This is a pivotal leadership role for an experienced, values-driven Chair who can provide strategic direction and oversight, strong governance leadership, and visible ambassadorial support to the organisation.

The Gas Safe Charity is seeking to appoint up to three new Trustees to fill vacancies arising from recent resignations.  The charity has a turnover of around £500k and was established in 2009 as a result of the award of the Concession Agreement for gas registration services to Capita plc, establishing the Gas Safe Register.

The Charity works with key partners to provide direct assistance to vulnerable people at times of need and works with trusted intermediaries in the public and voluntary sectors to promote a greater understanding of the signs and symptoms of Carbon Monoxide poisoning.

As a Trustee and Director, you will take a strategic overview of the charity’s activities.  There are six Board meetings a year, plus an Awayday.  Trustees are also expected to be on one of the Review Groups overseeing the charity’s projects.

We would like to hear from you if you have skills and experience in the following areas:

· Marketing and communications

· Finance

· General non executive director experience with the ability to focus and advise on broad strategy and projects run by the charity.

The charity is keen to broaden the diversity of the Board and would welcome candidates who can contribute a diversity of representation and thinking, including people from minority ethnic groups, LGBTQ+ people and people with disabilities.

Trustees are appointed for an initial three year term, which may be extended to a maximum of nine years.

Norfolk Tennis is the county governing body for tennis and padel in Norfolk and a volunteer-led Charitable Incorporated Organisation (Charity No. 1203480). We work in partnership with the Lawn Tennis Association to support clubs, venues, coaches and players across the county, helping more people enjoy the physical, social and community benefits of tennis and padel. Our work aligns with the LTA’s “Tennis Opened Up” strategy, which aims to make the sport accessible, welcoming and enjoyable for everyone. Norfolk Tennis is governed by a Board of Trustees supported by a volunteer Management Committee representing clubs, venues and key development areas across the county. As tennis and padel continue to grow, Norfolk Tennis is seeking individuals to join its Board of Trustees and contribute strategic leadership to the development of tennis and padel across the county.

About the Trustee Role
Trustees play a vital role in ensuring Norfolk Tennis is well governed, financially sustainable and strategically focused. Working collaboratively with fellow Trustees and the Management Committee, Trustees help ensure the organisation operates effectively as a charity while delivering meaningful impact for tennis and padel across the county.

Trustees are responsible for:

• Supporting the strategic direction of Norfolk Tennis
• Ensuring strong governance, accountability and compliance
• Providing independent professional expertise and oversight
• Acting in the best interests of the charity and its beneficiaries
• Helping ensure resources are used effectively to support tennis development

Trustees attend periodic Trustee meetings (typically online) and may attend Management Committee meetings where helpful to maintain alignment between governance and operational delivery.

We are particularly interested in individuals who can contribute leadership or professional expertise in the following areas.

Governance & Charity Law Trustee
To support strong governance and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, Norfolk Tennis is seeking a volunteer trustee with expertise in charity law.

This role focuses on providing guidance on legal responsibilities, governance best practice and risk management to support the organisation’s long-term stability and integrity.

Key contributions include:
• Advising the Board of Trustees on charity law, governance and regulatory requirements
• Supporting compliance with Charity Commission guidance and best practice
• Reviewing governing documents and supporting any required updates
• Providing input on policies, risk management and decision-making processes
• Ensuring the organisation operates within its legal and charitable objectives
• Offering guidance on contracts, partnerships and potential liabilities

This role would suit someone with experience in charity law, governance, legal advisory or regulatory compliance, ideally with an understanding of the charitable or sports sector.

Inclusion & Disability Trustee
Norfolk Tennis is committed to ensuring tennis and padel are open and accessible to all communities.

The Inclusion & Disability Trustee helps champion equality, diversity and accessibility across the county, supporting initiatives that widen participation and remove barriers to involvement.

The role includes:

• Supporting Norfolk Tennis in embedding Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) principles
• Championing inclusive participation for disabled players and under-represented groups
• Advising on inclusive programme development and community engagement
• Supporting initiatives linked to the LTA’s Open Court disability tennis programme
• Helping identify partnerships with organisations supporting inclusive sport

This role would suit someone with experience in EDI leadership, disability sport, community engagement, education or inclusion policy.

Our Second Home is a youth movement that empowers migrants and refugees to flourish in the place that they call home. Our overnight activity camp for young people aged 14-18 is a chance for young people to come together and have five days of fun and excitement, supported by a dynamic and dedicated team of leaders and staff.

