The AI Opportunity Fund:

The AI Opportunity Fund, led by the Centre for Public Impact with support from Google . org, is currently a  €16 million initiative aimed at empowering underserved workers across Europe with essential AI skills. The programme has selected 73 organisations from hundreds of applications to provide tailored AI training to 20,000 workers across 24 European countries. These organisations focus on diverse communities, including rural job seekers, underemployed women, and public sector workers, aiming to bridge the digital divide and promote economic resilience. The initiative underscores AI's potential to drive social mobility and equitable growth across the continent. We are also hoping to scale our work in this area in the future. 

Position Overview: 

At CPI we believe people are at the heart of our success. We are seeking a Grants Officer (Associate)   based in Europe to join our CPI Europe (CPIE) team. Your role is  critical  in ensuring the smooth delivery of the AI Opportunity Fund. This role is responsible for the effective administration of grants including ongoing due diligence and accurate record keeping, contributing to assessing proposals and organisations, stewarding and maintaining effective relationships with grantees and wider partners,  and ensuring compliance, timely reporting and payments. This role does not involve managing others.

Key Responsibilities: 

1. Grant Strategy & Development

• Contribute to shaping the strategy, design and execution of the AI Opportunity Fund.

• Support Management to ensure excellent donor stewardship of Google . org, building their confidence in CPIE as a thought and delivery partner.

• Work collaboratively with programme teams to gather necessary information, data, and insights for compelling letters of inquiry, grant applications and contract bids.

2. Grant Management & Compliance

• Oversee the implementation of awarded grants and contracts, ensuring adherence to donor guidelines, reporting requirements, and project targets and timelines.

• Actively manage programmatic risks and conduct ongoing due diligence on grantee and wider partners to ensure compliance. 

• Prepare and submit accurate and timely grant reports to key stakeholders in collaboration with finance and programme teams.

• Monitor grant budgets and expenditures, flagging any discrepancies or potential issues.

• Serve as the primary point of contact for grantees, fostering positive relationships,  triaging and addressing inquiries and supporting them to deliver effectively.

• Identify and escalate issues  in a timely manner, actively participate in proposing and implement solutions. 

3. DEIB & Collaborative Working

• Actively contribute to a diverse, equitable, inclusive, and belonging (DEIB) culture by embracing different perspectives and fostering an environment of respect.

• Support cross-team collaborative efforts to strengthen the grants administration and monitoring systems, processes and procedures.

• Share knowledge and best practices with the team, contributing to a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

4. Stakeholder Engagement & Relationship Building

• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective funders, grantees and wider partners, understanding their interests and priorities.

• Represent the organisation professionally in interactions with external partners, demonstrating our mission and impact.

• Participate in relevant networking events and workshops to stay informed about trends in funding and government innovation  and to build connections.

Salary, Benefits, and How to Apply

The salary range for this role is £40,934 - £50,759, mapped to years of experience and region. What will I be doing?

• Working with the Sports Manager, account managing and developing various high-value relationships with 3rd party event partners across the portfolio 

• Work with the sports marketing team to inform the development of the Sports Team PR and social marketing plan with particular focus on our key events

• Proposing stretching sponsorship income and recruitment targets 

• Responsible for creating and managing Sports Team web pages and social media pages and producing innovative and bespoke content that is user friendly across all devices and briefing in social priorities

• Working in collaborate with our Event Delivery Team to support the planning and delivery of "On the day experiences", working with our operation teams and 3rd party event organisers to coordinate this.

• Managing annual cycle of each event within portfolio including managing the online registration platforms, updating event pages, opening/closing events and supporting on-the-day activities at events

• Through sector networking & tracking, establishing a solid understanding of our competitors and regularly conducting analysis that can be used to benefit the Sports Team as a whole

• Develop internal relationships with multiple teams across Cancer Research UK to maximise our internal Sports Team brand

• Play a key part in our Cancer Research UK on the day team for a number of Sports events (on weekends) nationally - such as the London Marathon, the Great North Run and other mass participantion events.

The Role

You’ll be part of an ambitious and highly motivated team responsible for delivering an ambitious and growing Individual Fundraising programme. Working with other officers, you will be reporting to either the Individual Giving Lead responsible for cause related products, or for gaming products.

