About this job

As the social media officer, you’ll help manage an audience of more than 200,000 people across X, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn and YouTube. You’ll respond to comments and messages from the public, engage with our audiences and work with our MS Helpline team to ensure vulnerable supporters get the help they need.

You’ll have a genuine passion for creating engaging social content and a keen interest in the latest trends and social media platform developments.

Working closely with our Social and Paid Media Manager, you will help to scope for and identify new opportunities to grow our online community developing engaging content across news, media, support, information and our core campaigns.

Planning and strong copy-writing skills are essential and you will thrive in a fast-paced, innovative environment. You’ll also help maintain regular reports on KPIs and performance.

And lastly, you’ll be joining our friendly and supportive team at an exciting stage of our development, as we continue to use digital to help improve the lives of people living with MS.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience

• Significant experience of working closely with high-profile individuals and talent managers to deliver meaningful engagement. 
• Previous experience of successfully creating and executing a strategy for enhancing a brand through engaging celebrities and high-profile individuals 
• Experience of utilising audience insight and landscape awareness to identify suitable celebrities/influencers to enhance our brand development. 
• Experience of working within the not-for-profit sector 
• A collaborative, creative style with excellent written and verbal communication skills

 About the Role 

• Lead the implementation of a celebrity strategy and engagement plan to establish, cultivate, and maintain strong relationships with high profile individuals
• Work with the Brand & Communications and Fundraising teams to proactively identify and grow relationships with talent that broadens our reach as a charity 
• Develop creative concepts which can be used to engage celebrities and amplify their involvement across multiple channels and platforms. Draft briefing notes for celebrities, quotes and press releases about their activity.

Purpose of the role

To maximise ENN’s impact, functioning and profile through the use of improved communication and digital strategy, accessibility, culture and practice. 

 Key responsibilities

 Communications Strategy

• Lead the development and socialisation of an effective organisational communications strategy and implementation plan
• Analyse and brief ENN team and trustees on evolving Communications and Digital environment.
• Build a Communications and Digital culture through training and mentoring colleagues in the improved use of communications and digital tools and the establishment of organisational norms and ways of working.
• Curation of aligned branding, internal and external communication across all ENN’s workstreams, in line with ENN values and strategic objectives.
• Focal point for all ENN marketing, communications and digital issues
• Understand, segment and expand ENN’s current audience and networks and, in collaboration with others, increase visibility, presence and engagement with ENN’s network and audience
• Develop ENN’s Communications and Digital policies and risk management.
• Work with teams, collaborators and suppliers to embed clear processes, ways of working and guidance to deliver ENN’s communications strategy.

Management and Delivery

• Set up and maintain a communications plan and reporting framework to help drive a coordinated approach to communication across ENN’s portfolio
• Lead work with relevant teams and ENN’s partners to create and deliver digital communications, media and campaign programmes
• Maximise opportunities to drive brand awareness, raise the profile of ENN and engage with press and media where relevant

 Operations and Delivery

Training:

• Oversee ENN and partner awareness, knowledge and understanding of the evolving context and best practices in communications, digital and marketing including use of appropriate media levers
• Develop and implement training programmes and pilots for internal colleagues on the use of all communications media around standards, best practices and house styles, including use of social media

​Platform management:

• Manage and develop ENN social media platforms for optimal visibility, engagement and impact, working with donors and collaborators to proactively engage their platforms and networks towards mutually beneficial ends
• Oversee the management and development of ENN’s website including a new CMS and Forum platform
• Review and deliver performance indicators across all relevant platforms to ensure SEO and high user engagement is measured

Content:

• Work with copy editors, proof-readers, designers, podcast and video producers, developers and external agencies to create new, or update existing digital and publications content
• As a member of the FEX editorial team, provide specific and tailored input and support to ENN’s flagship publication Field Exchange (FEX) on style, brand, design and presentation of print and on-line content.
• Develop and apply guidance to ensure content is engaging and consistent with brand, house styles and tone
• Oversee and approve ENN’s social media content
• Develop and manage a bank of content including stories and images for use in ENN’s publications, products, monitoring and evaluation work and media usage.
• Coordinate publication of all marketing and publicity materials to ensure optimised impact

Analytics and reporting:

• Actively use omnichannel and multichannel reporting, analysis and insight to help develop and optimise campaigns, incorporating other monitoring & evaluation outputs where relevant.
• Digital tools - Identify existing and emerging digital metric tools that track and capture the full impact of our online engagement to reveal where and to what extent our work is making a difference

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience

 Essential requirements

• Relevant tertiary qualification or experience preferably in media, journalism, science health or humanitarian communications, digital production, marketing or public relations
• Demonstrable experience of creating and implementing successful communication and digital strategies
• Demonstrable experience of planning, creating and publishing engaging content across digital channels
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to adapt technical and scientific information for a range of audiences
• Experience in website project management and implementation
• Excellent team-working skills and ability to work collaboratively and autonomously
• Proficient in SEO, Google Analytics, content marketing and digital marketing strategies
• Experience in web content writing and management, web design and database management
• Experience in managing external communications providers including proof-readers, copy-editors, creatives / designers, translators, podcast and video producers, print publishers and web designers
• Excellent personal and professional integrity, strong cross-cultural awareness, demonstrable commitment to diversity, equality and inclusion.
• Fluency in English (written and oral)

