Job Description

As a senior member of the Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity (BWHC) Fundraising & Marketing team, your main objective is to lead the development and management of our community fundraising programme to maximise income to meet annual targets.

You will play a vital role in stewarding effective relationships to maximise support from our existing supporters and crucially, for driving new donor acquisition to ensure the sustainability of our work.  Developing our community fundraising programme is essential to our income base and profile. Central to our work is supporting our volunteer fundraisers, driving participant numbers for challenge events, recruiting and engaging volunteers to help raise awareness of the impact of our hospitals across Bristol and Weston. Crucially, delivering on our 2025-2030 strategy alongside the rest of the Fundraising and Marketing team will be a key part of your role.

Supported by the Head Public Fundraising, you will develop strategic and operational plans and budgets for your operational area to meet growth targets and you will ensure to focus on the objective of focusing on current and lapsed supporters.

This is a dynamic and varied role where you will work closely with colleagues across fundraising, marketing and hospital teams to deliver our 2025–2030 strategy and bring our community closer to the charity’s mission.

Key Accountabilities

Community & Events Fundraising

• To maximise fundraising income by managing and delivering overall recruitment and stewardship of fundraising groups, individual supporters (including in memory fundraisers and funeral collections), ambassadors and volunteers
• To develop and manage the team, empowering them to deliver the BWHC ‘In Aid of’ strategic plan, focussing on expanding the network of supporters who fundraise for and are happy to represent BWHC externally
• To develop, manage and deliver the BWHC Community Group plan, focusing on acquisition of new supporters and development of our retention plan
• To raise income and profile through the development, management, promotion of a portfolio of events (BWHC events, third party events and In Aid of events), ensuring maximum participation
• To develop and manage the team to deliver stewardship of in memory fundraisers and income from funeral collection
• To work with the Hospital Partnership Manager to develop a strategic approach to increase levels of hospital staff fundraising
• To manage and develop BWHC’s trading offer, including overall management of the physical Fundraising Hub and development of online shop
• To ensure exceptional, personalised but proportionate donor stewardship including continued development of product led stewardship e.g. in celebration
• To oversee the recruitment, training, stewardship and management of volunteers to provide support across the charity
• To work with the Brand & Marketing Team to create and deliver a media programme to maximise participation in BWHC activity
• Supported by the Head of Public Fundraising, to work with the IG & Legacy Manager and Supporter Experience, Data & Insight Team in particular to define, develop and deliver cross-portfolio supporter journeys and consistent supporter care.
   

Leadership & Management

• To provide strong leadership and management to the Community Partnerships & Events Fundraising Officer, Community Partnerships & Event Assistant and Volunteer Officer to ensure they are encouraged and motivated to perform at their best, fulfil their role and achieve agreed targets/KPI’s.

Strategy and Planning

• Contribute to the development and review of Fundraising & Marketing strategy.  
• Accountability for Community Fundraising plan and maximising long-term growth in this area
• Develop, implement and monitor annual operational plans, budgets and income forecasting, and ensure internal reporting is completed
• Ongoing evaluation of activity to ensure maximised return on investment
•  Keep up to date with relevant legislation and developments which affect the charity
• To contribute to the overall work and reporting of the fundraising and communications team through excellent team-work and cross-team working

CAFOD is seeking a Senior Advocacy Adviser to lead its Global Advocacy Programme on Food Systems, championing agroecology and pushing for food systems that prioritise people, communities and the environment. This role works closely with global partners to influence policy at national, regional and international levels, ensuring that partner, women’s, Church and social movement voices are central to decision‑making.

You will drive CAFOD’s policy and advocacy work on food systems, build coalitions, represent CAFOD in global and UK policy spaces, and influence governments and multilateral institutions. The role sits within the Advocacy team and works collaboratively across Advocacy, Communications and International Programmes.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading CAFOD’s global food systems advocacy strategy
• Working in partnership with organisations in the global South to develop evidence‑based policy positions
• Influencing UK, regional and global policy debates on agriculture and food systems
• Representing CAFOD in international forums and networks
• Ensuring advocacy is grounded in strong analysis, partner experience and a commitment to social and environmental justice

CAFOD is seeking an Evidence and Learning Advisor to support International Programmes (IP) during a period of maternity cover. The role plays a key part in embedding evidence and learning within CAFOD’s Integral Ecology Programme Model (IEPM), which underpins delivery of our strategic framework, Our Common Home.

