About the role:
On the back of continued growth due to successful fundraising performance over the last 5 years, we are ready to take the next step in our fundraising strategy and launch a Philanthropy Giving programme. You will bring expertise and skills in this field to support the fundraising team and build on the already strong stewardship and engagement we have with key individuals.
An experienced fundraiser or business development professional, you will relish the opportunity to own and launch the strategy and implement a long-term engagement plan to strengthen High Value relationships that will deliver a new and sustainable income stream.
The role is new and on an initial fixed term contract of 12 months but with the potential to make the role permanent if the strategy succeeds.

About you:
You're likely to be a seasoned philanthropy professional, ideally with a track record securing gifts.
You will be comfortable in working closely with a Senior Leadership team and Board.
With an understanding of philanthropy and what makes major donors tick, you will also have the appetite and aptitude to develop new relationships from scratch.
The role will be a good mix of stewarding existing relationships and building brand-new ones. Therefore, you will need to be comfortable and confident researching and developing new contacts, harnessing the potential of existing networks and working closely with the wider organisation.
A key part to the role will be to deliver engagement activities, therefore event planning and project management skills are important.

- Organise and facilitate appropriate volunteer meetings and training sessions to develop the skills of our volunteers
Community Engagement and Relationship management
- Establish and develop relationships within community networks to help the UKST reach and work with new audiences and demographics which are less well served
- Work with NHS hospitals and Trusts on including volunteers in their sepsis awareness initiatives
- Support volunteers with Public and Patient Involvement (PPI) with a panel PPI volunteers
- Work with schools, universities and community clubs to create opportunities for volunteers to raise awareness
- Work with other departments to develop clear awareness ‘asks’ and tasks for volunteers to introduce into their local communities
Monitoring data, Policy and Admin
- Collect and monitor volunteering activity data and produce analysis and impact reports
- Manage and maintain volunteer information on CRM in compliance with GDPR guidelines
- Keep up to date with legislation and policy related to volunteering and make necessary modifications to accommodate any changes
- Perform other reasonable duties as required.

Purpose of Role
IBP seeks a Director of Fundraising to drive our organization's resource development and financial sustainability. Working at the highest levels of the organization, this leader will develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies to secure multi-year, multi-million-dollar commitments from major international donors. The ideal candidate brings demonstrated success in diversifying revenue streams and building strategic partnerships, along with the ability to both envision ambitious fundraising goals and execute detailed plans to achieve them.
As a key member of the senior team, the Director will provide strategic leadership while managing hands-on fundraising activities, mentor a dedicated fundraising team, and coordinate closely with the Executive Director, Executive Team, Country Directors, Initiative Managers and Advisory Council. Primary Responsibilities
Fundraising Strategy Development and Execution (50%)
- Setting Fundraising Strategy and Vision: Develop and implement a data-driven fundraising strategy aligned with the organization’s broader strategic goals. Set ambitious yet achievable financial targets and ensure alignment across teams.
- Prospecting: Design and execute tailored strategies for identifying, soliciting, and stewarding institutional and individual funders.
- Proposal Development: Lead the creation of compelling funding proposals, pitches, appeals, and other materials to secure funding in collaboration with initiative managers.
- Building and Maintaining Networks: Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders, including high-net-worth individuals, bilateral governments, foundations, and philanthropic groups.
- Innovative Fundraising Strategies: Explore and implement new approaches, such as joint fundraising with partners and sector-based strategies, while enhancing fundraising capacity at country, global, and initiative levels.
- Donor Stewardship: Build long-term relationships with donors through personalized engagement strategies, aligning their interests with the organization's goals.
Donor and Stakeholder Engagement (25%)
- Donor Lifecycle Management: Oversee the full donor lifecycle, from acquisition and engagement to cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
- Board Engagement: Serve as the primary liaison for fundraising with the board of directors and Advisory Council
- Crisis and Risk Management: Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies for fundraising, including planning for economic downturns, donor withdrawals, or reputational risks.
- Engagement Strategies: Collaborate with program teams to design personalized donor engagement strategies, such as tailored reports, briefings, and impact updates identifying clear roles for staff across the organization that is involved directly and indirectly in fundraising efforts.
Direct and Indirect Team Management (25%)
- Resource Allocation and Budgeting: Oversee the fundraising budget, ensuring resources are allocated to high-impact activities based on data-driven decision-making. Collaborate with the Director of Finance and Operations to ensure proper handling of donations, reporting and forecasting.
- Team Building and Development: Recruit, train, and retain a high-performing fundraising team, setting clear roles, responsibilities, and success metrics. Work with the fundraising working group and staff across the organization to strengthen fundraising activities.
- Performance Management and Reporting: Track and report fundraising performance metrics to executive leadership and the board, using analytics to optimize outcomes.
- Developing Internal Talent: Mentor fundraising and program staff in relationship management, donor communications, and strategic planning, while fostering leadership development.
- Building Cross-Functional Capacity/Culture of Philanthropy: Equip senior leaders and program teams with the knowledge and tools to contribute to fundraising efforts, including impact reporting and donor engagement training.

About the role
As a Challenge Events Fundraiser, you will support the Regional Fundraising Team to build a successful programme of challenge events that will raise funds and positively promote the Charity.
This role will focus on a portfolio of mass participation and challenge events, as well as supporting national campaigns and community events delivered by programme scheduling, resource management, event marketing, participant recruitment and stewardship, financial reporting, database management and event evaluation.

