About the role:
When a person or their family member sustains a spinal cord injury it is a life changing experience. They can feel very isolated and that no one understands what they’re going through.
Back Up’s mentoring service is there to help. We know that peer support can have a life changing impact and our Mentoring Team are the ones who can facilitate this through matching them with a suitable mentor who will be able to support them over a series of phone calls to reach their goals. The Mentoring Team Leader leads the team through providing excellent line management and driving the delivery of the team’s business plans to empower the team to ultimately support more people affected by spinal cord injury
In addition to leading the team, a Mentoring Team Lead will assist in creating mentoring relationships and support mentors and mentees as appropriate, assess mentee suitability and provide support in the process of identifying, recruiting and training new mentors.
A Mentoring Team Lead will be motivated to achieve the aims, targets and milestones that have been set in terms of making quality matches and will be comfortable and efficient with data management and GDPR compliance.
Lived experience is an advantage; but most important is your sharing our commitment to transform the lives of everyone affected by spinal cord injury.

We are seeking a Fundraising Coordinator with a passion for the Future Frontiers mission (you do not need to have previous experience of fundraising) who will play a vital supporting role to secure income that is needed to deliver the Future Frontiers programme for a growing number of young people.
The successful candidate will report to the Senior Fundraising Manager and work closely with the Fundraising and Partnerships teams. Your primary focus will be on charitable Trusts and Foundations: researching suitable funding opportunities and writing external-facing communications. Your responsibilities

You will complete research to find charitable trusts, foundations and businesses that have the potential to support Future Frontiers for the first time and keep detailed notes for the fundraising and partnerships teams. You will use this knowledge to support the pipeline of funding opportunities for the coming years, including making recommendations for the amount of funding we ask for and what it could go towards.
Enquiries and applications
You will write enquiries and applications for funding that are tailored to each recipient and make a convincing case for how their support will make a difference.
Reports and case studies
You will write reports that are tailored to each recipient and demonstrate how their funding has made a difference. This will involve arranging programme visits to speak with young people and develop case studies.
Supporter engagement
You will support the planning and delivery of high-quality, tailored communications and engagement opportunities for existing and potential supporters. This will include supporting individual volunteer fundraisers and employees of business partners.
Record-keeping
You will ensure that key information about our fundraising activity is stored appropriately and with high attention to detail.

This role leads the team providing emotional and practical support provision to families and friends impacted by a disappearance. This is a key safeguarding role to ensure people who are experiencing trauma and ambiguous loss can access our services safely and that their needs are assessed and met.
You will coordinate the charity’s offering to the community affected which includes in person annual events, peer support forum, online and social events and groups, co-production activities, engagement, and opportunities for publicity.
ABOUT YOU
You will need to have experience of:
- Working in a frontline service delivering advice, help or support to vulnerable people or families by phone or digitally;
- Managing an active caseload of people with varying needs regarding frequency and level of support;
- Line managing staff and/or volunteers;
- Understanding and implementing safeguarding procedures, assessing risk, developing needs assessments and handling complex and sensitive situations;
- Planning and running events or groups for service users.
- and possess the following skills:
- Supporting people experiencing trauma;
- Able to maintain a calm and considered approach, to evaluate situations objectively, consult effectively and give appropriate advice and guidance.
- Ability to balance proactive and reactive work, to plan and to meet deadlines;
- Ability to develop and drive forward new projects and initiatives, taking the lead and/or working collaboratively with colleagues
- Group facilitation skills - online and in person.
