A fantastic opportunity has arisen with a human rights charity for a Financial Controller, on a full-time, permanent basis. You will be reporting to the Head of Finance with a primary focus on the charity's financial accounting.
You will manage a team of 5 and ensure efficient and accurate accounting. The post will take primary responsibility for producing the charity's annual accounts and other statutory returns, and lead relationships with a range of external stakeholders, including auditors, tax advisors and bankers.
Please note, this role offers hybrid working with a requirement to be in the office once every week or 2, however, it could occasionally be more.
As Financial Controller, you will:
- Oversee the control environment, and processing of all income and expenditure, maximising efficiency, and maintaining the integrity of all financial data
- Develop the charity's financial policies to keep up with regulation and best practice, and ensure the financial skills are there across the organisation to meet these policies
- Maintain strong and continual lines of communication with all budget holders, to ensure financial policy and procedures are adhered to and that the necessary information is received to meet multiple governance and statutory reporting deadlines
- Be responsible for the processing of financial information and production of statutory accounts, VAT returns and any other regulatory returns
- Support the Head of Finance as a key member of the financial strategic leadership in the organisation and be involved in a range of key change projects
The successful applicant will:
- Have significant demonstrable experience in finance within the charity sector, in a similar role
- Be fully qualified (hold a Professional Chartered Accountancy Qualification)
- Have demonstrable experience with producing year end statutory accounts in Charities SORP format
- Have experience of line management and supporting teams
- Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

You’ll then devise creative ways to share these stories so they connect with our different audiences, from prospective residents to new supporters and beyond.
A self-starter, you’ll need to be able to work independently within agreed brand guidelines and with minimal supervision. You’ll also need to be highly organised, ensuring that deadlines are met and that content lands in a timely manner. Through analytics, you’ll monitor engagement, using these insights to inform our evolving content plan and drive growth.
As well as creating compelling content for our core communications platforms, you’ll also provide valuable support to our ambitious press plan, helping to amplify the voice of Pilgrims’ Friend Society in local and national media.

Purpose of Role
The Finance Business Partner is the bridge between Finance and the other Directorates we support. The focus of the role is to provide finance expertise to budget holders to help them to understand their financial information and make informed decisions about their areas.
It is someone who truly partners with budget holders, to understand the key drivers, needs and priorities of different areas of the organisation and works with the relevant stakeholders to deliver our ambitious strategic goals.
The role
Support to budget holders:
- Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of all areas of the organisation.
- Establish strong relationships with and become the finance point of contact for budget holders with queries.
- Review monthly performance with budget holders and agree any revisions that are needed.
- Provide high quality financial support and training to budget holders on processes to develop effective budget management and controls.
- Implement and maintain strong business processes to support record-keeping, analysis, and good decision-making.
Monthly reporting process:
- Support the Head of Finance with month end process, to include: reconciliation of legacy funding with outsourced support organisation, accruals and prepayments.
- Run and review cost centre reports prior to sharing with budget holders.
- Distribute cost centre reports to budget holders and discuss variances .
- Compile incorrect transactions from budget holders and post correcting journals. Investigate reasons for mispostings and instigate corrective action.
- Produce management accounts and related variance analysis for Executive Leadership Team.
Budget and quarterly forecasts:
- Lead and coordinate the annual budget process, 3-year planning and quarterly reforecasting.
- Produce templates and guidance to support budget holders with budgeting and forecasts.
- Arrange meetings to discuss and support budget holders with completion of templates.
- Work with the Chief of Staff to align the annual budget and business planning processes.
Funder proposals and reports:
- Support Fundraising team and Programme implementation teams with proposals to funders.
- Work with budget holders to develop and maintain list of funding, timelines and reporting requirements.
- Prepare financial reports for external funders.
Ongoing support:
- Work closely with the Fundraising team to improve and strengthen reconciliations, reporting and system links between the CRM system (Salesforce) and the Finance System.
- Develop and deliver training to staff and volunteers on finance processes and understanding financial information.
- Support with the development and monitoring compliance of the financial policies and processes and controls.
- Support Finance process improvement activities.
Finance team tasks:
- Creation of and running reports and transaction queries from SUN systems using Q&A.
- Managing quarterly VAT return process.
- Support annual external audit to include preparation of schedules and financial statements/notes.
Undertake such other duties as may be reasonably required of the post holder by the Ramblers.

- Qualified Accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA, CiPFA or equivalent formal qualification) or in the final stage of qualification.
Knowledge and Experience
- Substantial experience of charity fund accounting (SORP).

They are seeking an experienced, strategic accounting professional to work with the Treasurer, Chief Executive and Managing Director, to devise and implement the Trust’s finance strategy, to ensure they have the resources they need to deliver their charitable objectives. The Finance Director will be responsible for ensuring an effective finance function; leading on the financial management of the Trust; overseeing financial compliance and governance; and the development and oversight of our Financial Strategy.

The key duties of the Director of Finance are as follows:
- Support the CEO and Senior Leadership Team in developing HET's organisational strategy and plans, ensuring they are financially sustainable.
- Play a key role in the senior management team and attend and present at various Committee and Board meetings.
- Prepare and present accurate and timely financial data and supporting narrative including strategic plans, budgets, management accounts, and live forecasts, updated monthly or as required.

