We are looking for an innovative Digital Content Manager to lead our content strategy and ensure supporters and people who use our services find exactly what they need. More about the role

As our Digital Content Manager, you will be at the forefront of designing, editing, and publishing a diverse range of content formats in collaboration with subject matter experts across the charity. A significant part of your role involves line managing and inspiring a dedicated content team, guiding them to produce high-quality work, while also assisting with the creation of our print supporter magazine. You will analyse user journeys and performance metrics to identify new content opportunities, optimize existing pages, and maintain exceptional editorial standards across the board. Ultimately, you and your team will be developing pet advice, campaign content, and stories that not only increase engagement but actively drive donations to support our vital cause. 

About you

You are a user-focused champion of great content with an extensive background in writing for the web and a deep understanding of content design, user research, and testing methods. We are looking for someone who is completely at home using content management systems for major consumer-facing websites and has a proven track record of using analytical tools to monitor user behavior and implement data-driven changes. Beyond your technical skills, you are a natural collaborator and diplomat with exceptional communication skills, allowing you to build fantastic working relationships across various departments. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, remaining calm under pressure while managing multiple projects and tight deadlines. We are looking for an experienced professional with a blend of communications and media experience who can push forward a union-led strategic communications agenda, and who can also enhance the ITF’s position in the media as the global voice of transport workers. This hands-on role will span communications and media work across the ITF.

You will be part of a team delivering solidarity and support to local, national and global disputes, building communications that reinforce the critical role of transport workers around the world, developing strategies to support union-led policies on everything from health and safety to sustainability, and raising the volume on the global struggle to advance the rights of transport workers everywhere.

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, this role will work collaboratively to implement communications strategies for the ITF’s industrial work programmes and their priority campaigns. The Communications and Press Officer will lead on the implementation of the ITF’s global media strategy: the role is pivotal to securing media coverage that raises awareness of the work and priorities of the ITF internationally, across broadcast, print, online media and trade press, while also monitoring the media coverage we gain, evaluating impact and providing insights to help shape future media work.

The role will also be central to developing communications content across the ITF’s industrial sections, from website news stories to in-depth reports and communications support for ITF conferences, meetings and other events: you will need to be able to develop expert knowledge of policy and industrial issues facing transport workers, and effectively interpret and analyse issues and challenges and translate them into compelling and engaging communications outputs.

Role Purpose

The Communications Officer, Europe serves as a senior strategic leader of external communications engagement for Open Society’s priorities across Europe, with a mandate that extends globally as needed.

Key responsibilities

Through integrated media engagement, digital strategy, social media platforms, publications, executive communications and internal communications, the department partners with  dozens of Open Society Foundations and programs to drive coherence, clarity, and influence across the global network.

Reporting to Associate Director of Communications, Europe and working in close partnership with Program and Advocacy leadership, this role will:  

• Develop and execute high-impact, regionally grounded  communications strategies aligned with institutional priorities.

• Shape compelling organizational narratives and positioning on issues central to Open Society’s mission;

• Lead proactive risk assessment and reputational strategy, anticipating communications and media risks across the region and develops and executes mitigation strategies; serves as the lead during crisis situations, ensuring values-aligned response management.

• Shape and drive strategic communications opportunities aligned with institutional priorities—leveraging both real-time news cycles and long-term advocacy opportunities to advance Open Society values, influence public discourse and shape policy relevant narratives.

The Content Officer supports this work by producing accurate and engaging content that strengthens our story telling and supports our priorities. It contributes to the success of major campaigns. The role helps create a range of written, visual and multimedia materials that explain complex topics — including research, policy, partnerships and fundraising activity — in a compelling and accessible way.

Working collaboratively with colleagues across Policy, Corporate Partnerships, Brand, Strategic Marketing, Social Media, Digital and in the Communications team, the Content Officer ensures that content is aligned, consistent and impactful. The postholder also contributes to the smooth delivery of content production and publication processes, helping to maintain high standards and a coherent organisational narrative.

Key Responsibilities:

Delivery and production

· Develop high‑quality content across formats (e.g., explainers, briefings, blogs, supporter materials, video and digital assets) to support research, impact, policy and partnership storytelling.

· Produce accurate, engaging content for corporate and philanthropic partnerships, including supporter‑facing materials and impact stories.

· Contribute to major brand and campaign moments (e.g., World Alzheimer’s Month) through ideas, drafting and coordinated delivery.

· Develop multimedia assets — including infographics, short videos and visual explainers — by drafting briefs and supporting supplier liaison.

About the role 

As External Affairs Specialist, you will play a central role in two of our most important priorities: strengthening our parliamentary engagement and delivering clear, timely and high-quality communication with our members. 

You will ensure members feel informed, heard and represented, while helping to build our presence and influence in Parliament. A core part of the role involves translating what our members experience on the ground into clear, persuasive messages that resonate with policymakers and parliamentarians. 

This role suits someone who enjoys joining the dots, spots opportunities quickly and wants to continue building a career in public affairs, parliamentary engagement and communications within a respected, mission driven organisation. 

What you will do 

Parliamentary engagement 

• Lead day to day parliamentary monitoring and identify opportunities to influence debates, questions and policy development 

• Draft high quality briefings, parliamentary questions and stakeholder communications 

• Build and maintain relationships with MPs, Peers and parliamentary staff 

• Support delivery of our parliamentary engagement activity, including events and party conferences 

Member communication 

• Draft clear, timely and engaging communications for members, including briefings, updates and campaigns 

• Work directly with members to capture insights, case studies and evidence 

• Ensure member voice sits at the centre of our external messaging 

• Translate complex policy and political developments into practical, accessible information for members 

Wider external affairs 

• Monitor media coverage and support proactive and reactive media activity 

• Contribute to social media and wider communications output 

• Support campaigns, publications, events and stakeholder engagement 

• Support team coordination, reporting and continuous improvement 

About you 

You are bright, motivated and organised, with a strong interest in politics, policy and communications. You enjoy writing, relationship-building and working at pace. You take initiative, think critically and care about delivering high-quality work. 

You will bring: 

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to tailor messages to different audiences 

• Experience in public affairs, media, communications or campaigning, or a closely related field 

• An understanding of UK parliamentary processes and political engagement 

• Confidence using social media to inform, engage and influence 

• Strong planning skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities

The Communications function tells people who Liberty is, what we do and how they can get involved – helping to shape the narrative of the media debate and influence decision makers. This role requires proven experience of designing and executing high-quality, high-impact media and digital communications plans that reach, engage and persuade target audiences.

Liberty is a small organisation which punches above its weight. The Media and Communications Officers will use their media experience to support the running of our busy press office by being the first point of contact for journalists, drafting responses to media requests, and supporting our spokespeople with interview briefings. They will also help build our profile in the media by forging relationships with key contacts across broadcast, print and new forms of digital media.

Telling an inclusive story about the importance of our rights and freedoms to everyday lives is central to who we are and what we do. The Media and Communications Officers will deliver engaging outputs across social media and our website, adapting core messages across different platforms. They will help bring technical legal and policy arguments to life through creative storytelling that resonates with the public.
