Introduction

Herts Welcomes Refugees is at a transitional stage of its development, moving from a charity 
managed entirely by volunteers to one in which a small team of paid staff at its core facilitate and 
support the trustees to guide the work of the 170 or so volunteers. The staff team currently 
comprises a Volunteer Coordinator an IT Support Assistant and soon we will also be recruiting an 
Administrative Assistant. The Director will also work collaboratively with the (volunteer) 
Management Committee, the volunteer teams delivering services across the county and those 
volunteers providing support in key areas such as evaluation media and safeguarding.

Having come through a period of rapid development in the last four years, we now need to 
consolidate our knowledge and experience and further professionalise how we operate to ensure 
the sustainability and further development of the charity. Whilst committed to remaining a 
volunteer led charity, we need an energetic and experienced Director to support the trustees in
achieving our objectives and take the charity into the next phase of its development.

This brand-new senior role, which is being created as part of a new three-year funding programme by the
National Lottery Community Fund, is key to the next stage of our development. The postholder 
will need to be flexible in working with the Trustees, existing staff team and volunteers to help 
steer the charity through this transition. 

Main purposes of the job: 
1. To work with the trustees and volunteers in developing, supporting and facilitating the work of 
the charity and its volunteers to increase the efficiency, effectiveness, quality and consistency of 
the services provided to refugees and asylum seekers.
2. To be responsible for the day-to-day management and administration of HWR in line with the 
organisation’s policies and in compliance with all applicable law and regulation and to manage the 
staff team to increase the efficiency of the administration of the charity.
3. To support the trustees in achieving HWR’s vision, mission and charitable objects and strategic 
objectives and ensure the sustainability of the charity
 

Major duties and responsibilities:
1. Working with trustees, staff and volunteers
1.1 To manage the staff team to ensure that individual volunteers and area teams are supported 
and enabled to offer effective services across the county. This will involve regular travel across Hertfordshire.
1.2 To work with the management group to ensure its effective organisation.
1.3 To ensure that HWR's values, vision, mission are promoted and practised throughout the 
organisation. 
1.4 To establish and maintain an effective system for the recruitment, management, training, 
support and development of volunteers and staff.
1.6 To support the organisation to ensure the inclusion and voice of service users throughout the 
organisation.
1.7 To ensure that structures and systems are in place to comply with law and regulation and to 
implement the charity’s policies.
1.8 To report to the trustees on the progress of the organisation and on other matters relevant to 
the discharge of the trustees’ responsibilities. 
1.9 To formulate proposals for submission to, and approval by, the trustees. 
1.10 Working with the trustees, to ensure that the organisation discharges its constitutional and 
legal obligations and that the necessary resources are provided and proper standards maintained
for the protection of people and the organisation's assets.

2. Fundraising, Financial and Risk 
2.1 To support the trustees in relation to HWR’s income generation activities in line with the 
organisation's priorities.
2.2 Together with the trustees to consider development of other income streams, including 
corporate fundraising and legacies.
2.3 To work with the Treasurer to help develop and monitor the budget. 
2.4 To oversee HWR’s outsourced payroll administration 
2.5 To support the trustees with identifying and managing risk.

3. Knowledge and Information Management
3.1 To develop and implement robust mechanisms for the monitoring, reporting and evaluation of 
HWR’s work, and the impact and outcomes of its services.
3.2 To work with trustees and staff and volunteers to ensure the efficient operation of the charity 
through the development of IT infrastructure, and efficient and effective delivery of services and 
back-office administration. 
3.3 To work with trustees and staff and volunteers to ensure compliance with all regulation and 
good practice in relation to data confidentiality, security, safeguarding and GDPR.

4. General Tasks
4.1 Share with other staff responsibility for providing office cover, including answering the 
telephone and website enquiries, keeping records and statistics and self-servicing your own 
administration. 
4.2 Carry out such other duties and responsibilities as may reasonably be required by the trustees, 
commensurate with the objectives and level of responsibilities held by the post.

Earthwatch currently has an exciting opportunity for a Fundraising Officer to join our Income Generation team. You will provide operational support to the team, help maximise revenue and deliver impactful environmental programmes. You will research funding opportunities, write applications and support individual giving campaigns.

Responsibilities 

Research & Proposal Writing 

• Conduct research into potential trusts and foundations and corporate partners, including horizon scanning reports. 

• Update databases with funding opportunities relevant to Earthwatch’s projects. 

• Assist in writing and proofreading funding proposals and applications, alongside the Trusts and Foundations Manager and the Business Development Manager.

• Independently write smaller bids and funding requests. 

Individual Giving & Partnerships 

• Support the Individual Giving Manager with campaigns including direct debits, one-off donations, marathon fundraising, and legacies. 

• Assist the Partnership Development Manager with research and building strategic relationships with local authorities and project sites. 

CRM & Administration 

• Maintain and update contact records in our CRM system (Microsoft Dynamics 365). 

• Respond to emails in the Fundraising and Development inboxes. 

• Monitor and report on team progress against objectives and KPIs. 

• Provide general administrative support to the Income Generation team. 

Collaboration & Communication

The Engagement team plays a critical and visible role in the organisation. We lead strategic projects, put engagement into the heart of our campaigns and offer expert advice and analysis to teams across the organisation. We are a high-performing and friendly team that strives to experiment with new ideas and support each other in the process.

