilities

• Strategy Development and Implementation

Fundraiser Care

• Customer Lifetime value / retention / regular giving.
• Build and maintain relationships with donors, ensuring effective stewardship.
• Develop and implement donor retention strategies to increase long-term support and regular giving.

Trusts and Foundations

• Working closely with our Head of Programmes to oversee our bids process, working with specialists and utilising learnings from previous years.
• Deepen strong relationships with grant-making bodies and ensure compliance with grant requirements.

Corporate Partnerships

• Manage and develop corporate partnerships and event sponsorships. 
• Develop tailored proposals and pitches to attract corporate support.

Team Leadership

• Lead, inspire, and manage a small fundraising team, fostering a culture of high performance and collaboration.
• Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for team members for both fundraising and marketing.

Monitoring and Reporting

• Track and report on fundraising performance against targets.
• Provide regular updates to the Senior Leadership Team. 

Qualifications and Experience

• Proven experience in a senior fundraising role.
• Proven experience working on fundraising events and event fundraising.
• Demonstrable success in developing and implementing successful fundraising strategies.
• Strong track record of securing major gifts, grant funding and/or corporate partnerships.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire a wide range of stakeholders.
• Experience in digital fundraising and leveraging social media platforms.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

We’re looking for a motivated and relationship-driven Project Coordinator (Growth & Engagement) based across Greater Manchester to help us build and sustain impactful partnerships that will grow the reach and visibility of our Dog Champion Scheme.

At Street Paws, we believe that no one should be forced to choose between a safe place to stay and the pet they love. For people experiencing homelessness, a pet can be a vital lifeline — providing emotional support, a sense of safety, and unconditional companionship in the most difficult circumstances.

Sadly, most accommodation services do not allow pets, leaving people with an impossible decision: stay with their pet and remain homeless, or enter housing alone. At Street Paws, we work to remove that barrier through compassionate, practical action.

We support homeless pet owners by:

As Project Coordinator (Growth & Engagement), you’ll focus on building relationships with new hostels, expanding awareness of our work, and promoting our training programme and online learning platform. • Promote and grow the Dog Champion Scheme by identifying and engaging new partner hostels

This role focuses on early intervention work with young people aged 11–19, supporting them to improve their emotional health and wellbeing. You'll build short-term, trusted relationships that help young people build resilience, explore challenges, and access support around issues like anxiety, relationships, or low self-esteem.

The Head of Social Policy leads the development of our thinking across public service reform, social security and housing.  This role develops - and is responsible for the effective delivery of a NEF-wide social policy strategy and of projects that are delivering on this strategy.  The Head of Social Policy acts as a key spokesperson for NEF and promotes our work at a local, regional and national level.

As NEF has a particular strategic focus on transforming the way policy is made so that it better reflects the lived experience of the people, communities and movements that most need change, we look to heads across our different themes to help develop and test new approaches to policy and advocacy.

The Head of Social Policy generates project ideas, oversees the development of quantitative and qualitative research, leads funding bids and manages day-to-day funder relationships.  This role leads a team which both develops our thinking on social policy and provides expertise to other teams at NEF.