An OSH Leader is a supportive adult, a role model, and someone young people can feel safe being themselves around. It’s about creating a warm, fun, and consistent presence during residentials — helping young people with refugee and migrant backgrounds feel welcomed, included, and at home.

Youth Leaders for this project will be responsible for facilitating the camp, and will be directly in contact with, and responsible for, the participants. During the camp they will be ‘on duty’ full-time, meaning that they will spend the whole time with the participants, including at meals.

THIS ROLE IS ONLY FOR PEOPLE LIVING IN THE UK. We will arrange Zoom interviews with applicants separately.

Responsibilities:

• Interacting and forming a bond with the participants
• Creating and running fun and engaging activities for the participants
• Looking after the participants’ welfare, and ensuring that they feel cared for and secure
• Managing the participants’ behaviour and setting clear boundaries

Expectations and requirements:

• All applicants must be interviewed and be willing to provide references on request.
• Youth Leaders must set a positive example of behaviour and involvement for all participants, and adhere to the volunteer guidelines.
• Youth Leaders may be required to prepare activities for participants at the camp. If asked, this must be completed in plenty of time to allow any materials or equipment to be sourced.
• Applicants should be aged 20 or above.
• Applicants must be eligible for DBS clearance (no criminal record that prevents applicants from working with children)
• Youth Leaders must raise any safeguarding concerns swiftly and follow safeguarding procedures
• Youth Leaders must follow all Our Second Home policies and procedures of (which will be explained at the Camp training days).
• Anyone attending an OSH residential must test negative for COVID-19 prior to attending the programme, regardless of whether they have received a vaccine or not.

Youth Leaders will be supported by the Welfare Support Lead(s), who will be their main contact in the build to and throughout the camp. The Welfare Support Lead(s) will run team meetings at the end of each day and be on hand to advise and manage the Youth Leaders.

As a Young Trustee, you will:

-Attend quarterly board meetings (online or in-person)

-Make sure the young people we support are always at the heart of our decisions

-Review reports and information about our work and share your views

-Act as an ambassador for Ditch the Label and the young people we work with

-Bring your lived experience and fresh perspective to everything we do

You'll also have the opportunity to get more involved in specific areas of our work, from online safety to education to campaigns, depending on your interests.

Childline Volunteer Counsellor- Someone who wants to make a difference to children’s lives by being there to listen when they feel they have no one else to turn to. As a Childline counsellor, you’ll be there for young people and listen to them as they open up about whatever is worrying them, whether it’s bullying, abuse, self-harm or family relationships – you’ll be there to support them.

What you’ll do

You’ll volunteer in our Leeds Childline base, offering counselling support to children and young people over the phone or through our 1-2-1 online chat. Your supervisor will help you develop and evaluate your counselling skills. After your initial training, you will be able to help young people as well as identify when a child or young person may be at risk, but don’t worry a supervisor will be on hand to give you plenty of support.

What you’ll get

You’ll receive training sessions over 12 weeks to prepare you for the role. When you start your regular shifts, a supervisor will be around all times to support you. Every shift includes a briefing and debriefing alongside other volunteers. Supervisors will also give you regular one-to-one support and group supervisions.

What we’ll need from you

Signing up to be a Childline counsellor is a big commitment and requires lots of training so, we do ask people to stay in the role for a minimum of one year.

We’ll also need to do some routine safeguarding checks, including an enhanced criminal record check and at least two satisfactory references with at least one covering a period of five years or more with no gaps. It’s nothing to worry about, and we can answer any questions you have about this.

As Treasurer, you'll be the guardian of our wonderful theatre's finances. It'll be your job to keep the committee updated on the theatre's financial affairs. You'll have a full understanding of the Bookkeeper's role, and oversee their work - or, if you wish, you may volunteer for that role too (details available on request). As Treasurer, you'll prepare an annual budget for the theatre, then manage and track progress, producing quarterly reports on actual income and expenditure vs budget. You'll then produce annual accounts for presentation to the independent examiner, and the wider membership at the AGM. The role requires around 25 hours per month of your time, plus an additional commitment at year end. You'll join the board of trustees, which entails a DBS check, and you'll attend monthly committee meetings, in which you'll have the opportunity to contribute to the general running of the theatre.

Training

Over the course of several months, you'll receive a comprehensive handover from the existing Treasurer. At first, you'll shadow them to gain a full understanding of what's required, then they'll shadow you, offering as much support as you need until you're ready to take the reins.

Skills

You'll have a love of numbers (and spreadsheets!), a forensic attention to detail, and great organisational skills. You'll be good at presenting data to people who aren't as mathsy as you, and keen to join a team of friendly, passionate volunteers. This role will be a great fit for a trainee accountant looking for experience, a retiree with bookkeeping or accounting skills, or a self-proclaimed maths geek with time to spare, and a desire to be part of a wonderful community of people.

