About the Finance team

The role will provide support to the Financial Controller in effective stewardship and oversight of all finance functions, with responsibility for ensuring accurate budget holder reporting, project reporting and aid in the production of management accounts.

Working with the Financial Controller and Finance Assistant, this role is essential to the reporting of financial information across the Charity. The Assistant Management Accountant will also support in the delivery of new projects and systems advancements.

About the role

The Assistant Management Accountant is a critical role within the organisation and is being recruited at an exciting time as Kidney Care UK seeks to realise its growth ambitions within its strategy.

The role will provide support to the Financial Controller in effective stewardship and oversight of all finance functions, with responsibility for ensuring accurate budget holder reporting, project reporting and aid in the production of management accounts. This role is essential to the reporting of financial information across the Charity. The Assistant Management Accountant will also support in the delivery of new projects and systems advancements.

In addition the Assistant Management Accountant will help to prepare the Charity’s quarterly VAT returns, ensuring that all transactions have the correct VAT coding. The role will be pivotal in the monthly close down process and ongoing accuracy of the transactions held on the accounting system.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and will be highly organised. The ideal candidate will be able to organise conflicting priorities around the monthly management accounts cycle. They will be flexible and adaptable in their approach to support transformational change in our processes and systems.

Core tasks and responsibilities

• Monthly accounting, budgeting, reporting and analysis:
• Produce monthly budget vs actual variance reports for budget holders.
• Prepare monthly expenditure reports for the patient grants team, reconciling the finance system to the database.
• Prepare and post the weekly income imports from information provided by Fundraising.
• Undertake regular monthly income reconciliations with the Fundraising Team, agreeing the finance system to the database.
• Aid in the month-end closing procedures and prepare the monthly reconciliations required: bank reconciliation, corporate card reconciliations, project reconciliations.
• Ensure that proper procedures are in place and followed for company credit cards, ensure that credit card expenditure is entered and reconciled through the control account and balanced each month.
• Ensure that all transactions are correctly accounted for in respect of VAT.
• Aid in training non-finance staff on ExpenseIn (our expenses management system). Support the Financial Controller in resolving ExpenseIn queries.
• Raise invoices and maintain the sales ledger.
• Covering for the Accounts Assistant on the purchase ledger when required.
• Aid in the monthly payroll process, incorporating a review of the payroll workings and allocation journal prepared by the outsourced payroll function. Ensure that the correct pension deductions are being made and accounted for correctly on the finance system.

Person specification

The Hardman Trust supports people on long prison sentences to take their next steps in life. As the Finance Manager your role is to help make this a reality through the effective management of our financial processes. You’ll use your experience from other charity finance roles, along with your accountancy / financial management qualifications, to help ensure our approach to financial management is effective, efficient, up-to-date and in line with charity accounting standards. 

You will be well-organised and motivated to support the wider team in their work. Reporting to the CEO and supporting the Treasurer, you will ensure we have up-to-date information on the financial health of the organisation. You will help to ensure we are maximising the use of restricted funding, and that money is spent in line with donors’ wishes. 

You will lead on ensuring we have robust organisational systems and processes in place for effective financial management. This includes the production and sharing of management accounts, ensuring payroll and invoices are paid on time, devising financial reports, and providing budgetary support. You’ll ensure that accurate records are maintained and that we are reporting our accounts in line with SORP guidelines. 

You will lead on the ongoing development and maintenance of our finance systems, policies and procedures, ensuring they are fit for purpose for a growing organisation.

• Provide advice and support to the Director of Finance.

Permanent Group Accountant

Salary Range £58,000 - £64,000.

The position is working for a renowned private school based in SE London.

Assistant Accountant

We have an opportunity for an Assistant Accountant to join the team managing the day-to-day accounting and financial stewardship of the Church, under the supervision of the Finance Manager.

This role offers hybrid and flexible working.

Position: Assistant Accountant

Location: Crawley/West Sussex/hybrid (hybrid working available after on boarding period)

The Role

As Assistant Accountant, you will take a lead role in every aspect of the day-today accounting and financial stewardship of the Church, working in collaboration with the staff team. Who: We are looking for an experienced, self-starting Finance Manager for the Central Foundation Schools of London, a charity supporting two state schools in London, with investments and endowments in the region of £40m.

Responsibilities: The Finance Manager will be responsible through the CEO to the Board, for day-to-day management of the charity’s accounts and all financial operations. They will manage the financial record keeping, payroll, pensions, banking and oversee the tracking of Foundation’s investments and income. This is an exciting and varied role requiring an eye for detail and engagement across all departments within the organisation. The Finance Manager is a key role, responsible for the day-to-day finances and responding to queries as they arise for the organisation. Reporting to and working closely with the Finance Director, the Finance Manager will ensure the systems and procedures in place that safeguard the Charity and its subsidiary companies (ESC Catering Ltd and Royal Court Theatre Productions Ltd) are the most effective they can be. The Finance Manager line manages the Finance Assistant ensuring the transactional detail is accurately and efficiently processed in a timely manner. Working in a fully paperless operation the Finance Manager will take the lead on several of the systems used to produce all the records in Xero. The jobholder will also be a key player in producing for example: first draft Management Accounts, Catering accounts, departmental reports and help colleagues with analysis against budgets.

Café Manager 

Full time (37 hours) 
Hornbeam Park, Harrogate, North Yorkshire 

 
The Role 

An exciting Café Manager position has opened at our Yorkshire Cancer Research Centre, which houses a fully integrated Cancer Rehabilitation Centre, Shop, Donation Centre, Office, and our first-ever Café, named Café Hornbeam. 

We are looking for an experienced Café Manager who will provide excellent customer service, prepare delicious food, and create a warm and welcoming space, inspiring their Deputy Café Manager and team of employees and volunteers to do the same. This role will be accountable for the overall management of the Café, including process and policy adherence and development, and Food Safety. 

Specifically, you will: 

• Uphold and manage café operating procedures and policies, including Food Safety, Allergens, Health and Safety and Trading Standards.

• Manage the product mix, introducing new products where appropriate and maximising profit margins.

• Identify appropriate food and drinks suppliers and build and manage supplier relationships.

• Maintain an up-to-date awareness of developments within the café/food service industry to make or recommend appropriate changes to the delivery of café services and products.

• Ensure the café is presented to the highest standards with attractive merchandising of food and drinks. 

• Effectively manage time to work alongside the team, whilst completing managerial duties.

• Plan and oversee the implementation of new menus, specials, and food and drink related offers.

• Manage the Deputy Café Manager and Café Assistants, including supporting them with their continued development, managing rotas and timesheets, providing training and providing appropriate support when needed. 

• Maximise profitability through driving sales and managing and controlling costs, stock, and margins effectively. 

• Be trained as a First Aider and Fire Marshal.

About You 

To be considered for this role, you will need: 

• Proven experience of working in a catering or hospitality role at a similar level. 

• Level 3 Food Safety & Hygiene Certification. 

• Experience in managing staff and/or volunteers including recruitment and development. 

• To be highly organised with good time management skills and the ability to prioritise your workload to meet deadlines. 

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate yourself and others. 

• Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, develop and nurture talent.

• To be resilient and adaptable to change. 

• To be willing to undertake an enhanced DBS check with children's barred list due to the requirement to supervise and train Cafe volunteers between the ages of 14 – 18 years old.
