A Finance Officer is required within our vital and growing community organisation to; manage financial systems, create and report on finance to the trustee board and stakeholders of the Loughborough Community Centre.
What you would do:
Oversight and day to day management of the organisational financial systems, including:
- Using Quick Books, spreadsheets to track expenses and company spending.
- Company payroll, tax and financial auditing.
- Keeping well-organised files and records of business financial activity.
- Archive of reports, receipts, and other financial evidence.
- Keeping financial databases up to date.
- Interacting with customers either on the phone or in person.
- Following up on business financial communications, billing, and ordering.
- Communicating with funders, suppliers and vendors.
- Company Invoicing.
- Using Quick Books, spreadsheets to track expenses and company spending.
- Collecting and inputting company data within the financial systems.
- Learning about the company's mission and available products/services.
- Assist with financial technical support.
- Acting as a personal assistant to the Director and/or board of LCC for financial matters.
- Giving feedback on finance efficiency and suggesting possible improvements.

About the role
Community Action Suffolk has an exciting new vacancy to support the Chief Executive drive forward its vision and services.
We are looking to recruit a strategic leader as the Chief Operating Officer.
As part of the Executive Team this role will provide strategic leadership across the charity and subsidiary companies operations.
The successful candidate will have a passion for the VCFSE sector and champion community action and volunteering. You will be an excellent communicator at all levels, able to write and speak persuasively to a diverse range of groups. You will provide inspiration and strategic leadership, enabling and supporting all parts of Community Action Suffolk to successfully engage in delivering its strategic objectives. You will need to be driven, pro-active, flexible and resourceful, and capable of embracing change with open arms.
Contributing to the implementation of CAS’s core strategy, annual budget, business plan and strategic priorities, you will be responsible for leading and motivating staff, and will work with the Deputy Director of Operations and Business Development to support provision across the county and generate sustainable forms of income. You will be expected to continually and ambitiously seek further funds to support our priorities and help develop CAS as the ‘go to’ organisation for the VCFSE sector in Suffolk.
You will foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and high performance ensuring alignment between functions to improve collaboration and drive results and will identify operational risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure business continuity.
You will be a natural influencer with the ability to persuade, guide and motivate. Innovation plays a significant role in everything we do at CAS and your ideas will play a pivotal role in CAS’s future. In addition to deputising for the Chief Executive when required, you will also need to be able to work operationally to support the wider management team problem solving and dealing with issues, obstacles and opportunities as they arise. Job description
We are looking for someone to provide key administrative support for our local and community energy projects. The post holder will help to build relationships and ensure robust administration, focussing primarily on our grant schemes and capacity building work with community organisations.
Pay and conditions
- The role is full-time (37.5 hours per week).
- The salary for the role will be £25,600 - £29,147.
- You will be entitled to 25 days paid holiday (plus statutory holidays).

Specific responsibilities
An applicant appointed to the role will be expected to:
- To play a key role in co-ordinating our grant giving for community organisations, including having direct communications with grantees, tracking payments, monitoring delivery, and maintaining records.
- To liaise with a range of stakeholders, potentially including community groups, local authorities, town and parish councils, and neighbourhood planning groups.
- To support the planning, promotion and delivery of training sessions, workshops and events.
- To represent CSE on a range of projects, in external in-person and online meetings and events.
- To support promotion of CSE projects, activities, reports and publications to ensure effective engagement with the target audience.

Essential attributes for this role include:
- 5 GCSEs at grade A-C or equivalent, including English (or 4 or above).
- Providing administrative support in an organisation or project context.
- Working on more than one project or set of tasks at once, working to deadlines and being accountable for your time.
- Engaging and supporting a range of stakeholders.
- Planning and delivering effective in person and online events.
- Understanding broad themes driving the sustainable energy, fuel poverty and climate change work of CSE, and an appetite to learn and improve your understanding.
- Able to use Teams, Zoom or other online meeting platforms.
- Grant scheme delivery and grant management systems.
