Location: ½ home-based with travel across the South West Region, ½ based in the ICE office in Exeter, with travel to schools. 

Salary: Scripture Union £27,422 - £27,600 FTE per annum,  ICE Role £24,800 FTE per annum. For part-time appointments, the salary will be calculated pro rata based on the agreed hours and subject to experience.

About the role  

We’re Scripture Union (SU), we’re one of the UK’s longest-established children and youth ministry organisations. We’re working in partnership with Exeter ICE (Initiatives in Christian Education), a schools ministry charity, to offer this unique role to reach many more young people across the South West of England. 

We’re looking for a creative and entrepreneurial individual with a passion for helping children and young people across Exeter and the South West of England to explore and respond to the good news of Jesus. To do this, we’re offering two roles; Schools Worker and Rural Revealing Jesus Pioneer, which could be filled by one person as a full-time role, or two individuals working closely together. 

These unique roles combine the benefits of direct face-to-face engagement with young people in an urban context, delivering assemblies and workshops across Exeter while also developing and mentoring others to expand ministry in more rural contexts across the South West Region. The ideal candidate(s) will have equal passion and experience in both contexts; however, in reality, we accept that candidates may have a greater preference towards one context.

A flexible role shaped around you  

These roles are being offered by Scripture Union and ICE; two organisations with a long history of partnership and collaboration. The roles could be combined into one full-time position for one candidate, or filled by two individuals who would work closely together. The positions suit a candidate who enjoys face-to-face interactions with young people locally and strategic work regionally, training others for delivery. You’ll work closely with the ICE team in Exeter and maintain weekly connections with the SU South region team.   

Both roles offer a maximum of 2.5 days per week, with the option to combine into one full-time roles.

We have 24 staff organised into four regional teams, and alongside our local and national partners, we’re playing our part in a network of organisations that seeks to reach children and young people in every context, across every town and city across England and Wales. About ICE   

For the last 36 years, ICE has been working in the schools across Exeter bringing faith to life. We interact with young people throughout their time in school sharing God’s love through our words and actions. We tell stories of what Jesus has done, open the Bible and invite them to consider for themselves who Jesus is and what that means for them.

We work in 20 primary schools, 5 secondary schools and the sixth form college. We connect with roughly 225 children and young people every week through our lunch time and after-school clubs. And over a year will reach around 5,000 young people through assemblies sharing bible stories, biographies of Christian heroes and the good news of Jesus. 

(p.s we also give out about 9,000 biscuits every year too)

We are a charity with a small staff team, and a mighty team of over 40 volunteers who serve with us week in week out to make our work possible.

About your team  

Like many jobs, you will work with lots of different teams in different contexts. With this role, you will have the benefit of being part of both a local-focused team and a second team with a regional focus.

If you take the role as a combined full-time position, you’ll work half-time out of the office of ICE, joining an exceptional team of 3, working face-to-face with young people in Exeter primary and secondary schools and colleges across Exeter, this work is term time only. You will also be a part of the SU South Region team of 5 workers at SU who work across SU’s largest region, from Kent to Cornwall. You’ll contribute your expertise in a variety of settings, ranging from urban and suburban to coastal and rural areas. You’ll have a brilliant time getting acquainted with this rich tapestry of local and national partners. Across the south region, we currently work with 130 churches and have 150 faith guides. We’d like to see these numbers grow significantly over the next few years. And if two candidates split the roles between them, both roles will have close working relationships with the other team. 

The south region includes the south west of England brimming with distinct charm and rich cultural heritage, a tapestry of contrasts, where dramatic coastline and golden beaches seamlessly transition into ancient, brooding moors and vibrant, historic cities and rural towns. We are particularly interested in how sports, arts, and culture can be explored to further enable the mission and would be particularly interested in candidates with expertise in either of these areas. In the south region we have the highest density of Christian holidays and festivals, with events that we organise and run directly and also a variety of festival and missions that we support and partner with, you’ll have a fantastic opportunity each summer to get hands on engaged in these mission and festivals throughout the year. 

Job description  

The official title has two parts School Worker and Rural Revealing Jesus Pioneer. Here’s a brief breakdown of each:   

Schools Worker – ICE  
You will work in and around the city of Exeter as part of the schools team to plan and deliver assemblies, small group work, lunch clubs, and projects for primary and secondary schools to explain Christian faith - this will vary between working closely with colleagues, or working independently. You’ll be planning and filming short videos for occasional assembly viewing, liaising with volunteers from churches who have a connection with a school and liaising with the trustees of the charity in continuing momentum in the work.  

