Mid-Level Giving Officer

Position Objective:

The Mid-Level Giving Officer will support PETA’s impact and growth through their work with an exciting portfolio of mid-level donors typically giving £250 - £999 size gifts. They will be responsible for managing all aspects of cultivating, stewarding and soliciting from this pool of valued supporters, including Vanguard Society Members, to provide a first-rate donor experience while deepening members’ engagement and financial support. The Mid-Level Giving Officer will also work collaboratively with other departments to enhance the mid-level donor experience, identify and refer major donor prospects to the appropriate team members, and ensure that efficient processes are in place.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage and maintain a portfolio of Vanguard Society donors and prospects
• Creating engaging donor journeys and presenting opportunities for deeper engagement
• Develop and implement donor-specific plans of strategic communication touches by phone, email and mail. This will include updates on PETA’s progress and victories, messages of gratitude, invitations to events, and asks to donors to increase their financial support. 
• Manage a portfolio of Vanguard Society and mid-level donors, each giving £250 + or with the capacity to make annual gifts at a higher level (at one time as well as cumulatively), including cultivating and stewarding each donor to increase their engagement and giving.
• Solicit and close gifts from assigned mid-level donors.
• Regularly qualify new prospects and donors in their capacity, inclination, affinity, and readiness to give.
• Track and achieve key activity and revenue metrics, while meeting weekly with the manager to report on progress, challenges, and opportunities.
• Ensure that mid-level donors’ database records are updated in a timely fashion. Document pertinent information (meetings, correspondence, notes, etc.) for the purpose of enhancing and developing PETA's donor database.
• Coordinate and collaborate with other teams and colleagues, including legacy, direct response, data, prospect research and communications, to enhance the donor experience and ensure that efficient processes are in place.
• Stay up-to-date on mid-level fundraising techniques and methods used in the nonprofit sector and attend professional-training opportunities as well as weekly coaching and progress reporting meetings
• Conduct oneself in a professional, friendly and truthful manner to donors.
• Perform any other duties requested by the supervisor.
• Acknowledge, thank and recognise donors appropriate to their level of support, and ensure restricted gifts are appropriately allocated
• Work with key PETA staff to find ways to engage donors in our mission, including by meeting supporters face to face or over the phone
• Monitor donors’ motivations and help to contribute to tailor cultivation events
• Maintain a clear understanding of – and the ability to articulate – PETA's objectives as well as details of specific PETA programmes
• Keep all donors in the portfolio up to date on the campaigns and initiatives of PETA and our affiliates
• Document pertinent information for the purpose of enhancing and developing donor profiles, including demographic, donation, correspondence, membership, and personal information for Vanguard Society members
• Maintain and expand knowledge of relevant departmental software (e.g. Raiser’s Edge, NXT, etc) in order to improve communication with donors
• Assist with the preparation and proofreading of mailings and other communications, as needed
• Monitor the acknowledgment process at Woods, working closely with staff to ensure that acknowledgements and welcome packs are sent out efficiently and that queries are passed to us within the agreed timeframe
• Maintain strict confidentiality at all times
• Perform and manage any other projects or duties requested by the supervisor

About Us

The Upper Room (TUR) works with a wide range of financially and socially disadvantaged groups including homeless people, people with long-term mental health conditions, asylum-seekers, refugees and ex-offenders – helping them to improve their lives and become productive members of society. Central to our offering is our UR4Meals service, providing free, home-cooked food to people who cannot afford to provide for themselves. We are also very proud of our UR4Driving programme, which supports people recently out of prison with free driving lessons in exchange for community volunteering. Additionally, our UR4Jobs project focusses on both client wellbeing and breaking down the many barriers to employment faced by disadvantaged people every day.

The role

This newly scoped role reports into the CEO and is critical to our ability to create the income we need to keep up with the ever-increasing demand on our services. Primarily, the role has two fundamental elements to it: firstly, working with both a specialist external consultant and the CEO in planning, submitting and reporting on the grants that make up a large proportion of our income; and secondly, the planning and managing of TUR’s traditional (and always fun) annual events. These include celebrity interviews and talks, garden parties and various community events such as the Green Days festival in Chiswick. There are additionally a number of community relationships that add great value to our work and efforts to raise funds which require regular contact. Occasionally, the role will also require presenting or talking to both funders and community groups as we share our magnificent story with them – and ultimately, convince them to support us.

About You

You live within – or know well – West/Central London; you probably need a job with some working flexibility and want to have genuine belief in the cause you’re promoting. You have a CV that demonstrates experience in a comparable role: this could be in another charity, CIC or other Non-Profit organisation. You are comfortable and confident with working autonomously, so you will need to be disciplined; you can articulate and ‘bring to life’ our story through your advanced written and oral communication skills, enabling us to always deliver highly compelling reasons to secure gain financial (and other) support. You don’t need to be a Microsoft Office expert, but you should be familiar with Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Finally, you are self-motivated and energetic, as well as passionate about making sure disadvantaged groups across West London get the opportunity to improve their highly challenging lives. Ideally you will have a driver's licence and use of a car, but this is not essential.

