About the team

We have been successfully running the first ever national Peer Support Service for kinship carers in England for over two years since January 2022. We have created 145 peer support groups and supported and trained kinship carers to create and lead their groups in a way which meets their needs.

With a new contract from the Department for Education, we’re now entering a new phase of our service with a focus on:

• creating 90 new sustainable peer support groups in areas of most need over 21 months;
• sustaining and developing the current 145 existing groups, and;
• providing support and help to build a sustainable and welcoming community for all peer support groups across England. 

About the role

The type of person we’re looking for:

This is a new a role and a new structure for the team. You will need to be a strong, boundaried manager and leader. You will understand the power of building relationship-focussed peer support groups and the importance of in person local community engagement and outreach.

The team you lead will focus on community outreach and relationship building to develop new groups and new support group leaders through to independence. By independence, we mean that the groups will function successfully without a staff member present.

We want groups to feel a sense of community and belonging through all support and services we offer at Kinship, so your team will be the local contact.  They are expected to be out and about in communities.

Your team will need to build resilience through in person outreach, support, training and connection to ensure groups are able to function independently before moving to new ‘hub’ team who will provide centralised support and community building.

Your team will also reach out to existing groups (providing a face of the service and a relationship with it), ensuring they have the resources they need and support to sustain their group and then transition to the ‘hub’ team. This will include in person visits.

Purpose of the role:

The role of Programme Lead is to oversee and take accountability for the development and creation of new sustainable kinship peer support groups across England in priority areas as part of a new hub and spoke delivery model. In this context, your team is the ‘spoke’ of the service, delivering local outreach, online groups (where appropriate) and relationship building with kinship carers.

Managing a national team of seven staff (two direct line reports), you will provide firm leadership, ensuring targets and funder SLAs are met consistently and the service is delivered to a high quality.  You will provide monthly reports, ensuring delivery is on track and most importantly that kinship carers have an excellent and positive experience.

Key responsibilities include:

•  

• Deliver sustainable peer support groups for kinship carers.

• Ensure policies and systems to deliver new groups and move others to sustainability, are followed and updated with user needs at the heart.

• Champion and innovate the peer support service blueprint. 

• Oversee day-to-day operations for service delivery and meet KPIs and SLAs.

• Line manage and supervise two Senior Peer Support Officers.

• As a deputy safeguarding lead at Kinship, you will work closely with other colleagues to identify areas of training for the organisation and identify improvements in delivery or processes.

Essential requirements include:

• Substantial experience in delivering a high-profile national service or programme. This includes overseeing delivery, operational planning, monitoring, budgeting, managing delivery and meeting KPIs.

• Significant experience of leading the development and delivery of peer support and community development services.

• Significant experience of managing volunteer recruitment and retention.

• Significant experience of change management and driving high performance.

The role involves liaising with school staff, local partners (including the Military and local businesses) and volunteers to ensure programmes meet the needs of our young people and is supported by the Regional Manager, East Anglia.

The successful candidate will be based from home with a requirement to travel to partner schools and business sites predominantly around Wisbech and Swaffham. Fuel expenses are paid and travel time is included as part of working hours. Working with secondary schools to provide early support programmes, core delivery time is usually within the school working day and during school terms only. All other working hours can be managed with flexibility by the post holder to ensure that all administrative tasks are completed as required.

 About the Role

The Africa Death Penalty Team Project Manager is responsible for coordinating Reprieve’s litigation and advocacy in Sub-Saharan Africa. At the moment, the team works on death penalty casework and abolition advocacy in Malawi, Tanzania, and Kenya. Our casework includes work on individual cases on behalf of people facing a death sentence; large-scale projects, such as the Kenya resentencing project, wherein we support stakeholders to ensure 5,000+ people are able to access a chance at reducing their sentence from death via a new sentence hearing; and  long-term regional projects, such as our strategic litigation before the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights, which challenges the mandatory death penalty, torture, and other associated violations of the African Charter.

