Walking and working alongside our partners, you will strengthen, develop, and manage relationships with a varied portfolio of local partner organisations, churches, and local stakeholders to deliver high-impact programmes to benefit communities in need of assistance - helping them to realise their God-given potential.  Sharing their compassion for Christ, you will work strategically with Partners to support their proposal development and delivery of high-impact, locally-owned projects.  You will be responsible for grant management, ensuring organisational governance and controls provide accountability both locally and internationally, including safeguarding practise.

We are looking for someone to join us in strengthening relationships with our broad base of local Christian partner organisations carrying out Gospel inspired work in the region.  Who can bring experience of managing, monitoring and evaluation of locally-owned programmes, to support the development of high-impact projects.  Has an understanding and awareness of the context, dynamics, and challenges of working in the Middle East. Alongside the skills and ability to identify compelling messages from partnership communications to gain support, through prayer, donations and support for our advocacy work. 

Suitable candidates will be:

• Educated to degree level equivalent.
• Highly collaborative, team player prepared to contribute to the overall success of the organisation.
• Inspired by the witness of Christians in the Middle East and passionate about changing the lives of people living in grinding poverty, injustice, disability, trauma and displacement caused by conflict, and other challenges.
• Willing to carry out overseas travel to the region 3-4 times a year.
• Have a sympathy with Embrace’s Christian inspired values, vision and ready with compassion and commitment to serve and work to support Embrace’s Christian mission.
• Advanced or intermediate Arabic would be advantageous.

About Rockinghorse Children’s Charity

Rockinghorse Children’s Charity supports children across Sussex. We support babies, children, young people and their families at the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital and the Trevor Mann Baby Unit in Brighton and all of the specialist children’s wards and baby units throughout Sussex. 

We deliver and fund projects that enable doctors, nurses and other health professionals to do more. All of projects are led by the needs of children and young people and their families.  This includes lifesaving medical equipment, support for parents and families, toys for children spending time in hospitals across Sussex, the environments and spaces that help children feel more at home when they are in hospital and additional staff to make sure children get the best possible care when they are unwell. 

Originally set up in 1967 by Dr Trevor Mann, we have been supporting children for more than 55 years. In that time, we have supported nearly a million children and their families. As the official fundraising arm of the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital, including the Trevor Mann Baby Unit, we work with the NHS, charity partners and the Sussex community to ensure children can be children no matter how unwell they are.

About the role

In 2022 we launched our three-year strategic plan, which prioritised our activities to enable us to support more babies, children and teenagers. As we enter the final year of this strategy the charity continues to expand and develop its projects and services for sick and disabled children all over Sussex: 

We are thrilled to embark on an exciting new project, the Rockinghorse Wellbeing Service, designed to proactively enhance the mental health and well-being of hundreds of children, young people, and families living in Sussex. This innovative service will be situated at the Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital in Brighton.

The Wellbeing Service Manager will be responsible for delivering certain activities based on their skills and experience, collaborating with third-party providers and volunteers for others. This may involve bedside activities to improve the experience of in-patients, as well as group activities within the hospital or out in the community.

Each activity will undergo careful planning and evaluation, incorporating the voices and perspectives of young people. This approach ensures that we provide the most impactful activities to meet their needs.

Our primary goal is to support children and young people managing various illnesses, conditions, and disabilities through activities that alleviate stress and foster connections with others undergoing similar experiences.

We are currently seeking a dedicated and passionate Wellbeing Service Manager to join our team and take the lead on this new service. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in elevating the overall wellbeing of our young patients. The position involves coordinating and implementing a diverse range of wellbeing activities and programs focused on fostering a positive and supportive environment within the hospital.

This role is part of the Projects & Operations team, one of three teams within the charity, alongside the Supporter Engagement team and the Communications team.

Duties of the role 

Develop and Implement the Wellbeing Service

· The Wellbeing Service Manager will form part of a steering committee of senior and experienced NHS staff who are helping to develop and shape the service.

· Design and execute engaging wellbeing programs tailored to the unique needs of children, their families, and hospital staff.

· Collaborate closely with healthcare professionals to integrate wellbeing activities into the overall care plan for paediatric patients.

· Demonstrate proficiency in leading consultations, developing comprehensive plans, and monitoring progress against established goals.

· Work collaboratively with Rockinghorse and the hospital's volunteering service to facilitate meaningful engagements for children and young people, as well as provide appropriate signposting to other services when needed.

Coordinate Events and Activities

· Organise and oversee events, workshops, and recreational activities that promote mental, emotional, and physical wellness.

· Ensure activities are inclusive, age-appropriate and delivered in a way that is trauma informed and enhances wellbeing.

· Develop and manage a database of wellbeing activities to support service delivery and to scrutinise the wellbeing value of each activity as part of our impact and evaluation of activities.

· Ensure compliance with appropriate policies and procedures in line with legislative and regulatory requirements, adhering to best practices in all activities, and working within established frameworks related to safeguarding, confidentiality, and professional practice.

Community Engagement

· Foster partnerships with local organisations, volunteers, and community resources to expand the reach and impact of wellbeing initiatives.

· Develop and maintain relationships with external partners to enhance the support network available to children and their families.

Individual Sessions

· Provide support to children, young people, and families managing various illnesses, conditions, and disabilities, utilising activities that alleviate stress and encourage connections with peers.

· Collaborate with healthcare teams to identify and address specific wellbeing needs of individual patients.

· Take the lead on child protection measures.

Training and Education

· Support the continued professional development of your team and lead them in a solution focussed way to identify and shape areas of improvement for the project.

· Conduct training sessions for hospital staff on incorporating wellbeing principles into their roles and interactions with patients.

· Create educational materials and resources to promote wellbeing awareness and practices.

