We are looking for a Domestic Abuse Advisor & Trainer

Salary: £26,000 - £32,000 pro rata

Location: Across Brent Community Hubs and Advance Headoffice

About the role:

The postholder will support the delivery of a specialist domestic abuse (DA) project in partnership with Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust (CLCH) in the London borough of Brent. The role aims to raise awareness and promote best practice in responding to domestic abuse across CLCH staff, improving support for patients impacted by domestic abuse. This will involve delivering training, workshops, and guidance to health professionals, providing consultancy on embedding DA response pathways, and helping CLCH navigate referrals to local domestic abuse support agencies. The role combines professional training, advocacy, and systems change to strengthen the health sector’s response to domestic abuse. The postholder will work across the Brent borough, attending community hubs and co-locating to deliver services when needed.

The postholder may be approached by staff seeking advice or consultation regarding male victims of domestic abuse. While the role’s primary focus remains on supporting women, the postholder will be open to supporting male victims through appropriate signposting and referral guidance. They will also be willing to undertake relevant training (e.g. Respect toolkit) to ensure inclusive and informed responses. Training will be provided.

A car may be desirable for this role, though not essential.

About You:

To be successful as the Domestic Abuse Advisor & Trainer you will need the below experience and skills:

• A thorough understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence (physical, emotional and sexual violence, so-called ‘honour-based violence’, forced marriage, stalking and harassment) and its impact on women, children, families and communities.
• Experience in designing, delivering, and promoting engaging training and learning sessions on domestic abuse, tailored to professionals and stakeholders across a variety of settings.
• Experience of partnership working and of maintaining excellent working relationships with a range of stakeholders as well as experience of working within in multi-agency environment.
• Ability to provide consultancy and guidance to multidisciplinary teams on domestic abuse-related issues, offering informed advice and support.
• Excellent communication skills (listening, verbal, and written), with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse professionals and stakeholders.

The Programme Manager role

Main Purpose of the Role:

To lead the Support Team to provide emotional and practical support to families and individuals living with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. It includes leading the support team to provide 1-2-1 and group support provided in person or virtually, and creating and growing support networks for the wider Duchenne community which includes Duchenne parents/caregivers; young people and adults living with Duchenne; extended family and friends; and professionals in environments such as schools, local authorities and clinics. 

Specific Tasks:

The focus areas and key deliverables of this role are as follows:

• Develop a clear process for identifying case loads and capacity for the Support Team.

• Identify opportunities, alongside the team, for cross team working - including residentials; family events; Science Educations workshops with regional meetups and education visits to schools and local authorities.

• Obtain, decipher and provide training to the Support Team on new updates relevant to Duchenne families, such as DLA, EHCP and more.

• Work closely with your team, to ensure that each family receives the best support possible, and that long-term support is provided.

• Lead on the development and delivery of monthly reporting of engagement and support contact, which will feed into the wider All Through Support journey. 

• To work with the Head of Operations and Events to contribute to Agenda topics and speakers from the community; assign roles for the conference to the Support Team.

• Establish a database for external stakeholders also supporting those living with Duchenne on a national basis, fed in to from the Support Team.

• To develop a triaging and caseload process for the Support Team, and how best to regularly monitor this.

• Be involved in the recruitment, selection, and induction of volunteers appropriate to your area of work.

• To maintain the contact database, keeping it up to date and accurate.

• Coordinate cover for the Support Team when there is sickness or leave.

About the job

Over the past decade Pembroke House’s activities in Walworth have grown considerably, with annual turnover rising from £200k to £1 million. Further growth is expected as a result of a new strategy anchored around five 10-year commitments to the neighbourhood, consolidation of our activities across two community buildings and continuing to build wide-ranging partnerships in Walworth.

We are looking for an experienced and skilled financial professional who can steward us through this crucial period of development.  You will be someone who combines a passion for our mission, a keen eye for detail and a flair for interpreting financial information and supporting non-specialists to make sound financial decisions. 

Days will be varied spanning everything from helping budget holders report to funders; preparing accurate financial reports and management accounts; to creating the budgets and frameworks for long-term financial planning. The rest of the core finance team comprises a Bookkeeper and a pro bono Payroll Officer based in Pembroke College, Cambridge. Other members of the team manage petty cash, look after the room hire business (including invoicing and credit control) and administer pensions. 

The trustee’s Finance and Risk Subcommittee formed two years ago and a new trustee position of Treasurer is currently being recruited. The Finance Manager will service and attend the subcommittee’s quarterly meetings and be the main contact point with the Treasurer between meetings.

As a new role there will be plenty of opportunity to mould finance operations across the organisation. Finance systems are currently in place, and have satisfied the auditor over the past few years, but there remains scope for improvement, including through automation and upskilling of the wider team.

Key duties and responsibilities

• Foster a culture of financial responsibility, in conjunction with the Leadership Team.
• Draft the audit file and schedules and assist the auditor with follow up questions and queries.

About the role

We are seeking a technically capable, qualified accountant with strong knowledge of the Charities SORP to provide effective stewardship and oversight of the Finance function at Kinship. You will be responsible for financial controls, management accounting and ensuring the effective delivery of ‘business as usual’ financial management.