Rural Revealing Jesus Pioneer - SU  
You will work across the south west of England, with a particular focus on rural areas, multiplying your impact through equipping, empowering and mobilising others in outreach work. You’ll add energy, expertise, direction, and skill to the mix. You’ll recruit, motivate, train, equip and support Faith Guides; you’ll work in partnership with this group as well as leading by example, you will model excellent mission delivery to children and young people aligned with SU’s mission.

About You:

·Qualified Professional
Holds a JNC-recognised youth/community work or sports qualification, Ideally with aFirst Aid certification, and a D1 driving licence.

Has 3+ years’ management experience working with young people in informal, voluntary settings—especially through sports.

·Strong Leader and Manager
Proven ability to lead teams, supervise staff, manage resources, and develop effective programmes.

About the Role

You will work alongside the Mental Health Liaison Team at Milton Keynes University Hospital to support individuals presenting on hospital wards with a mental health crisis in the evenings/weekends and deliver one-to-one crisis focused support.

Job Purpose

To support individuals to deescalate mental health crisis and improve mental health and wellbeing of patients in hospital. Promote Mind BLMK services through focussed 1:1s and structured crisis interventions.

About the Role

We're looking for a Senior Trauma Informed Therapist to join the team. Leading peer-mentoring support to trauma-informed therapists while delivering trauma-informed therapeutic services. We are a dynamic service with a holistic service model, so the senior role is supporting wider than just direct delivery.

You'll play a key role in supporting clients, managing communications, supporting volunteers/placements. You will work closely with our Community Development and Criminal Justice Services teams to ensure survivors have access to the right support. All staff have a Thematic Leadership area to expand the organisations knowledge in areas impacting male survivors and their loved ones.

About You

You’ll be someone who is a qualified and experienced therapist working with trauma. We’re especially keen to hear from people with experience in working with men, sexual harms and supporting therapists and trainees, but we value transferable skills too. • Lead peer-mentoring support to trauma-informed therapists.

We’re looking for a dedicated and organised Skin Camouflage Practitioner Coordinator to help deliver our Skin Camouflage Service in South Wales

Job title: Skin Camouflage Practitioner Co-ordinator (Wales)
Hours: Part-time 22.2 hours / week (preference for 15.7 hours spread across 2-3 days per week, plus one 6.5 hour clinic day required (on either Tuesday or Friday).

We are currently recruiting a Skin Camouflage Practitioner Co-ordinator (Wales) (0.6 FTE, spread across 3-4 days) to deliver and support our vital Skin Camouflage Service – a unique, life-enhancing service that helps individuals regain confidence and feel more in control of their appearance.

Main purpose of the role

Changing Faces are launching a brand-new pilot Skin Camouflage Service in South Wales. We’re looking for a dedicated and organised Skin Camouflage Practitioner Coordinator to help make it happen.

In this role, you will:

• Deliver in-person Skin Camouflage appointments, supporting people with visible differences
• Promote the service and build connections with local communities and health professionals
• Support the new service set-up, including clinics, documentation, and support the implementation of Welsh translations
• Coordinate and administrate appointments remotely and manage client enquiries
• Signpost clients to other Changing Faces services as needed
• Contribute to service development alongside the wider team

This is a unique opportunity to be part of a life-changing service while helping us grow our reach and make a big impact across Wales.

We are seeking a professional, empathetic individual with strong administrative skills and either experience or a talent in cosmetic artistry or colour matching. A background in nursing, therapy, or another healthcare role would be an advantage in the clinic-based environment.

Following training, the role will involve delivering one 6.5-hour weekday clinic per week. In this setting, you will provide Skin Camouflage colour matching, application, tuition, and guidance to individuals affected by a visible difference.

In addition, you will work 15.7 hours remotely across 2–3 weekdays. Working as an integral part of our Skin Camouflage team, administrating and co-ordinating a compassionate, professional service that makes a real difference in peoples lives.

Who We Are Looking For

• Fluent in English, both spoken and written, with first class communication skills to liaise effectively, clearly, logically, concisely and appropriately for the particular audiences. Additional fluency in Welsh would be desirable but not essential.
• Proven administrative ability, including the efficient use of administration systems, and confident use of the Microsoft Office suite, video conferencing tools, and CRM platforms (Salesforce experience is an advantage but not essential).
• Experience or natural talent in cosmetic artistry or colour matching, with an excellent eye for colour and visual detail.
• On clinic days; ability to lift and wheel camouflage kit (approximately 10KG). Ability to kneel, bend and hold cosmetic brushes to facilitate camouflage on differing body areas.
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to listen empathetically and support vulnerable clients, while maintaining professional boundaries and emotional resilience.
• Good understanding of policies and procedures, particularly in relation to safeguarding, and a strong commitment to the safety and wellbeing of clients, staff, and volunteers.