Helping deliver on multi million annual plans to retain and recruit new supporters using the most effective techniques and channels, including Face to Face.
• Comfortable with figures and spreadsheets and have a head for figures, as you’ll be diving into the data an managing campaign costs.
• Responsible for maintaining and reporting accurate campaign results and reviews.
• Always looking out for new opportunities, using sprint pipeline methodology (testing, solving, learning from experiments) before scaling.
• Ensuring campaigns and gaming activities are fully compliant at all times… a knowledge of Gambling Commission rules would be a bonus.

• Has great experience and knowledge of fundraising, direct marketing and project management, and can bring a real enthusiasm to the team. This role has a specific focus around supporter acquisition which includes face to face, paid digital, direct mail, telemarketing and eMarketing.

As the Executive Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the CEO’s office and the wider Executive Team. You’ll be the go-to person for diary management, governance coordination, internal communications, and helping to drive forward strategic projects. This is a hands-on, proactive role where you’ll be trusted to juggle priorities, anticipate needs, and be one step ahead.

Main responsibilities of the role include:

• CEO & Executive Support: Prioritise and coordinate the CEO’s diary and support the daily workflow of the Executive Team.

• Planning & Organisation: Develop and manage planning cycles (weekly, monthly, annual) for the Executive Office.
• Website & Content Updates: Support content management and website updates where relevant.
• Governance Support: Coordinate governance processes, maintain governance manuals, and support committee admin.
• Travel & Logistics: Organise Board and senior team travel and accommodation, including occasional international travel.
• Team Collaboration & Cover: Work closely with the wider Executive Office team and provide cover as needed.

To be considered for the role you will have the following skills, knowledge, and experience:

• Proven experience providing high-level support to senior executives, ideally within a membership organisation or non-profit
• Experience coordinating Board and Committee activity, including minute-taking and logistics
• Strong project coordination skills and confidence developing systems and processes
• Familiarity with international or healthcare-related work environments is a bonus
• High proficiency in Microsoft Teams and the full Office Suite (particularly Excel and PowerPoint)
• Experience using CMS/CRM systems and confidence with basic financial tasks (budgets, processing)
• A solid understanding of organisational governance and data protection (GDPR)

Sitting within Alzheimer’s Society’s National Influencing team, as our new National Influencing Officer (Public Affairs) you would be instrumental in delivering innovative, engaging, collaborative, and evidence-based influencing work. You’d be ensuring that political and health system stakeholders are acting on the biggest issues affecting people living with dementia, working closely with other teams to drive work that is integrated locally and nationally.

The role of Council is to lead on the GOC’s mission to protect the public by upholding high standards in eye care services.  The Council is composed of six lay members (including the Chair) and six registrant members (i.e. registered optometrists and dispensing opticians).  At least one member of the Council must work wholly or mainly in each of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.  One Council member acts as a Senior Council Member whose role is to carry out the Chair’s appraisal as well as provide a sounding board for the Chair and serve as an intermediary for Council members, Executive and stakeholders as necessary. 

The successful candidate will contribute to Council by exercising oversight, ensuring effective corporate governance, and making high-level policy decisions. They will be able to operate strategically and impartially; listen, communicate, and influence effectively; exercise judgment; and inspire confidence and support amongst our stakeholders. 

Remuneration and time commitment

Council members are remunerated in accordance with our member fees policy (£13,962 per annum plus reasonable travel and subsistence expenses).  The member fee includes time for reading and preparation.

The appointed member will be expected to commit approximately 2-3 days per month.  Meetings will usually take place via MS Teams but may on occasion be held at the GOC Offices at Level 29, One Canada Square, London, E14 5AA. There are occasional online catch-up meetings - these are currently scheduled on a Tuesday evening every 6-8 weeks, from 5.30pm – 6.30pm.

• Providing high quality services to our lawyers including identifying and recommending appropriate medical experts to clinical negligence solicitors; maintaining and developing the medical expert database. Inquest Service

• Assessing cases for eligibility for AvMA’s pro bono Inquest Service according to AvMA’s criteria.
• Preparing cases for the coroner’s court to include sorting medical records; liaising with bereaved families by phone and in writing; researching medical literature; taking and preparing initial statements; liaising with the Coroner’s officer; securing appropriate disclosure documents; instructing counsel; assisting with preparation of bundles of documents for the hearing. • Attendance at pre-inquest hearings and inquest hearings with counsel and the family. This may involve travel and overnight stays. Out-of-pocket expenses are paid. • Providing advice and assistance to the public on AvMA’s specialist helpline. Training will be given and in due course assisting the Helpline Development Officer to train helpline volunteers.
