The Pirate Castle is looking for a Treasurer. We are an iconic Camden-based community boating charity, established for 55 years. Our well-known castle building sits on the banks of the Regent's Canal. We rent out our community space and offer a range of watersports. Kayaking and canal boating are core to our work and we strive to tackle disadvantage and support our community by offering subsidised sport and recreation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fiancial analysis or accounting, ideally with a professional accountancy qualification. The role involves working with our employed General Manager and contracted Bookkeeper to monitor and oversee the charity's financies and to report to trustees. It also involves overseeing the preparation of the annual accounts, working with our retained accountancy firm.
The charity is in a sound financial position. As the Treasurer youwill also be involved in the charity's strategic manageent and governance. We are a friendly board and staff team, looking for a Treasurer with good communication skills. You can expect about five hours work per month.
This role is one of two Trustee positions on the Board providing oversight of the Trust’s finances and financial management. In addition to the general duties of trustees (more information here), the role involves:
· Monitoring the financial standing of the charity.

Specific Finance Responsibilities – in conjunction with the Chair of the Finance Committee
Scrutiny of papers produced by the Head of Finance & Operations (HoFO) and the wider Senior Management Team in the following areas:
Budgeting and strategic financial planning
- Ensure that strategic plans are financially appraised and that implementation plans are aligned with budgets.
- Provide constructive challenge to the annual and longer-term budget and forecasting processes.
- Ensure transparency and accountability in resource allocation.
Management Reporting
- Ensure that a high standard of management accounting is maintained.
- Liaise with the Chair of the Finance Committee to guide the HoFO in the preparation and production of high quality management accounts to the Board.
Statutory Financial Reporting
- Ensure the finalisation of statutory financial accounts by the HoFO in line with charity regulations and statements of recommended practice and the completion of the external audit process. Assist fellow trustees to formally approve the Trustees’ Annual Report and Annual Accounts
Reserves Policy
- Review the reserves policy.
Keep the Board informed regularly of the free reserves position and advise on strategies for coping with changing circumstances.
Governance and Financial Control
- Ensure that proper accounting records are kept, financial resources are controlled, invested and economically spent in line with governance, legal and regulatory requirements.
- Attend quarterly Finance Committee meetings and support the Chair of the Finance Committee in reporting financial matters to the Board of trustees.

We are seeking a Trustee Treasurer to help to manage our finances and investments, as well as being involved in strategic decision-making and grant giving.
The Lipman Miliband Trust is a charity whose purpose is to support socialist research and education as well as “educational activities that raise public awareness and understanding of struggles and movements for peace, human rights and a more equal, diverse co-operative and democratic society.”
The Trust was established by socialist businessman Michael Lipman in 1974 and academic Ralph Miliband until his death in 1994. We are celebrating fifty years of the Trust’s existence this year – and looking forward to the next 50!
Having benefited from a significant increase in resources in recent years we have started on an exciting new phase of our development that has meant increasing staff support and expanding our outreach, fund-raising and grant-giving activities.
We are currently a Board of ten trustees and we are now seeking a Trustee Treasurer who shares our values and our belief in the vital importance of socialist education. You will work with our Trust Coordinator as well as external advisors and accountants in helping to manage our finances and investments, and be a member of our Governance and Finance Working Group. As is the case with all charities, our finances are critical to the success of our work so experience or understanding of financial management and accounting would be very welcome. Being a Trustee is a significant commitment and responsibility, but it is also hugely rewarding. Who are Blood Pressure UK?
Blood Pressure UK is a national charity which was established in 1996. In the UK, 16 million people are estimated to have high blood pressure with one in three (5 million+ people) unaware their blood pressure is raised. Known as the Silent Killer as you can be unaware your blood pressure is raised until you experience heart attack or stroke, or it’s picked up in a random check.
For over 20 years we have been leading the light on people understanding their blood pressure numbers so if needed they can take the steps needed to reduce it. This culminates each year with Know Your Numbers Week! in September, a week-long campaign with a range of partners for people to understand their blood pressure numbers with advice and guidance of how to make vital changes to their lifestyles to change it.
Our Team
Blood Pressure UK currently have a staff team of three (two who are part-time). We contract an external accounting company to provide financial services to the charity including annual accounts, monthly management accounts, payroll, invoice creation and book keeping, making sure the charity complies with relevant governance for the charity commission and companies house.
What we are looking for…
We are looking for a qualified accountant, either working or recently retired with ideally experience of charity financial processes but not essential.
You may have a connection either personally or through family and friends with high blood pressure but it’s not a prerequisite for the role. Your experience and enthusiasm are the key factors we are looking for.

Been There is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced individual to join a small, supportive and dynamic team as a Trustee Treasurer for the board.
What will you be doing?
About Been There
Been There is a charity in the form of an app that connects people aged 18 and over with a vetted and trained mentor to help with any body image issues they may be experiencing. This gives them the opportunity to speak to someone who has ‘Been There’ themselves. Our Mentors are here to support, empower and, most importantly, listen.
About the role
Been There is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced individual to join a small, supportive and dynamic team as a Trustee and Secretary of the board. Alongside relevant experience, you will also possess an ability to work to tight deadlines, prioritising multiple tasks, and will be a natural team player with excellent written and spoken English.
Main Responsibilities
● Financial Oversight: Oversee and present budgets, accounts, and financial statements to the board in a clear and understandable manner.
● Strategic Financial Planning: Work with the board to ensure that financial strategies and decisions are fully integrated into the strategic plans of the charity.
● Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure that appropriate accounting procedures and controls are in place to safeguard the charity's assets. Monitor and manage financial risk.
● Statutory Reporting: Ensure that the charity complies with all legal and statutory financial reporting requirements.
● Audit and Financial Analysis: Lead in the appointment and liaison with auditors, and provide insightful analysis on financial reports and audits.
● Budgeting and Forecasting: Oversee the development and review of the charity's annual budget and financial forecasts.
● Fundraising Support: Play an active role in guiding and supporting the charity's fundraising efforts, ensuring financial goals are met and resources are secured for future sustainability.
What are we looking for?
Person Specification
Individuals are sought who have a strong empathy with any body image issues and related mental health concerns. Experience, skills and expertise in charity law, an interest in the well-being of people combined with an in-depth understanding of our work and ambitions are particularly sought.
Knowledge, skills and understanding:
● Experience: A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in finance, accounting, or a related field, with a strong understanding of charity finance and governance.
● Qualifications: Recognised accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) is highly desirable.
● Skills: Excellent financial and analytical skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly.
● Commitment: Ability to commit time for board meetings, committee involvement, and preparation work. Expected to attend quarterly board meetings and contribute to special projects as needed.
● Ethics: A commitment to the values and mission of Been There, with a passion for making a difference in the community.
