Purpose of the Role:
The purpose of the role is to develop and foster long-term, multi-faceted relationships with people giving in memory, and deliver compassionate, personalised stewardship, so all supporters feel cared about and their gift is highly valued.
Key Responsibilities:
- Use Salesforce (or similar CRM) to maintain and keep up to date all information and projects related to In Memory Giving and drawing on data insights, monitor performance, identify trends, opportunities for developments and support improvements to the care and long-term relationship with supporters.
- Use the Much Loved (or similar platform) to develop tributes and opportunities for further in memory dedications, event participation and increase financial donations.
- Establish a communication process with funeral directors and keeping these records up to date on Salesforce.
- Much Loved to promote income generation keeping them as donors, repeating donations and taking part in events and dedications
- Ensure that all communications, across all mediums, reflect the values of the Fishermen’s Mission and our Christian ethos.
- Working closely with the Digital Engagement Officer and the Digital Fundraising Officer to develop and promote In Memory Giving and storytelling via digital platforms
- Work with the wider organisation including frontline staff to raise the profile of In Memory Giving (internally and externally) and providing information using both written and printed word to assist with conversations with clients and supporters.
- Provide reports and information as and when required by line manager.
- Meet all targets and objectives as agreed with the line manager on an annual basis.
- Undertake training and networking opportunities, when and if required, to keep up to date with the wider charity sector.
- Work as part of the Business Development Team at all times, taking part in team events and projects and supporting other team members if required.
Person Specification
Essential
- Highly skilled in all forms of communication
- Experience of dealing with people either face to face, over the phone or via written communications
- Use of a CRM (or a database) to record all interactions
- Expertise in using digital platforms
- Team working at the highest level, sharing information, ideas and working on projects with colleagues
- To be able to work within the Christian Ethos of the organisation
Desirable
- Experience of working in a charity setting or in a stewardship role

As an Individual Giving Manager you will:
- Develop and deliver the legacy marketing programme, working with external digital agencies
- Manage and administer the legacy caseload, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting and reporting for legacy income
- Support the national legacy campaign in collaboration with senior colleagues and external partners
- Manage and grow the payroll giving programme
- Oversee in-memory giving initiatives, including a national remembrance scheme
- Work closely with digital colleagues on tribute pages and online giving
- Identify and develop new in-memory giving opportunities
- Analyse and report on campaign performance and insights
- Support the development and improvement of supporter journeys
- Oversee supporter enquiries and timely, high quality stewardship communications

To be successful, you must have experience:
- Proven experience in legacy and individual giving
- Budget and financial management experience

- Strong CRM and IT skills, including data segmentation and reporting

The Role
Joining a team of six, reporting into the Head Of Events and Supporter Engagement and managing the supporter engagegment officer. You will:
Develop and deliver the legacy marketing programme, working closely with external digital agencies to promote legacy giving.
Manage and grow the payroll giving programme, including relationships with Professional Fundraising Organisations (PFOs) and internal teams.
Oversee in memory giving initiatives,working closely with the Digital Fundraising and Engagement Executive on digital in-memory giving initiatives and tribute pages.
Lead on the planning, creation, and delivery of direct mail appeals, working collaboratively with the Head of Events and Supporter Engagement.
The Candidate
Proven experience in legacy giving and individual giving environments.
Ability to analyse and report on marketing effectiveness, sharing insights with teams.
Experience in managing finance and budgeting for fundraising activities.
Demonstrable ability to write engaging copy for different audiences across varied communication channels.
Ideally previous line management experience.

As our Individual Giving and Legacies Manager (Maternity Cover), you will play a central role in shaping Hospice UK’s supporter engagement and income generation. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and grow legacy giving, payroll giving, and in-memory giving, ensuring every supporter’s journey is meaningful, engaging, and impactful.
You will be at the heart of some of Hospice UK’s most important fundraising activity, supporting the National Legacy Campaign and working closely with colleagues across the organisation and external partners to deliver high-impact campaigns for local hospices. Through thoughtful leadership, engaging communications, and effective appeals, you will help maximise income generation while directly supporting our mission to ensure everyone can access compassionate end-of-life care.
You will join a friendly, collaborative team of six within the wider Income Generation and Grants Directorate of 23. The Events and Supporter Engagement Team includes the Head of Events and Supporter Engagement, Events Fundraising Manager, Digital Fundraising and Engagement Executive, another Individual Giving and Legacies Manager, and two Supporter Engagement Officers. Together, we raise funds from individuals through events, digital campaigns, memorial and legacy giving, regular and payroll giving, and one-off donations. We also deliver a wide range of supporter engagement activities and oversee supporter communications and journeys.
To succeed as our Individual Giving and Legacies Manager, you will bring:
- Proven experience in legacy giving and individual giving environments
- Experience managing budgets and financial performance for fundraising activities
- Strong project management skills, with a track record of delivering multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent IT skills, including CRM database use for segmentation and reporting
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to write engaging, compelling copy for a range of audiences
- A strong understanding of fundraising compliance and relevant legislation
Line management experience, knowledge of payroll giving and in-memory giving, and experience working with external agencies are desirable.