Come and make a difference to some young people who really need your input.

Go Beyond are a national UK charity giving children who have been bereaved, abused or bullied, who are living in poverty or caring for loved ones the chance to escape their worries and pressures through free breaks in the countryside. We need volunteers to help us deliver fun, creative and adventurous activities throughout the year.

Go Beyond’s centres in Essex, the Cornish coastline, and on the edge of the Peak District are where vulnerable young people facing various challenges in their life come for a week of freedom and fun. Running Monday-Friday throughout the year, our breaks give children and young people the chance for time away from the worries of their everyday life, to make friends, try new things, build confidence, and ultimately go home inspired by what the world can offer them and what they, in turn, can offer the world.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

As a breaks volunteer, you will be part of a team, including trained Break Leaders, and will support by being an extra pair of eyes and ears, and a helping hand where needed. You will spend time with the young people attending Go Beyond and help ensure they have a positive week full of experiences and memories that will last a lifetime!

Full training and support will be given throughout. We have a wide variety of volunteer roles available and key responsibilities can include:

• Helping the Break Leaders with day-to-day tasks, such as setting up activities and keeping the centre tidy
• Assisting at mealtimes with preparing, serving, and cleaning
• Leading planned activities based on your skills with support from Break Leaders (such as baking, sports games, gardening, arts and crafts etc.)
• Capturing photos of special moments for the young people (using Go Beyond cameras only)
• Accompanying our driver to collect or drop off groups and supervise behaviour on the buses
• To be a positive role model and lead by example at all times
• To be encouraging and supportive to the young people and take an interest in each child
• To take part in the activities alongside the young people
• To be aware of boundaries and know when it is important to enforce these
• To inform the Break Leaders of any issues or concerns you have relating to the young people or the break experience
• To contribute to personalised messages which the young people receive in their goody bags as a lasting memory of their Go Beyond break
• To read, sign and ensure Safeguarding and Health and Safety Policies and Reporting Procedures are followed, and contribute to Go Beyond Hazard Analysis Critical Control Principles, Risk Assessment and Quality Assurance processes.

Who we are

Trans+ Learning Lab is a UK CIC delivering life‑changing education and training to gender‑diverse folks in challenging contexts.

The Trans+ Learning Lab CIC is made up of myself (the founder) Helmut (they/them, he/him) and the Uganda Lead, Mama Mityana (she/her). The Uganda Lead receives a part-time wage to deliver stakeholder advocacy and training services in her country; I do not pay myself, and I finance everything from project delivery to procurement from my own savings. 

We are seeking volunteer fundraisers to help us promote, update, and widely share our active and future GoFundMe campaigns and to help us form a funding pipeline in a more raitonal, proactive manner.

In our current project and campaign, we are trying to raise essential funds toward our Uganda training and upskilling incubator project in partnership with Tranz Network Uganda. This particular GoFundme campaign supports the delivery and sustainability of our entrepreneurship incubator.

With future fundraising and comms, you will be involved in shaping our strategy to generate income to implement our other educational mission: to deliver low- or no-cost coding bootcamps to vulnerable LGBTQ+ communities in Africa and South Asia, and to deliver refugee-specific empowerment programmes.

You will be actively helping vulnerable people access safer, more sustainable livelihoods through upskilling in Uganda, Kenya, Pakistan and beyond. 

What you’ll be doing

• Promoting the GoFundMe campaign across your personal and professional networks in the first instance
• Help us design the strategy for, and support, future crowdfunding campaigns and comms
• Sharing campaign updates and calls to action on social media, newsletter and relevant community spaces
• Helping amplify key messages, milestones and calls to action
• Suggesting creative outreach ideas to increase reach and engagement
• Acting as a friendly ambassador for Trans+ Learning Lab’s mission

Who we’re looking for

• Someone confident sharing and generating impactful, engaging fundraising content and asking people to donate
• Someone active on social media and well connected to communities, networks and organisations
• Someone with direct experience of corporate responsibility schemes and engagement (desirable)
• A versatile, excellent written communicator
• A person who is reliable, values‑driven, and above all, respectful and supportive of trans‑led work

Ideally you will have accrued 2-3 years' professional fundraising and campaigning experience in the non-profit sector, but if you have an equivalent voluntary and pro bono expertise in minority causes advocacy and supporter-network building your application is warmly welcomed too. 

LGBTQ+ persons are especially encouraged to apply, though allies are warmly welcome.
