Expected outputs:
- Research and develop a pipeline of potential new funding sources whose criteria match our aims and activities and prepare and submit applications (with an emphasis on larger, multi-year grants)
- Assess existing and new funding needs and prepare an action plan, with targets and timelines, for approaches across the next six to 12 months.
- Develop approaches and applications for already-identified potential funding sources.
- Help manage reporting and relationship engagement requirements.
- Keep databases and other internal information sources up to date.
Experience and skills required:
- Success in securing five and six figure multi-year grants and donations from trusts and foundations, particularly grants that cover core activities.
- Ability to absorb information quickly, know what information is needed, and how best to present it in interesting and engaging content.
- Good working knowledge of preparing fundraising and proposal budgets.
- Confidence and ability to communicate with donors and potential supporters with passion and expertise.
- A creative and affective approach with attention to detail and ability to work to deadlines.
- Honesty and integrity.

Furnishing Futures is the first charity in the UK to create trauma-informed, fully furnished and decorated homes for vulnerable women and children rehoused in social housing or living with furniture poverty after domestic abuse, at no cost to them.
We design and install beautiful, safe homes that make women and children feel cared for. We do this by taking good quality furniture donated by the interiors industry to reduce landfill waste and giving everything a woman needs. This helps break the cycle of poverty, boosts the confidence of disadvantaged women, and supports their mental and physical well-being.
We are looking for a freelance fundraiser to carry out the practical tasks needed to increase our capacity to manage our current grant and major relationships, to research and assess what new opportunities are out there, and to develop new and significant, multi-year funding relationships with trusts and foundations. About the role
This is a new role within the Philanthropy and Strategic Partnerships team responsible for developing and leading our major donor programme. Myeloma UK is embarking on an ambitious five-year income generation strategy, which aims to increase income from £5m to £10m by 2028. This position will play a critical role, working alongside the Head of Philanthropy and Strategic Partnerships to double the income we raise from major donors and family trusts by securing 5-6 figure grants for a range of innovative and life changing programmes – including patient and family support, research and advocacy. The Philanthropy Manager is also responsible for managing and supporting the Philanthropy Officer in securing mid to high level donations from individuals.
The major donor programme at Myeloma UK is established - we have a strong community of existing high-level supporters and have identified significant potential donors within our community - but these opportunities have not been fully leveraged in the past. Building on this foundation, and a major fundraising Gala planned for Spring 2024, there is a significant opportunity to transform this area of fundraising and this role will be instrumental in delivering a step change in our approach. The role requires outstanding relationship building skills, and the ability to work with high-net-worth individuals, to build credibility and trust and inspire them to support Myeloma UK.
About you
You will be an experienced major donor fundraiser with the ability to secure 5-6 figure gifts and lead others to do the same. You will be a strategic thinker, who is ready to lead and implement our major donor strategy alongside the Head of Philanthropy and Strategic Partnerships.
We need someone with exceptional relationship management skills with the ability to nurture high value relationships and also work closely with senior colleagues, Trustees and other volunteers to build deep and long-lasting donor relationships. It will be crucial to work closely with colleagues across the charity to identify fundraising priorities, develop fundraising propositions and involve them in the cultivation and stewardship of key relationships.
You will be a skilled communicator and negotiator with the ability to communicate complex scientific information in an engaging way. We need someone who can build relationships from scratch, uncover donor motivations and convey the importance of Myeloma UK’s work to inspire support.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a dynamic and growing fundraising team as a Corporate Fundraising Manager, in this part-time, remote working role.
The charity is an international development organisation working with people in the drylands of Africa to tackle poverty and the effects of the climate crisis by growing trees, improving people's incomes and restoring and protecting land.
Position: Corporate Fundraising Manager
Location: Remote (onsite at the Bristol office at least 1 day per fortnight)

The Role
The charity has just launched an ambitious new strategy to grow its unrestricted income and is looking for an experienced corporate fundraiser to lead the delivery of the corporate fundraising. You will manage existing corporate supporters whilst identifying and securing new partnerships to meet annual income targets.
You will be working with the Head of Fundraising, a full-time Corporate Fundraising Assistant and a corporate fundraising consultant, plus other members of the fundraising and comms team to develop, manage and deliver the exciting corporate fundraising plans.
Key tasks of the Corporate Fundraising Manager include:

About the PKD Charity
Founded in 2000, we’re the first and only UK charity solely dedicated to improving the lives of an estimated 70,000 individuals and their families affected by polycystic kidney disease (PKD) in the UK.
PKD is a range of life-threatening inherited conditions that can cause kidney failure and affect other organs in the body such as the liver, brain, heart and bowels. Most people with PKD live with an uncertain prognosis, intermittent pain and infections, and then have to undergo life-saving dialysis or transplant in their 50s. About the role

EXPERIENCE
- At least three years of experience in fundraising in the culture sector
- Substantial experience in writing grant proposals, corresponding with funders and reporting to funders
- A thorough understanding of the funding landscape (especially grant-givers), in Scotland primarily but also in the UK and internationally, and possible prospects for SDI
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, including networking at events An understanding of the ways in which aspects of SDI's work can be presented to appeal to different types of funder
- Experience of impact monitoring and evaluation, and its importance to funders
- Attention to detail and a passion for research
- Membership of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising and working knowledge of the Code of Fundraising Practice.
Desirable
- A passion for documentary and understanding of SDI’s place in the industry
- Competence with client databases and their use for fundraising purposes
- Experience working in a busy arts charity
- Experience in designing and hosting events for funders