Working within the Programme Quality Support Team and reporting to the Programme Quality Lead, the postholder will cultivate a strong culture of evidence-based reflection and adaptation across programmes. The role involves primarily distance-based working, with some potential for international travel.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate core learning processes, including programme deep dives and the Annual Review and Adaptation (ARA).
• Lead the update of International Programmes’ Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) approach, ensuring alignment with the IEPM and reporting needs.
• Provide technical MEL advice and capacity support to programme teams and partners, including contributions to reviews, evaluations and institutional fundraising work.

Person Specification

• Proven experience in evidencing and learning within development and humanitarian programmes, particularly partnership-based models.
• Experience working across multiple themes and regions, with an ability to communicate complex learning clearly.

• Experience supporting institutional fundraising processes and synthesising learning for varied audiences.

MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Reporting to the Apprenticeship Manager you will be responsible for:

• Acting as the first point of contact for apprenticeship queries, training providers and internal stakeholders
• Helping promote apprenticeship opportunities internally and supporting recruitment and upskilling initiatives across the Harris Federation
• Providing support to manage the Harris Federation apprenticeship levy, tracking costs, progress and compliance with funding requirements
• Organising and promoting Apprenticeship events and information sessions across the Federation and academy sites, supporting senior leaders in promoting apprenticeships and recruiting future apprentices
• Supporting internal and external marketing for apprenticeship activities as part of wider employer branding and promoting engagement events to increase awareness and understanding of apprenticeships
• Facilitating an apprenticeship network and supporting development opportunities such as award nominations
• Maintaining and advising on safeguarding compliance, including neuro-inclusion, in alignment with the Ofsted framework, especially for under-18 apprentices

• The ability to establish a new role in the Harris Federation and work collaboratively with key stakeholders to deliver successful apprenticeship programmes
• Strong project management skills with experience of complex projects with multiple stakeholders

• The ability to travel to Federation academies in and around London and Essex as required
• Experience of managing a Learning Management System within the FE sector and working with the third-party service provider to ensure the platforms are user friendly and up to date

Job Outline:

What the job involves

Our Events and Community Fundraising team raises vital funds for Prostate Cancer UK through a wide range of activities, events and challenge events. As Community Fundraising Executive, you’ll be a key member of our sector-leading team, raising over £5 million each year from individuals organising their own fundraising events and local-level corporate partnerships.

You’ll build strong, meaningful relationships with mid and high-value supporters, providing tailored stewardship that motivates, inspires and maximises their long-term fundraising impact. Working closely with the Community Fundraising Manager and wider team, you’ll identify emerging opportunities, spot potential high-value fundraisers and help shape the growth of our community fundraising programme. How and where we work

Colleagues attend the office at least four days per month (pro rata for part-time colleagues) to collaborate, build relationships, and support projects and decision-making. You can choose where to work the rest of the time. Travel to the office is a commute, so we pay our own travel costs.

Additional in-person attendance will be required during your first few months for induction and training, to support you to learn the role and get to know colleagues.

Job Profile
Our Supporter Fundraising team is looking for two dedicated and supporter-focused individuals to become Support Officers. Your job will be to provide administrative support to fundraising colleagues, with a specific focus on enabling, stewarding and thanking supporters who choose to fundraise for us, donate in memory of a loved one, enquire about a legacy or purchase a virtual gift.

We are looking for someone who can bring efficiency and care to our fundraising work. You will have strong attention to detail and be an excellent manager of your own time as you complete tasks for specific projects and colleagues.

This is a varied role, including the creation of email journeys and stewardship communications, assistance with events, co-ordinating mailings and resource production, updating the website and other digital platforms, and ensuring the timely payment of invoices. You will ensure that donor records and database actions are completed accurately and in a timely manner, and fulfil all resource requests quickly and efficiently. You’ll regularly liaise with internal and external stakeholders to complete these tasks.

Key Responsibilities

Supporter Communications (Events & In-Memory Giving)

• Act as a secondary point of contact for supporters, including challenge event fundraisers and in-memory donors – being a supportive, sensitive and encouraging ear and delivering the best possible standards of supporter care.
• Fulfil resource requests (including fundraising packs, Gifts in Wills packs and other materials) in a timely manner and provide any necessary additional support to ensure effective use.
• Produce tailored thank you letters and cards to supporters about their financial gifts and other support.
• Support volunteers with resource ordering and usage.
• Work across CAFOD teams to help deliver excellent supporter retention and stewardship.