Changing Faces is the UK’s leading charity for everyone who has a mark, scar or condition that makes them look different (a visible difference). Being different in a society where there is such pressure to look a certain way is extremely difficult.

People with visible differences are vulnerable to isolation, loneliness, social anxiety and low self-esteem. They face staring, unwanted attention and even bullying and hate crime. The Students’ Guild supports a wide range of student-led activities which provide exciting and rewarding opportunities for our members. This role supports the Activities Team to proactively support and empower student-led activities, as well as championing a diverse range of student-led interests that enable development, participation and belonging.

You’ll be one of the key staff contacts supporting over 300 student-led societies. Providing support in volunteer management such as recruitment, induction, training, reward and recognition. The role will be part of a larger Recovery Lounge team made up of Mental Health Recovery Workers, Peer Support Workers and volunteers.

To support individuals to deescalate mental health crisis and improve mental health and wellbeing of patients in hospital. Promote Mind BLMK services through focussed 1:1s and structured crisis interventions.

We are seeking a highly organised administrator to support our Fundraising team.

In this role, you will play a key part in supporting the Harris Federation’s impactful fundraising efforts through vital administrative assistance. Working closely with the Head of Fundraising and Partnerships and other team members, you will help celebrate and acknowledge our donors by crafting thoughtful reports and heartfelt communications. The Internal Auditor role will undertake internal audit assignments, develop country-specific internal audit processes or thematic internal audits and work with our London and global teams to support external audit processes in countries of operation, oversee the global audit register, and with teams across the organisation advance effective financial management performance across the organisation

Job purpose:

Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the Director of Finance and Operations, the post holder will undertake internal audit assignments and compliance reviews aimed at improving Saferworld’s internal systems and processes. The post-holder will also support the development of financial controls and build the capacity of finance and operational teams to implement them effectively.

The role requires a high level of initiative; proven skills and experience in project management; experience working collaboratively with others to achieve our vision; and strong communication and problem-solving skills.

The post-holder will have a successful track record in designing and leading internal audit processes and strengthening control systems, preferable at a complex organisation with multiple country offices/business units.  Additional experience working with offices/partners in/on conflict affected contexts is highly desirable.

Roles and responsibilities: 

Plan and carry out internal audits

• Draw up a yearly Internal Audit Plan based on key risks and an assessment of audit needs and agree it with the CEO in consultation with the Director of Finance and Operations and Director of Policy and Programmes.
• Carry out internal audit assignments across departments, projects, and programmes to assess compliance with financial policies, donor agreements, and statutory regulations, including negotiating terms of reference with relevant system/area owners, preparing reports, presenting the findings to the Senior Leadership, and following up on recommendations.
• Review financial transactions and accounting records, including data from SUN, to ensure accuracy and integrity.
• Support necessary pre-audit preparation work related to external audits (both statutory and project audit) and assist the teams in ensuring smooth audit. 
• Maintain the organisation’s register of grant and project audits, ensuring that audit findings recommendations are clearly documented and shared.
• Monitor the implementation of these recommendations and follow up on corrective actions to ensure timely and effective solution.
• Carry out special investigations, as required by the Saferworld CEO or Senior Operational Team (SOT). 

Strengthening organisational systems and risk controls

• Produce an annual review of the overall effectiveness of Saferworld’s systems of internal control and make recommendations and arrangements for identification and management of risks and produce an annual plan to address these areas.
• Report quarterly to the Senior Operational Team (SOT) on the annual review and plan.
• Attend the governance/Board of Trustees Finance and Audit Committee four times a year and produce a report for the meetings, including feeding back on learnings from internal audits carried out.
• The post-holder must maintain independence and objectivity in carrying out audits and investigations. They have direct access to the Board/Audit Committee when necessary.
• Produce quarterly report for the Board meetings.
• Promote a culture of accountability, transparency and continuous improvement across the organisation.

Person specification 

Knowledge

• Excellent understanding of internal audit principles and methods and risk identification and management
• Auditing or accounting professional qualification (e.g. ACCA, CPA, CA, CIMA or Certified Internal Auditor with active membership status) and sound knowledge of accounting procedures, principles and systems
• Good understanding of and experience using SUN system will be an advantage

Experience

• Extensive experience in the internal audit function in a large/medium-sized NGO or similar complex organisation 
• Experience of undertaking a variety of audit related, research/ evaluation and project management work
• Familiarity with donor-funded project audits (FCDO, EU) and related compliance requirements
• Experience in working with programme teams (particularly in different country settings), sharing learning from audits, and supporting implementation of recommendations
• Experience in training or mentoring staff on compliance, internal controls, and financial procedures.
