Purpose of role: 

Support the Nova Family Programme tutors in facilitating online home school sessions.

Role Description: 

This role will be to act as a teaching assistant to tutors delivering online English, maths and science classes (for young people at Key Stage 2 and 3). With the disruption of Covid-19, many families have been thrown into the unknown world of home schooling – made even more challenging when your own education isn’t up to scratch or English is your second language. We are delivering a free programme of online home school support to those who have been most negatively impacted by being out of school. Now that Schools have reopened, we will be continuing these sessions to ensure that learners do not fall behind as Schools focus on catching up on lost learning. The aim is to support children who may be falling behind with their studies and mitigating as far as possible the widening attainment gap. 

You will:

• To provide effective supervision and guidance to other volunteers as delegated

Requirements 

• To have experience working in the charity sector or voluntary sector 
• To have experience in managing a team of people/volunteers 
• To be competent in IT, social media and website design 
• To be an effective communicator and leader
• At least 7 or more years of relevant experience.
• Some experience (ideally 2 or more years) of managing or leading a team.
• Excellent writing and communication skills.
• IT literacy with own equipment (laptop and phone)
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.
• Right to volunteer in the UK

Role: Independent Assessment Review Panel Member - Volunteer

Role

We are looking for a passionate and knowledgeable individual in education and assessment practice, specifically related to quality assurance and the maintenance of standards, to join our Assessment Review Panel (ARP) as an independent member.

This is a voluntary position. The position is not remunerated. Reasonable expenses and lunch will be provided for attendance at Assessment Review Panel meetings.

Role summary

• Provide an independent expert opinion on education and assessment best practice.
• Monitor the quality and maintenance of standards of CGIUKI qualifications.

Responsibilities

• To attend Assessment Review Panel meetings - currently twice a year, in-person meetings at London office.
• To review reports from Examiners and Chief Examiners and other relevant information provided to ratify, as a member of ARP, the issue of results for CGIUKI qualifications.
• Challenge current processes and advise on best practice regarding the maintenance of standards within educational assessment.
• Provide advice on education and assessment best practice

Person specification

• Likely to hold/have held a senior position in another Awarding Organisation.
• Experience of the assessment, awarding and result confirmation process.
• Excellent communicator