As well as producing monthly management accounts, you will be responsible for running the annual budget and the year-end processes, preparing for the yearly external audit and ensuring that the organisation complies with statutory obligations.

You will prepare papers for and attend the quarterly Finance Committee meetings and will liaise with a range of stakeholders including auditors, the bank and investment managers.  You will be the ‘go to’ business partner at the charity, supported by the Chief Operating Officer and Fractional Chief Financial Officer.

You will manage a team of two colleagues – a Senior Finance Officer and a Payroll Manager – providing them with guidance, coaching and support to enable them to perform effectively. You will also collaborate and work with Directors and senior managers across the organisation to inform them on performance against budget and conditions of funding, as well as supporting fundraising and commissioning bids. 

You will have excellent communication skills and will be able to organise conflicting priorities around the monthly management accounts cycle, while supporting the achievement of our strategic objectives. You will be flexible and adaptable in your approach to supporting transformational change in our processes and systems, as well as dealing with, and leading on, the day-to-day financial management. 

This is a broad and challenging role for a dynamic and systems-driven individual who wants to grow within the organisation, proactively problem solve and help colleagues to deliver on our mission.

• Fully qualified ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent

OPERATIONS MANAGER - ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

The Operations Manager is a key support for the church’s leadership and heads the staff team providing management over key operational and missional areas of the church’s activities.

This leadership role supports the ethos and ministries of the church and its mission to be a church for the community - discovering Jesus, sharing God’s love, and caring for those in need.

A vital aim for our church’s work in the local community is that our staff relationships, our Venue ministry, our Christian hospitality and how we use and share our building should all reflect God’s character - showing compassion, generosity, and kindness.

The role has a lot of different components, so we’re looking for someone who sees all aspects of this job as an expression of the church’s mission to proclaim the Good News and will facilitate and serve the congregation, the staff and the volunteer teams as they creatively explore ways to express our Christian ethos through the life and ministries of the church. This therefore requires that they are someone who has a mature Christian faith.

They will need to be a “servant“ leader who is mentally agile, energetic, able to schedule and prioritise, a good delegator, a team player, a quick learner and capable of taking initiatives, with a healthy understanding of self-care - we’re not looking for a “hero”, but someone who can work sustainability.

Leadership:

• Work closely with the church leadership team to support the trustees, staff and congregation in the development of church vision, ethos, mission and ministries.
• Create a positive, Christian work environment, and cultivate supportive team working relationships and working practices that align with the church’s mission.
• Lead the staff team, providing effective leadership, management, administration, recruitment, and staff development. Facilitate the team as they represent the church’s values in the day-to-day open house ministries of the church.
• The Operations Manager must be able to represent the church and the church’s Christian ethos in the absence of the Minister.

Building Management:

• Support and develop initiatives that enable every aspect of the building's use, welcome and presentation to be missional.
• Provide effective management, administration, organisation, maintenance, and development of the WGC church buildings and equipment.
• Coordinate with the Estate Manager to develop long-term maintenance plans for the common parts areas of the building.
• Provide the Trustees with regular building management reports.

Compliance and Legal Administration:

Provide effective management, administration, organisation, and compliance with UK laws, for:

• The maintenance of a safe and healthy working environment.
• Safeguarding, equality and inclusion.
• HR matters including safe recruitment, induction, training and employee development.
• GDPR
• Matters relating to Westbourne Grove CIO charity’s Trust Deeds, Constitution and Church Rules, and leasehold responsibilities.
• Requirements as a registered charity (CIO) including timely submission of reports to the Charity Commission.
• Develop and implement policies, risk assessments and safe working procedures and keep them regularly updated and reviewed. Ensure policies and safe working practices are adhered to.
• Provide adequate information, training and supervision to ensure employees and volunteers are competent to do their work.
• Lead in communications with the freeholder, the management company, the estate manager, and church tenants. Oversee any necessary legal input for decision-making and work closely with the WGC Trustees, and external organisations on decisions relating to the common parts of the building.
• Keep administrative records. Provide reports for the Trustees.

Administrative Services and Support:

• Provide administrative support for the Ministers. Develop and maintain administrative, organisational, communications systems and record keeping procedures for the church’s general administration. Maintain membership and constitutional records.
• Administrate the church's IT infrastructure, broadband, phone systems, and utilities accounts and ensure they meet the operational needs of the building and its ministries.
• Assist the Venue Manager to develop and maintain suitable and effective systems, strategy, pricing, communications, contract management, staffing and customer relations.
• Develop the church’s visibility and profile in the community using the church’s website, social media, ArtSpace, and missional displays and exhibitions, ensuring these align with the church’s ethos and mission.

Financial Oversight:

• Oversee provision of financial management information to Leadership team and Trustees, including budgeting, salaries, financial reports, end-of-year statements. Support them in developing financial strategies and policies.
• Oversee the accurate functioning of church financial systems, controls and procedures. Monitor and administrate reserves and investments.
• Ensure WGC's financial practices comply with UK charity regulations. Assist with the filing of the accounts and annual report to the Charity Commission.