Affiliate Fundraising Training Consultant (Part-Time)

Summary

The Wikimedia Foundation is the non-profit organization that operates Wikipedia – one of the most popular websites in the world, viewed 15 billion times every month. The Wikimedia Foundation seeks a Fundraising Training Consultant to work with Wikimedia affiliates to grow and develop their fundraising processes and capacity. In this one-year, 30 hour/week contract role (with potential option for renewal) you will be responsible for working with affiliates to understand their fundraising needs and challenges, and to provide them strategic guidance and support as they put in place necessary structures and processes that will aid their fundraising efforts. This role will focus on building the capacity of affiliates to raise funds from a variety of new-to-the-movement donors, including government, multinational and multilateral funding opportunities, and local high networth individuals, as well as advising on systems and structures (e.g. Board composition) for strategic fundraising.

With affiliates located around the globe, the person in this role will need to be skilled in relationship management and cross-cultural communication. This role involves close collaboration with affiliate fundraisers and leadership.  You will report to the Major Gifts Stewardship Manager (Fundraising) and work closely with the Vice President of Community Growth. This is a one-year contract and remote role that offers flexible scheduling with a commitment of 30 hours per week.

• Training: Provide learning opportunities for affiliate staff to build their skills around mid-level and major gift fundraising.

The successful candidate will empower and guide their team to sustainably push forward with fundraising strategy and delivery, nurturing relationships with trusts, foundations, corporations, high net worth individuals, Catholic networks, parish communities, and individual supporters. In addition to leading and developing the fundraising team, the Head of Fundraising will be part of our collaborative Executive Team, working closely with colleagues in Communications and Engagement, Business Development, Finance, and across our Services regions and specialisms. They will also receive support from our Head of Faith in Action, who reports to the CEO, and collaborate with our Chair of Trustees, Professor Jim McManus, and other trustees. Safe Passage International (SPI) is recruiting a Head of UK Legal Team to lead our ground-breaking legal work in the UK. The UK Legal team works to ensure that safe routes exist for all people seeking asylum. The team specialises in providing free legal advice and representation to unaccompanied children and families seeking asylum in the UK.

The Head of UK Legal Team will be a UK-based qualified solicitor or barrister or OISC Level 3 accredited caseworker or IAAS Supervising Senior caseworker with experience of working within the UK in a legal capacity, specifically in the area of asylum, immigration and refugee family reunion.

Reporting directly to the CEO, you will lead a high performing team of immigration lawyers, casework supervisors, and caseworkers. You will drive the development and delivery of our legal strategy in the UK; supervise all UK legal casework; lead our litigation strategy; develop good practices of line management and regulatory compliance within the team; and lead legal policy work by collaborating closely with colleagues within the UK, France and Greece to create a cohesive, powerful, cross-border legal response and framework.

You will also work closely with the Heads of SPI Greece and France, our International Safeguarding and Protection Manager, Experts by Experience Consultants, and Safe Passage Young Leaders to shape our legal function.

This is a vital role within the senior leadership team of a young and dynamic organisation. Action Syria (formerly Hands Up Foundation) is a small and innovative charity that funds health and education programmes in Syria and neighbouring countries. Hands Up Foundation was founded in 2012 and has raised millions for humanitarian aid in Syria and surrounding countries. This role is offered on a flexible permanent contract basis paying a salary between £40,000 to £50,000 per annum with flexible hybrid working arrangements at their Office in Shoreditch.

This newly created role will be part of the senior leadership team and lead the fundraising function at Action Syria. The post holder will work with the CEO and team to deliver their ambitious fundraising goals over the next three years with an aim to increase annual income to £1 million. Partnering with grantmaking trusts and foundations is fundamental in helping Parkinson’s UK to deliver the impact we want to see for people affected by Parkinson's. As a Trusts Officer, you will be a part of our dynamic and high performing Major Gifts and Special Events team. We have a well established programme raising circa £5 million a year across the department to fund our vital work but big ambitions to grow that further by 2025. This year is a really exciting time to join as we embark on Parkinson’s UK’s £12m Nurse Appeal.

About the role

This role is part of the trusts and statutory team of eight. In this role you will coordinate trust fundraising activity within a large portfolio of funders, identifying trusts and foundation prospects and writing high quality proposals and reports in collaboration with supportive colleagues in the team and across the charity. It is a permanent, full time position with an established portfolio of four and five figure trust donors, and the opportunity to grow this significantly in the coming years. Together with our other Trusts Officer, you’ll oversee the small trusts programme of regular supporters, create tailored approaches to bigger funders in your portfolio, and support other team projects and cultivation events.

What you’ll do

• Cultivate strong working relationships with a portfolio of trust and foundation supporters increasing their engagement with and support of the charity.

• Maintain an active portfolio of small and mid-sized trust funders, and research new trusts increasing your own portfolio. 

• Create clear and concise proposals and reports for trusts in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, including for project and region-specific funding requests.

• Identify the most appropriate approaches for specific trusts and opportunities to increase giving and secure multi-year gifts, thanking promptly and appropriately.

What you’ll bring

• Ability to manage a large portfolio of contacts, working autonomously and managing a diverse workload with appropriate time management, planning and prioritisation

• Excellent research and writing skills to write persuasive copy capable of securing four or five-figure gifts from charitable trusts and foundations.

• Ability to work effectively with a range of internal and external people, including trust administrators and trustees, influencing them to support new projects through written proposals, meetings, site visits and calls.

• Knowledge of the requirements of trust funders, the principles of bid-writing and effective project reporting.

• Knowledge of the trust fundraising environment in the UK, especially those supporting health causes, welfare, disability and scientific research.