Regional context

 There is a trend toward the abolition of the death penalty in Africa. In recent years, countries across the continent have taken the decision to limit the application of the death penalty or to abolish it altogether. This has been seen as a turning away from old laws and systems that were imposed by former colonial governments, which obstructed alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, and were designed to remove discretion from the local judiciary. African lawyers and judges are now at the forefront of a wave of progressive jurisprudence on issues related to the death penalty including methods of executions, torture, sentencing practice, conditions of confinement, and intersections of gender, disability, and socioeconomic status with criminal justice. This jurisprudence has become a model for the international movement to limit the death penalty, and is being held up as best practice in jurisdictions around the world.

Contract and location

This is a full-time, permanent role based in Reprieve’s London office. Reprieve operates a hybrid working model with staff working part of the week from home and part of the week from the office. Applicants must have the current right to work in the UK, which will be checked prior to interview.

Your presence is important during core office hours, whether remotely or in the office. You will also be available outside of office hours in the event of an emergency, for example case developments that require urgent action. This is a role that may require travel.

About you and the role

The purpose of this role is to lead on our finance strategy, and ensure all of our systems, reporting and processes are helping to drive forward the charity and deliver on our objectives at scale. You will work closely with the Chief Executive and Directors to ensure that financial planning is effective and supported by accurate data analysis. You will report directly to Trustees as required and ensure that the highest standards of transparency and probity are maintained.

You will be joining the team during a period of growth in the size and complexity of our delivery. We currently have 20 employees and anticipate doubling in size within three years. You will have a crucial role in shaping our systems and processes to ensure we can scale effectively, both our existing programmes and a new membership-based programme that is in development. We’re looking for an experienced finance professional with an interest in effectively using technology and systems to drive efficiency, without compromising on accuracy or compliance.

You will support and mentor the Finance and Office Manager, ensuring that financial administration is carried out proficiently and in line with all legal and regulatory requirements, including ultimate responsibility for ensuring that all statutory filings are made accurately and on time. Your role will also encompass ensuring that we operate within legal & regulatory frameworks and stay up to date with changes in relevant legislation.

Key responsibilities:

• Developing a comprehensive financial strategy that supports the delivery of the charity’s objectives and activities

• Reviewing suitability of our current systems: Quickbooks for accountancy, Beacon CRM, PLEO for expenses management, Survey Monkey for data collection etc.

• Where necessary, identifying and implementing new software to ensure all systems and processes are robust, user friendly, deliver useful data analysis, integrate and/or improve automation

• Working closely with the Director of Transformations to translate the annual activity plan into an accurate organisational-level budget

• Advising the Chief Executive, team and Trustees, ensuring that benefits and risks of decisions are fully considered and fit with the overall financial strategy

• Oversee sound financial management and governance across the organisation

• Provide leadership and guidance to all things finance related, providing mentoring and support to the team

• Accountability for monitoring that the organisation’s services are, and will, run to budget, supporting budget holders and reporting promptly on risks

• Have ultimate oversight of the external audit and production of the statutory accounts, supported in delivery of this by the Finance & Office Manager

• Oversee production of management accounts and bespoke financial reports, including accurate forecasting, incisive analysis and accessible narrative commentary

• Support the Development team with financial submissions and other compliance areas (eg advising on and supporting with due diligence processes)

• Constantly seeking to develop and improve the organisation’s financial systems, policies and procedures to promote dynamic, best practice and up-to-date application of tools, systems and approaches

• Oversight of finance, governance and basic HR administration, supporting the Finance & Office Manager with high profile or complex queries, seeking specialist advice on financial or compliance matters as required

• Ensure the organisation’s compliance with charity law, in accordance with the Charity Commission in England & Wales

Skills & experience:

• You have full or partial qualification through an accredited accountancy body

The Knowledge Management and Learning Senior Advisor is an integral role within the Knowledge Management & Learning (KM&L) team, situated within the Programme Support and Knowledge Team (PSK) of the WaterAid UK International Programmes Department (IPD).