Desirable

• Experience designing and delivering training in communications, marketing and digital media to colleagues
• Copy-editing / proofreading experience
• Understanding of GDPR regulations relevant to communications and marketing and ability to implement

 Terms and Conditions

Type of contract: Permanent

• Location: Office-based, with the opportunity to work from home 1 – 2 days a week. ENN’s office is in Kidlington, Oxfordshire.
• Holidays: 25 days plus UK Public Holidays, increasing by one day per annum after two complete years of service to a maximum of 27 days per annum. Pro-rata for part-time staff.
• Pension: Auto-Enrolment to ENN scheme with a generous Employer contribution of 5%
• Salary: £39,000 per annum, full-time equivalent, dependent on experience and suitability for the role

The Individual Giving Manager will be responsible for reaching new supporters, developing and implementing engaging and innovative marketing activities that attract a range of new donors for the charity. They will use a variety of channels including digital, face-to-face and DRTV, and work with teams across the charity to ensure the impact of all activity is maximised.
 
Key responsibilities include:

• Working with the Head of Individual Giving and Legacies create and review plans to deliver strategies within agreed income and cost thresholds, generating sustainable year on year growth.
• Working with the finance business partner prepare financial business cases to drive the development of the supporter acquisition strategy. Make the case for new fundraising methods with clear understanding of ROI, supporter acquisition cost, and channel payback models.
• Monitor performance against budget: ensure financial targets are met, monitor any shortfalls, and take remedial action as necessary.
• Experience of Individual Giving and acquisition programmes.
• Manage agency and supplier relationships - including with creative agencies, list brokers, media buyers, fulfilment houses and external professional fundraising organisations - to deliver agreed plans and campaigns.

The Community Fundraising Manager will be an integral part of a dynamic and unstoppable fundraising department.

Duties and key responsibilities

Community fundraising

• Manage and develop regional fundraising by devising a regional community fundraising strategy for income generation.
• Design and develop Sarcoma UK's calendar of annual community fundraising campaigns and events communication, including Cuppa and Cake.
• Introduce fundraising opportunities to our existing and potential supporters through a multi-channelled marketing strategy to grow levels of engagement and participation.
• Identify opportunities and recruit new community fundraisers, fundraising groups, corporate and school partners.
• Work with the Fundraising team to produce regular feedback reports and analysis on specific community products and overall revenue.
• Lead on promotion of community fundraising through digital marketing, PR, speaking engagements and on the ground fundraising.

Management

• Provide line management and day-to-day support to the Regional Fundraising Officer North, building their fundraising knowledge.
• Develop, manage, and monitor budgets for your areas of responsibility.

Income Generation

• Implement agreed KPIs, objectives and budget for the Regional Fundraising Team to drive support and engagement.
• Identify fundraising products, key accounts, and projects that will support income growth both locally and nationally.
• Responsible for monitoring and managing all income streams across all community fundraising lines including Gift Aid and working closely with the Operations Team.

Processes, administration, and reporting

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date supporter records on Sarcoma UK’s database (Raiser’s Edge).
• Ensure all recording, and stewardship processes are up to date and working across the fundraising team, wider charity and in accordance with current laws and regulations.
• Ensure necessary Community Fundraising policies are up to date.
• Follow Sarcoma UK’s processes and procedures including risk assessments to ensure a consistent approach and maintain a high level of support expected by our donors and fundraisers.
• Ensure that all activities are compliant with legislation governing fundraising including GDPR, health and safety, Institute of Fundraising, and the Fundraising Regulator Code of Conduct.

Wider fundraising

• Support company and corporate partnerships that utilise community and trade fundraising.
• Support third party fundraising and challenge event portfolio.
• Work with the Events Manager to develop merchandise and trade income opportunities.
• Support with managing merchandise supplier relationships and internal and external stock levels.

General

• The role requires some travel to events and meetings throughout the UK. Some weekend or evening work will also be required and time off in lieu will be given. Travel expenses will be reimbursed (exc. Travel to the Sarcoma UK office).
• Stay up to date with the latest knowledge in fundraising and ensure Sarcoma UK’s processes and procedures follow best practice.

About the role

Are you an experienced corporate fundraiser with an interest in working in the international development sector? Are you creative, strategic, highly organised, a confident and effective communicator and strong team player? 

We are looking for an experienced Senior Corporate Fundraising Manager to work closely with the Head of Programme Funding to drive new donor engagement and secure sustainable, multi-year funding. If you are seeking a dynamic and engaging fundraising role which offers you the chance to play a pivotal role within a small but ambitious organisation, then this could be the job for you.

You will be an exemplary relationship builder and have experience in developing multi-faceted corporate partnerships (ideally with experience and success in employee engagement, corporate sponsorship, and/or operational partnerships).

The role also line manages the Senior Fundraising Officer post, a position that provides administrative and fundraising support across the whole fundraising team.  Please note that we are a small team and so you’ll need to be comfortable rolling up your sleeves to help out team members and to support new business across other restricted income streams.