New Horizon Youth Centre has been commissioned by the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) as part of an Alliance with Safer London, St Giles Trust and the Anna Freud Centre to deliver on their Children and Young People’s Violence and Exploitation and Reduction support service. The commission will run from June 2024 for three years. As part of this, an additional service will be set up within the NHYC Youth Justice team specifically to deliver on the Alliance contract. Meet your Manager
In this role, you will be managed by Kasheena Paryag. In 2017, Kasheena started her career in the non profit sector and has had various finance roles in both charities and grant making organisations since. Kasheena joined ClientEarth in March 2022 and is based in our London Office. As a Finance Business Partner, Kasheena is the main point of contact for our CEO, Business Services and External Affairs departments, and works closely with these teams.
Main Duties
- Management Reporting - Support in the timely and accurate production of monthly management reporting from Workday Adaptive taking responsibility for running the reports for a number of budget departments.
- Budgeting and Forecasting - Support, as appropriate, with annual budget setting, entity budgets, monthly forecasting, process improvements and budget assumptions including Adaptive Planning modelling.
- Data Integrity - Ensuring accurate coding of transactions, raising and responding to queries from budget holders.
Role requirements
- Actively studying for ACA/ACCA/CIMA. Study support provided
- Experience of working with Access Dimensions, FocalPoint, Workday Adaptive or other similar accounting packages
- Experience of managing deadlines through a financial month end process

Who would you be working for?
Ruach City Church is one of the largest and fastest-growing non-denominational Pentecostal Christian churches in Europe. Founded in December 1992, the church is known for hosting interdenominational events and has a mission to bring the church to the people with four sites across the UK and regular live streams of their worship.
What is the role?
Joining the organisation at a pivotal time, with various exciting upcoming projects, you would be reporting directly into the CEO. Main responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Overseeing the entirety of the Finance department and four direct reports
- Acting as a business partner for the Finance department; liaising with various stakeholders at a number of different levels, communicating financial information effectively
- Budgeting, forecasting and long-term financial planning to ensure maintained financial health of the Church
- Responsibility for the year-end accounts and audit liaison
- Ensuring all financial processes and governance within the Church adhere to up-to-date regulations; developing new policies where necessary
What do you need to succeed?
- A full accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA or equivalent)
- Experience, or desire to be working within a charity finance function
- Demonstrable, extensive post-qualification accounting experience, having managed teams and interacted with Senior Leadership Teams, The Board, etc.
- Confident user of Excel and other accounting systems
- Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders at differing seniority

Job Purpose
Finance
• To lead and manage the Harris Federation finance function so that Harris delivers its educational aims and objectives as well as meets all DfE and EFSA requirements
• To be responsible for the financial sustainability and development of Harris Federation and for the financial probity of the organisation
• To ensure the provision of an efficient, responsive, reliable, and effective financial service to the Harris Federation.
• To support the CEO in his role as Accounting Officer in line with the Academy Finance Handbook
• To provide strong leadership and direction to an established central finance team consisting of 35 staff), this being the led by a strong Financial Controller and the business partnering team led by a strong Head of Business Partnering
• To manage the Financial Controller and oversee the operational finance and accounts team
• To manage the Head of Finance Business Partnering and oversee relationships with key stakeholders across the academy network
Operations
• To work alongside the CEO and Directors to continue the development of an effective and efficient business model for the Harris Federation central services
• This will align with the Oracle roll out where the current operating model will require business change that will drive the efficiencies and benefits a new and sophisticated system like Oracle can bring
• To give strong leadership and direction to the central systems team (circa 6 staff), this team currently supporting the roll out of the Oracle system across HR, Payroll and Finance
• To ensure the provision of an efficient, responsive, reliable and effective systems support and development service to the Harris Federation
Senior Finance Officer for a Central London Institute.
£40,000 Salary
Hybrid working
To assist with the provision of financial accounting duties for the organisation. In this role, you will be responsible for system reconciliations to validate the integrity of the financial ledgers.
You will also be expected to support the day-to-day application of the organisations' various financial recording and reporting systems.
* Responsible for tracking and maintaining record of donations between the bank, ledger and the CRM system, ensuring that entries are up-to date and accurate. * Reconciliation of the groups bank accounts on a weekly basis, with necessary actions identified and tracked to resolution. * Manage the weekly review and tracking of actions being taken in respect of sales invoices past due. * Providing support to the deputy financial controller in the preparation of quarterly group VAT returns with reconciliation of Input and Output VAT.
Skills/Aptitudes/Knowledge:
1. Accountancy qualification - AAT level 3 or a demonstratable equivalent on professional accountancy qualification pathway.
2. Knowledge and understanding of principal concepts under UK GAAP.
3. A good working knowledge of book-keeping entries, general ledgers, reconciliations, VAT.
4. Computer literate with an aptitude for finance systems and a good working knowledge of standard office software.
5. Well organised with a strength in prioritising.
6. Good presentation skills and an ability to explain complex transactions.
7. Accuracy, with attention to detail.
8. Effective interpersonal and written communication skills to liaise with internal and external colleagues (including suppliers) and produce appropriate reports and correspondence as required.
Experience:
9. Proven experience and aptitude in complex reconciliations and strong technical ability in accounting basics (debits, credits and control accounts).
10. Evidence of working with a variety of systems and tools to support reconciliations.