IPD operates in 17 African and Asian countries. PSK is a diverse and motivated group of 20+ technical specialists and advisors, passionate about bringing sustainable WASH to the world's poorest and most marginalised people. PSK leads and supports organisation-wide programme learning and knowledge management, collating and disseminating programme knowledge and facilitating knowledge exchange. The team provides technical advisory expertise and fosters and supports internal and external programme and technical partnerships and networks. The team also leads on developing normative programme documents and standards and advise and support the delivery of a programme capacity enhancement strategy. PSK collaborates with many functions across the organisation including policy, advocacy, campaigns, fundraising, communications, as well as with WaterAid partners and collaborators.

About the Role:
The Knowledge Management and Learning Senior Advisor drives the design and implementation of WaterAid's organisational programme learning and knowledge management strategy. The senior advisor leads the development of knowledge management tools, contribute to organisational processes for collating and disseminating program knowledge, and the evolution of knowledge exchange mechanisms. Additionally, lead the development of the internal programme and policy knowledge library, ensuring comprehensive access and collaborating on strategic knowledge communications.

The Senior advisor reports into the Knowledge Management and Learning Senior Manager and their key accountabilities will be:

Co-lead Programme Learning and knowledge management (approximately 50% of time)

• Co-lead the design and implementation of an organisational programme learning and knowledge management strategy (in alignment with the organisational research agenda led by GPAC and supported by PMER processes).
• Lead the development and implementation of knowledge management and learning strategies and tools to capture, organise, and disseminate programme learning within the organisation and externally
• Co-lead the development of organisational mechanisms for knowledge exchange and evolution of our approaches.
• Support and advise PSK team members to effectively document, use and share programme learning and design dissemination strategy and plans to promote thematic learning to the target audience(s).

Develop and promote effective Information Management (approximately 20%)

• Co-Lead the development of the internal programme and policy knowledge library, ensuring that it is comprehensive and easily accessible to relevant stakeholders.
• Work collaboratively with internal and external for strategic and knowledge communications, shaping and populating internal and external facing knowledge systems and building linkages for the same.
• Support internal and external communications teams for strategic and knowledge communications, shaping and populating external facing knowledge systems.

Lead the development of programme guidance and standards (approximately 10%)

• Lead the process and methods to develop and maintain WaterAid's normative frameworks, standards and guidance materials for both internal and external audiences, coordinating with PSK's and GPAC's technical and policy leads. Lead an efficient yet collaborative approach that ensured these are developed built on the extensive knowledge and experience that exists across all levels of the federation.
• Support the dissemination of core normative programmatic documents and standards (frameworks, standards, guidelines, toolkits) through various platforms.

Support Programme Capacity Development (approximately 5% of time)

• Contribute to the development of the capacity strengthening strategy and ensure joined-up articulation of learning, knowledge management and capacity strengthening.
• Work with Capacity Strengthening Senior Advisor, to facilitate organisational mechanisms for knowledge exchange, learning and capacity-strengthening.

Support fundraising, external engagement, and communications (approximately 5% of time)

• Contribute to the organisation's business development efforts by supporting donor engagement, intelligence gathering, and preparation of funding proposals.
• Provide technical input to specific strategic initiatives and programme design particularly on aspects of knowledge management and programme learning.

Contribute to team processes (approximately 10% of time)

• Provide support to any other relevant processes within the remit of Knowledge Management & Learning team as required as an active member of a small team.
• Support PSK annual planning, budgeting, and reporting processes

About You:

• Proven experience in leading the design and implementation of organisational programme learning and knowledge management strategies.
• Strong knowledge management background with a track record of developing effective strategies and tools to capture, organize, and disseminate program learning.
• Experience in evolving knowledge exchange mechanisms and creating organizational mechanisms for knowledge evolution.
• Extensive experience in determining and implementing learning and knowledge sharing activities using empowering approaches.
