An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Management Accountant to join a well-established international charity. Working closely with senior finance colleagues in the UK and overseas, you'll play a key role in delivering accurate financial information, supporting budget holders, and helping shape the future of the finance function.
Key responsibilities
- Produce monthly management accounts from journals through to financial statements
- Complete month-end close activities including accruals, prepayments and reconciliations
- Carry out detailed variance analysis against budgets and prior year performance
- Prepare financial reports and board-level information
- Support annual audit processes and statutory reporting requirements
- Work collaboratively with finance colleagues across multiple international locations
- Provide financial support and insight to budget holders and non-finance stakeholders
- Identify and implement improvements to financial processes and reporting
We're looking for someone with
- Newly qualified or part qualified, in an accounting qualification (ACCA / CIMA)
- Strong month-end management accounting experience within the charity sector
- Understanding of UK GAAP and Charity SORP (FRS 102)
- Experience preparing management accounts from source data through to reporting
- Knowledge of journals, accruals, prepayments and bank reconciliations
- Excellent analytical skills and experience of variance analysis
- Advanced Excel skills including Pivot Tables and XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Experience of audit processes and working with auditors
- Knowledge of tax regulations including VAT, payroll etc.

This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive Management Accountant to join a values-led finance team and support the Head of Finance in delivering high-quality reporting, budgeting, forecasting and financial insight across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Monitor financial performance, track KPIs and provide clear variance analysis against budget.
- Support annual budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling and scenario planning.
- Assist departments to understand and manage their budgets, providing clear financial insight to non-finance colleagues.
- Support compliance, statutory accounts, audit documentation and the development of financial policies and procedures.
- Own and maintain the contracts register, supporting procurement oversight, value for money assessment and supplier monitoring.
The Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a qualified or part-qualified accountant, such as ACCA or CIMA, with demonstrable experience of financial reporting to senior management and internal stakeholders.
You will bring strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills and the ability to explain financial information clearly to a diverse audience. You will be organised, proactive, adaptable and confident working independently and collaboratively across teams.
Experience of contracts management, procurement oversight or maintaining a supplier/contract register is essential. Knowledge of charity finance, governance or regulation would be desirable, as would experience with Microsoft Excel, Power BI and Microsoft Dynamics Business Central.

Catalyst Support is looking for a part-time Management Accountant to join our Finance team and play a key role in supporting the financial management of our charity services. About Catalyst Support
Through Community, Specialist and Outreach services, we support recovery, mental health and wellbeing – together every step of the way.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly management accounts and project financial reports.
- Participate in regular management accounts meetings with budget holders; conduct variance analysis against budget and forecasts and provide commentary for senior management.
- Complete reconciliation of project related balance sheet accounts including accrued and prepaid expenditure, deferred and accrued income accounts.
- Respond to internal and external finance queries in a timely and professional manner.
- Process the month-end transactions in the accounting software (Xero).
- Prepare budgets and financial forecasts in collaboration with the Head of Finance & Resources and budget holders to ensure accurate upload into the financial system.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of financial procedures and systems to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Assist with the preparation of year-end accounts and liaise with auditors as required.
- Contribute to the compliance with relevant financial regulations, internal policies, and reporting standards.
- Undertake any other duties as required by the Head of Finance and Resources tp support the effective running of the finance function.
About you
We are looking for someone who:
- Holds an Association of Accounting Technicians Certificate, or an equivalent qualification.
- Has at least two years’ experience in a management accounting role.
- Has experience working within the charity sector.
- Is confident preparing accurate, timely and informative monthly management accounts.
- Has experience working with budget holders and providing clear financial advice and guidance to non-finance colleagues.
- Can analyse budgets, forecasts and variances, and explain financial information in a clear and accessible way.
- Has strong numeracy skills and experience working with multiple projects or funding streams.
- Is confident using Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel, including advanced Excel functions such as IF formulas and Pivot Tables.
- Has experience using accounting software; experience of Xero would be desirable.
- Understands, or is willing to develop knowledge of, charity finance, Charity SORP and relevant financial regulations.
- Works well independently, within a small finance team and as part of the wider organisation.
- Is organised, proactive and able to prioritise work effectively.