Provide financial oversight, management, and support for:

• Venue ministry finances, pricing and strategy
• Finance Administration - ensure all financial records, payroll, pension administration, invoices, and reports are accurate and timely. Authorise payments.
• Manage the buildings budget including liaising with the Estate Manager regarding common parts expenditure.
• Financial interactions with lease and licence holders including new leases, rent reviews, break clauses and lease renewals, insurance contributions.

To be successful as the Domestic Abuse Housing Advocate you will need the below experience and skills:

You will bring solid experience of supporting women who have experienced domestic abuse in all its forms; coming from a sector with transferrable skills or possess a feminist/VAWG degree and be keen to learn and to train on the job. You will have a good understanding of violence against women and girls with a particular focus on the dynamics of domestic abuse (physical, emotional, and sexual abuse, so-called ‘honour-based violence’, forced marriage, stalking and harassment) and its impact on women, children, families, and communities. You will have proven skills and experience in conducting comprehensive assessments of needs and risk for survivors experiencing domestic abuse, including carrying out short risk management and safety planning. We will expect that you have experience in assessing the needs and safety of any children that women using the service may have and an understanding of the criminal justice system and relevant legislation with regard to legal and civil options, housing, benefits, matrimonial and children. Lastly you will bring your knowledge of safeguarding practice, procedures, and legislation.

Reporting to the Head of Individual Giving, you’ll lead a small, dedicated team to deliver compelling campaigns and stewardship communications across multiple channels – including direct mail, email and phone. 

You’ll be responsible for managing a wide range of donor development activities. These include planning and delivering cash and raffle appeals, and driving cross-sell initiatives such as converting one-off cash donors into regular givers. • Embed an outstanding and inclusive customer experience in every programme ensuring all participants, feel welcomed, supported, and empowered.
• Design and deliver RDA programmes that improve educational outcomes, are tuned into the education system across the home nation, and use best practices that reflect diverse needs and promote inclusive learning environments.
• Manage programme budgets carefully, ensuring RDA achieves value for every pound spent.
• Further development of RDA’s successful programmes (for example ‘Tea with a Pony’ and RDA Accredited Centres), prioritising reach and impact.
• Find creative and innovative ways to take RDA programmes to new audiences, removing barriers to access and opening up opportunities for more people to get involved.
• Ensure efficiency across all aspects of programme delivery, leading a consistent and methodical approach to programme development.

Collaboration and Expertise

• Act as the subject matter expert for all things related to participation programmes, keeping knowledge fresh and relevant, with inclusion and accessibility front of mind.
• Work in collaboration with the coaching team to ensure we develop coaching programmes and materials that underpin the delivery of participant programmes.
• Support the Fundraising Team at events (e.g. Badminton Horse Trials, London International Horse Show) to ensure the visibility and impact of our participation programmes.
• Ensure awareness of trends and shifts in the wider landscape, using data and insight to adapt programmes so they continue to meet the needs of all communities we serve.
• Be an active and positive member of the Participation Team—collaborating, connecting, and contributing to high team performance and inclusive working practices.
• Work with Communications and EDI colleagues to ensure programmes are visible, inclusive, and accessible at every stage.
• Support the Communications and Fundraising Teams to convey how RDA programmes improve lives, highlighting their power to deliver social, physical, and personal development outcomes for all participants.
• Provide support, knowledge and education for the RDA network to establish relations with schools, local authorities and other community partners.

The Grants Officer will support the Senior Manager to develop and implement monitoring and reporting
processes across the Foundation’s grant-giving activities. To be successful in the role, you must have
excellent knowledge of results-based monitoring and reporting, demonstrate strong organisational and
administrative skills, and ideally have experience working with colleagues from different cultural
backgrounds.

The initial focus of the role will be monitoring and reporting in relation to the implementation of a Big 6
EU funded programme, the Youth Empowerment Fund (YEF). This programme focuses on supporting
youth-led initiatives, giving young people the means to be effective agents of change. The YEF is global
in its reach but will focus on supporting local solutions and grassroots initiatives that young people
develop on the ground. The Officer will play a key role in supporting the Senior Manager to maintain and
grow Big 6 advocacy and partnerships for the short and long-term. This role will also work closely with
colleagues from the Operations and Finance team to ensure accurate information is delivered to key
stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities 

Youth Empowerment Fund (60%):

• Support the monitoring and reporting of the EU funded YEF programme. Including coordinationwithin the IAF and with the Big 6 designated leads.
• Communicating with and activating networks of national organizations to participate in the YEF,including sharing opportunities to take part in Big 6 advocacy activities and applying for youthled solutions open-call Local Solutions grants.
• Issuing of grants to successful national organizations and monitoring and evaluation, including regular reporting on outcomes and impact of national projects to the YEF project team.
• Sharing success stories from the YEF to support the Big 6 communication, storytelling and creative reporting efforts.

Other Grant based support (40%):

• Oversee grant-giving financial processes, creating and issuing of grant payments.
• Support the Senior Operations Manager with the reporting of grant activities for Senior Management and various stakeholders.
• Support the ongoing development of other Foundation grant reporting efforts as required.
• Undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required for the successful delivery of the Foundation’s business objectives.