Fundraising Promotions and Appeals

• Work closely with the other Fundraising Support Officer and consult with team leaders to identify pressure points for capacity, creating plans to support work reactively across fundraising teams at key moments.
• Provide administrative support for donation platforms including the World Gifts online shop, liaising with Digital and IT teams to set up and test backend processes.
• Contribute to digital fundraising by improving and updating relevant web pages.
• Support the delivery of multi-donor segment direct mailings, parish mailings and emails for specific and emergency appeals.

This new role is to support the growth of Marine Society apprenticeship and adult skills provision. You will act as a trusted partner to clients and a point of guidance for junior colleagues. 

You will lead on our nfpPolitics programmes – quarterly surveys of 100 MPs and an annual survey of 100 members of the House of Lords, plus annual surveys of MSPs in Scotland, MSs in Wales and MLAs in Northern Ireland. These programmes give charity clients clear, evidence-based insight into how they are seen at Westminster and in the devolved parliaments: tracking awareness of organisations and their campaigns, the actions parliamentarians have taken in response, and how effective they consider those organisations to be. Subscribers also receive unfiltered open comments from parliamentarians and access to broader political intelligence data – covering what MPs see as the biggest challenges facing the sector, the factors that influence whether they will support a campaign, and which organisations have impressed them in Parliament. 

You will also oversee nfpPress, our annual survey of 150 UK journalists across print, digital and broadcast media. This gives charity communications teams systematic insight into how the media perceives them and their work – not just whether journalists know who they are, but whether they want to work with them, and what would make them more likely to. 

Alongside this tracking work, you will contribute to a varied portfolio of bespoke projects for individual charity clients – from applicant perception research for funders, to supporter benchmarking and message testing. In practice, this means working across a wide range of topics and methodologies, helping charities make better strategic decisions. 

Description of responsibilities and opportunities: 

· Leading our nfpPolitics Westminster programme: quarterly surveys of 100 MPs and an annual survey of 100 members of the House of Lords, including questionnaire design, fieldwork management, analysis and client debriefs 

· Leading our nfpPolitics Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland programmes: annual surveys of MSPs, Members of the Senedd and MLAs 

· Overseeing nfpPress: our annual survey of 150 UK journalists across print, digital and broadcast media 

· Managing a portfolio of client accounts across the Professional Audiences monitors – advising clients on their results, responding to requests for analysis, and supporting retention 

· Contributing to the design and delivery of bespoke projects for a wide range of charity clients, spanning applicant perception research, supporter benchmarking, message testing and audience insight work 

· Writing and presenting client reports and debrief presentations, with clear conclusions and actionable recommendations 

· Line management of a Research Officer or Research Assistant: writing objectives, conducting appraisals and supporting their professional development 

· Contributing to business development, including helping to scope and write proposals and participating in pitch meetings 

· Contributing to the broader life of the company, including our monthly Knowledge Meeting, company blog and Insights events 

Who we are looking for:  

This post would be ideally suited to a researcher with at least three years’ experience in a market research or social research role, with a strong interest in the non-profit sector and the professional audiences it works with – whether parliamentarians, journalists, funders or specialist communities. 

Essential: 

· Minimum three years’ previous professional research experience, ideally in market research, social research or a consultancy setting 

· Experience of managing research projects or programmes with a high degree of independence 

· Experience of managing clients or other external relationships 

· Experience of presenting in a professional context 

· Strong quantitative research skills, including excellent data literacy, survey design and data visualisation 

· Analytical skills and ability to interpret research, and explain what it means for a range of different audiences – both verbally and in writing 

· A strong interest in politics, media or public affairs, and an understanding of how non-profits engage with these arenas 

· A strong interest in, and preferably experience of, charities and not-for-profits 

Desirable: 

· Experience of research with specialist or professional audiences (such as parliamentarians, journalists, healthcare professionals or funders) 

· Experience of conducting qualitative research (interviews, focus groups or similar) 

· Keen interest or experience of the not-for-profit sector in one of our international markets (Ireland, Canada or the US) 

· Experience of line managing or mentoring more junior colleagues 

· Experience of using R, SPSS or Displayr