Previous experience of event planning, participant recruitment and sponsor stewardship would be an asset to the successful candidate, who will also need experience of working with a CRM database and be competent at interpreting financial information and reports.

Primary Duties:

Lead on developing and executing our digital fundraising strategy: working with our Digital Communications Manager to make sure it aligns with and feeds into our wider organisational digital strategy, as well as with the Head of Development to make sure it aligns with our wider fundraising strategy.

Management of our new CRM: we are in the process of selecting a new CRM solution to support fundraising at THL UK. This role will initially take responsibility for getting this implemented and embedded in the organisation, and then take on the day-to-day management and responsibility of the CRM to make sure we utilise the platform to its full potential and resolve any challenges or issues.

Coordinating our end of year fundraising appeal: our biggest of the year, working with our Digital Fundraiser to develop engaging content and communications, and with our Major Gifts Fundraiser and Head of Development to secure match funds and major gifts, to ensure we secure valuable income each year (this appeal raised over £100k in 2024). You’ll help set and track the targets and metrics for the campaign, and conduct post-campaign analysis to capture what we learn to inform our future activities.

With a focus on acquisition, retention, and conversion, work with our Digital Communications Manager to map out and develop donor journeys as part of our wider supporter journeys, using technological solutions to ensure supporters are progressing effectively.

Regularly assess and analyse supporter and donor data, using these insights to shape our strategy and activities. This includes monitoring engagement levels across various touch points, such as donating, volunteering, taking digital actions, or engaging with our communications, as well as evaluating segmentation and targeting of key audiences. Identify the data needed to inform decision-making and establish mechanisms to capture it effectively.

Work with the Finance Operations Lead to make sure all supporter and donation data in our CRM is accurate, complete and up-to-date: this includes ensuring that Gift Aid claims are regularly made, donation data is regularly reconciled with our finance system, that we have a holistic picture of our supporters, and we have a regular programme of data cleansing in place.

Ensure our donation processes are optimised: allowing us to minimise any possible friction on our donation pages and increase the percentage of those going on to make a donation. Ensuring that we have processes in place to capture abandoned baskets and failed payments, and any technical issues which could disrupt our ability to collect payments are monitored and resolved quickly, working with our technical partners or external experts where necessary.

Oversee the development of any new donation pages or donor data collection forms: whether those are created in-house or by an external consult or agency.

Make sure THL UK team members are getting what they need from our CRM and technical solutions. Ensuring that they are using systems correctly and consistently, to avoid poor practices which might result in bad data or sub-optimal functionality. Including access and user permissions, notifications and alerts for new donors and donations, training and support, and access to dashboards and reports needed to inform their work.

Manage any external support required to optimise our CRM and technological solutions: including our CRM partner, payment processing partner and any additional consultants or third parties. Work with them to make sure any technical issues or significant architectural changes are addressed.

Provide day-to-day support to our Digital Fundraiser: offering advice and guidance, working with them on campaigns and communications to help us achieve the goals as set out in our digital fundraising strategy, including regular pushes for key income streams such as regular giving.

Make sure we optimise any available budget to increase acquisition and conversion to help us achieve our strategic goals.

Hours:
This is a full time position of 37.5 hours per week over Monday to Friday.
From 1st July 2024 we are piloting a four day working week across the whole of the UK organisation. The pilot is planned to run for 12 months, at which point a decision will be made by our Board of Trustees as to whether this will become permanent. Success of the trial relies on the organisation being able to achieve the same or improved level of impact in four working days as five, with staff experiencing either the same or improved levels of wellbeing.
During the four day week pilot, working hours for this position will be reduced to 30 hours per week, to be worked across Monday to Thursday, with no reduction in salary. This will be a temporary change to the contractual terms for the successful candidate. The appointed person must be prepared to increase their working hours to 37.5 hours per week if a return to a five-day working week is decided. In the event that THL UK considers before the end of the trial period that the trial is having an adverse operational impact, we reserve the right to bring the trial to end on one month’s notice.

· Knowledge of graphic design for print and digital content along with basic video editing skills.

The Role:
As their Philanthropic Finance Manager, you will play a pivotal role in managing and optimising philanthropic income, ensuring every donation makes a meaningful impact. Working closely with fundraisers, academic departments, and finance teams, you’ll shape financial strategies that support scholarships, research, and development projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the financial management of philanthropic donations, ensuring compliance, transparency, and alignment with donor expectations.
- Collaborate with fundraisers and academic teams to model project costs, assess fundraising feasibility, and set financial targets.
- Lead financial planning, reporting, and forecasting to maximise the impact of charitable giving.
- Provide expert guidance on financial regulations, donor agreements, tax implications, and best practices in charitable finance.
- Manage a small team responsible for gift administration, donor reporting, and scholarship fund management.
- Liaise with external stakeholders such as the Fundraising Regulator and Charity Commission to ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Enhance financial systems and processes to support Warwick’s long-term philanthropic strategy.
About You:
A highly analytical and detail-oriented finance professional, you thrive in purpose-driven environments. You will bring:
- CCAB or CIMA qualification, with extensive experience in financial management
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards, VAT, tax regulations, and charitable finance.
- Proven expertise in financial planning, budgeting, and income/expenditure modelling.
- The ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
- Experience in higher education finance or a fundraising environment (desirable).