Monitoring and Evaluation

· Support the development of a Theory of Change and an evaluation model/framework for the wellbeing programme.

· Establish metrics (outputs, outcomes and impact) to assess the effectiveness of wellbeing programs and activities (against the TOC and evaluation framework).

· Gather qualitative and qualitative feedback from patients, families, and staff to continuously improve and tailor future initiatives.

Documentation and Reporting

· Maintain accurate records of wellbeing activities, participation, and outcomes.

· Prepare regular reports highlighting the impact and success of wellbeing programs.

· You will assist Rockinghorse colleagues in providing information for marketing purposes, informing funding applications, providing support for funder visits to the service and any other duties appropriate to the role and in line with the needs of the charity.

 

Person specification 

 

Essential experience, skills and knowledge for the role: 

1. Qualified in a relevant area (eg youth work, social work, nursing, counselling, mental health) or with equivalent professional experience.

2. Experience of working with children and young people and delivering group sessions and activities for young people, using non-clinical interventions to support positive outcomes.

3. Demonstrable understanding of project management and experience managing multiple, complex projects, including budget development and day to day management, project planning and delivery, and project evaluation (setting, monitoring and managing targets, objectives, KPIs and activity plans).

4. Able to work collaboratively and build productive relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, and third-party agencies.

5. Experience in maintaining accurate records, collect data to evidence impact and prepare reports evaluating and monitoring projects.

About the Role

The Homestead Park has been cherished by communities for 120 years since it was gifted to the people of York by social reformer Seebohm Rowntree (son of Joseph Rowntree) so that all individuals, regardless of class or income, could enjoy time in nature.

At JRF, we’re honouring this heritage and turning the leaves of a new chapter in the story of Homestead Park. We’re looking to the future to understand how on our home soil over the next 100 years we can grow opportunities to support JRF’s wider mission which is to ‘speed up and support the transition to a more equitable and just future, free from poverty in which people and planet can flourish’.  We’ll draw inspiration from Rowntree’s radical roots and cultivate the conditions for people to come together to explore the challenges of these times. They’ll connect with themselves, each other and nature, fostering resilient communities where people and the natural world are able to flourish together and plant the seeds for hopeful futures. 

Seebohm’s gift represents a tradition of giving back to the community and ensuring that public spaces remain accessible to all. We want to uphold this tradition and not only preserve a piece of history, but also reaffirm our dedication to creating a park and pavilion community space that serves the needs and interests of the people it belongs to.

We will be developing a ten year plan to help to guide our work in Homestead Park and we’re creating two exciting new roles to support this work: the 'Community Engagement Lead' and the 'Head of Park' role. We’ll work alongside community groups and local people to steer the development of the Park and understand how it can serve communities today and for generations to come.

District Secretary for Administration and Compliance

Do you have the skill, experience and vision to lead in building and maintaining good practice for a newly amalgamated District of the Methodist Church?  We are a collaborative, justice-seeking family of churches, looking for a skilled senior administrator.

This is a senior leadership position in a merged organisation.

1. Collaboration with the District Chair and the District Secretary for Ministries & Vocations in the leadership of the District, and promoting the values of the District in all work practice.
2. Collaboration with the Mission Area Leads to facilitate support of the circuits in relation to the responsibilities of administration and compliance issues.
3. Responsibility for compliance with all relevant legal, financial, and governance matters, including compliance with the relevant parts of The Constitutional Practice and Disicipline of the Methodist Church, including:
   1. budget and accounting, in partnership with the District Treasurer;
   2. data protection;
   3. lay employment processes;
   4. safeguarding.
4. Working with the District Safeguarding Officers, the District Safeguarding Group and others to ensure safeguarding processes for the District are robust and effective.
5. Responsibility, together with relevant District officers and bodies, for strategy for property and finance across the District, and for its implementation.
6. Enabling the District Property Consents group to fulfil their responsibilities regarding property matters within the District.
7. Coordinating the District Grants Policy and its implementation through the District Grants Committee.
8. Ensuring that the District’s responsibilities for Reconciliation and Complaints are fulfilled, including liaising with the other District Leaders and ensuring the appointment and functioning of the District Local Complaints Officer and District Reconciliation and Complaints Support Group(s).
9. Collaboration with the District Chair and others to ensure good practice in internal and external communication, including through the District Communications Officer.
10. Engagement with the District Policy Committee and the District Scrutiny Group processes and meetings.

§  Manage and lead the development and implementation of MfM Business leading on Coporate and Communiting fundraising and relationships 

§  Representing MfM at a senior and strategic level with external partners. 

§  Support and build strategic direction for MFM.

§  Work as a member of the Senior Leadership Team to develop, grow and sustain MfM.

§  Demonstrate an ability to empathise, encourage and support women towards recovery.

§  Promote Mothers for Mothers services to women during activities, as appropriate.

§  Collect and collate data, arrange for completion of monitoring and evaluation forms. Write timely reports giving feedback on the services for the CEO and for project funders.

§  Work in close collaboration with Mothers for Mothers colleagues in the business development to act in the best interests of Mothers for Mothers at all times. 

Training Coordinator

The post-holder will design, deliver, procure, and oversee high-quality training, formation and development programmes to meet the specific needs of the Pastoral Development Department in its support for the local church (parishes and deaneries) and beyond, in line with the new Pastoral Plan.

The key initial priorities of this role are to:

- Audit the current training, formation, and pastoral development needs across the archdiocese.

- Identify effective strategies, platforms and subject matter experts to meet these needs, and design initial training and formation.

- Support the delivery of the pastoral plan, area 2 – vocation of baptised.

You will be joining a small team of professionals who are all committed to supporting the delivery of the Pastoral Plan.