This role will work alongside other Marketing Officers who will provide peer support and report into the Marketing & Engagement Manager whom you will work closely with, while also supporting the work and objectives of the wider team. Part Time Charities Assistant  

• (FTE £30,429 p/a – pro rata £12,171.60 p/a)

We are looking for a proactive and highly organised administrator, ideally with experience in a Charity or Professional body to join us as our Charities Assistant in a permanent position working 2 days a week, supporting a worthwhile charitable cause.

The successful candidate will provide administrative support, help coordinate committee and trustee meetings, and act as a first point of contact for external queries. This is a varied role, so we’re looking for someone with a proactive approach who enjoys building relationships with a range of stakeholders and has great attention to detail. Candidates who have experience working with committees, preparing minutes and using Canva, would be preferable.

What responsibilities does this role have?

This role will be varied, and duties will change depending on current meetings and project needs, but the responsibilities include:

•  Liaise with beneficiaries and applicants for support to assist with the application process, including details of outcomes and support provided.
• Lead on drafting case reports on beneficiaries’ circumstances for consideration of the Support and Grants Committee or the Chairman of the Support and Grants Committee.
• Assist with the organisation, planning and attendance for Trustee and Support and Grants Committee meetings, including papers and taking minutes, (currently around 6 per annum).
• Maintain and manage the Trust’s database to ensure accurate, secure, and efficient storage of beneficiary and application records.
• Maintenance of the Trust’s web pages to ensure relevant information is available.
• Development and management of social media presence.
• Assist with finance administration tasks, including expense claims and preparation of memos and invoices for payments.
• Management of donation recognition and reconciliation, including assisting with Gift Aid records and claims, and support with reporting requirements of investment valuations.

We are recruiting for Community Fundraising Lead to provide support and guidance to individuals and small groups of existing volunteers across a range of geographical areas, many of whom have been on a journey with the charity for decades, recognising their values whilst ensuring the updated mission of the charity is respected and communicated effectively. Working with both the Marketing and Income Generation teams, there will be opportunities to collaborate on projects and develop leads for support to maximise on fundraising activities and donor retention.

About You

Reporting to the Head of Fundraising, the postholder will be responsible for building on our existing community fundraising initiatives, which includes networks of loyal volunteers and church contacts – from international pilgrim participants completing fundraising treks to congregations organising bake sales. About the Role

As Young People Support Worker you will work as part of a team delivering an assessment, support and move on service to vulnerable clients in supported accommodation. You will have a caseload of 5 clients aged 18-25, in a supported accommodation in Twickenham.

You will mostly lone work, with the Service Manager and Senior Progression Coach working from the office once a week each on average.

You may be required to work from our offices with the rest of the team in Lambeth/Croydon once a month as the business need arises or for training.

Key responsibilities:

· Ensure the safety and wellbeing of clients at all times, following safeguarding and emergency procedures as required.

· Hold a caseload as key worker, taking joint responsibility with the team for day-to-day client support.

· Work in partnership with external agencies and involve clients in decision-making and community activities.

About the Service

As part of an innovative pilot project, funded by the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime, Solace will be providing two specialist workers to support victim/survivors engaged in the perpetrator behaviour change programme as part of a conditional caution. The programme aims to address perpetrators behaviour and increase safety for victim/survivors. In doing so, it is essential that the V/S has holistic support to ensure any risks are identified and managed.

This is a pilot project and it is expected that there will be a considerable amount of testing and learning, trailing new ways of working to meet intended outcomes.

About the Role

You will be working closely in partnership with Police forces in North London, as well as the Hampton Trust, to provide support for victim/survivors engaged in the CARA programme. You will also be supporting Police Officers to discuss eligibility for the programme and conditional cautions. You will be developing and delivering a series of training and learning sessions for the Police. As a new project, you will be developing key partnership relations, to strengthen collaborative working between the Police and Solace. You will provide light touch support to survivors whose partners are engaged with the CARA program, assess risk and share key updates with Hampton Trust and the Police to ensure safety.

About You

We're looking for highly organised and self-motivated applicants who are passionate about ending VAWG. You will have a “can-do‟ approach and demonstrable commitment to Solace’s feminist approach to supporting women and their children to be safer. You will receive training and support for this role as necessary.

Successful applicants will have in-depth knowledge of domestic abuse and its impact on women and children, experience of dynamic risk assessment and providing emotional and practical support to victims of VAWG.  As this is a pilot programme where the delivery model may change, a flexible and adaptive approach to your work is important as well as willingness to contribute to programme evaluation. Part of your time will be spent ensuring that Police colleagues have the information they need to effectively administer conditional cautions so you will work closely with Police, Hampton Trust to develop different training elements, a willingness to develop and deliver this material is essential.

A relevant qualification in VAWG is essential, as well as willingness to undergo Police vetting.

You will play a vital role in the planning and organising of LLST’s flagship London Legal Walk, bringing together over 19,000 members of the legal community to walk 10km through central London and raise vital funds for over 100 free legal advice charities.

The role involves coordinating event logistics, managing supporter journeys and communications, maintaining our online presence, spreading the word about the importance of the work we do, and helping to develop our fundraising strategy. You’ll also line manage the Events & Fundraising Assistant and play a key role in maintaining LLST’s excellent reputation.
