What can you expect in the role?

You will be responsible for supporting adults who have single or combined sight and hearing loss with daily living tasks, from shopping, household cleaning and dealing with correspondence, to going out to galleries or places of interest, lunch out with friends or assisting them to their appointments.
It’s important for you as a trusted support worker to build good relationships with customers, empowering individual’s independence and engage well in conversations. Within this contract you will be supporting both male and female customers.
Do you need experience?
Experience isn't always necessary, however, our client does ask all employees to demonstrate & share their care values and positive attitude to ensure they deliver high quality support. Similar experience within a Support Worker or Social Care role and a British Sign Language (BSL) Level 2 qualification would be advantageous.
The successful applicant will need to be able to travel independently, lone working but also happy to work within customers homes. You will need to complete employment checks and an enhanced DBS check (paid for by the client)

* To make initial telephone/email contact with foster carers and/or families to offer support and advice.
* Multi agency working through remote case consultations and attendance at multi agency meetings to provide emergency advice and guidance from a trafficking/modern slavery perspective.
* To offer phone consultations with professionals to support them in submitting NRM referral
* NRM work including completion of NRM checks, NRM submissions in conjunction with partner agencies & follow up of SCA notifications where capacity allows
* To compile tailored safety guidance plans specific to the needs of each young person referred.
* To undertake initial assessments of children referred into the service and where appropriate, offering immediate advice and support directly to children and young people to minimise missing episodes and re-trafficking.

Summerfield is a 6-bedded residential home in Abingdon, Oxfordshire which supports children with significant disabilities ranging from physical health needs to autistic spectrum condition.
We are seeking caring and fun filled staff who will be passionate about the children we care for, showing understanding and patience in your approach.
Ideally, you will hold an NVQ level 3 or equivalent qualification in a relevant field however substantial experience of working with children with disabilities in the community or in a care setting may be considered adequate.
Due to the needs of our children the role will include providing personal care and supporting those who experience challenging behaviour and advocating for their needs. We liaise daily with external agencies including Social Workers and Schools. A comprehensive Induction and Training program will be given to enable you to support them to a high standard.
Our staff team work flexibly around a 24 hour day. These shifts are mornings, afternoons, overnights and weekends. Long shifts will be considered reducing the number a week to three.
