Join us as a Retrofit Advisor and help shape the future of self-funded home energy improvements in the West of England.
We’re expanding our well-established retrofit advice service and are looking for someone passionate about supporting homeowners to act. You’ll play a key role in developing our new home visit service and, over time, contribute to delivering our in-house HEEP retrofit assessment service.
Operating in the West of England Combined Authority region, we specialise in guiding homeowners through the self-funded retrofit journey – from initial advice and home visits through to the installation of energy-saving measures. You’ll provide trusted, impartial guidance to help homeowners make informed decisions about improving the comfort, energy efficiency, and sustainability of their homes.
As part of this role, you’ll also be involved in shaping the launch of our upcoming landlord services, helping private landlords understand their retrofit responsibilities and supporting them with tailored advice and practical steps to upgrade their properties. In addition, you will help support tenants.
Key responsibilities will include:
• Providing independent, tailored, and high-quality advice to homeowners on retrofit and energy efficiency measures
• Conducting remote and in-person home energy advice visits
• Working with householders to identify suitable improvements and helping them plan next steps
• Collaborating with our wider retrofit team to ensure a joined-up experience for clients
• Supporting the development and delivery of our Home Energy Efficiency Plan (HEEP) assessment service
• Taking an active role in the day-to-day management and delivery of other retrofit and energy-related projects.
This is a great opportunity to influence how retrofit advice is delivered in a growing, self-funded market. The role combines technical understanding with strong communication skills, ensuring every homeowner receives the guidance and confidence they need to move forward.
If successful, you’ll be supported to complete both Retrofit Assessor and Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA) training, with dedicated time set aside to help you achieve these qualifications promptly and with confidence.
Main Duties
Customer Engagement & Retrofit Advice
• Serve as the first point of contact for homeowners exploring retrofit options.
• Build strong relationships and provide clear, impartial advice throughout the retrofit journey — from initial enquiry to installation and follow-up.
• Communicate the benefits of retrofit solutions clearly, and support clients to take confident next steps toward improving their homes.
• Help convert interest into action through timely follow-up, home visits, and practical guidance.
• Provide tailored advice to landlords on improving the energy performance of their rental properties.
• Refer customers to appropriate services, accredited installers, or partners where necessary.
Home Visits
• Conduct home visits to provide personalised retrofit advice, including the use of thermal imaging to identify areas of heat loss.
• If required, training will be provided for thermal imaging to support your assessments and recommendations.
• Guide homeowners through the retrofit process, offering practical solutions to improve energy efficiency in their properties.
HEEP Assessments & Support
• Support the future roll-out of our Home Energy Efficiency Plan (HEEP) service, including the provision of detailed retrofit assessments, ventilation strategies, and heating system evaluations.
• Help develop tailored retrofit improvement plans based on individual property conditions and customer needs.
• Training may be available to carry out HEEP surveys, including the delivery of reports to homeowners outlining the benefits of moving forward with retrofit projects.
Project Delivery & Operations
• This is a varied role that will involve working across multiple projects, requiring a dynamic and adaptable approach.
• Contribute to the day-to-day management of Retrofit West and related projects, ensuring smooth delivery and high-quality service.
• Maintain accurate client records and progress updates using our CRM system.
• Provide feedback and ideas to improve tools, processes, and the overall customer journey.
• Collaborate closely with the wider Retrofit West team, to deliver a joined-up service.
Training & Development
• If successful, you’ll be supported to complete both Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA) training and Retrofit Assessor/Retrofit related, with dedicated time set aside to help you achieve these qualifications promptly and with confidence.
• You will be given a mentor to guide and support your training and on-going development.
Community & Outreach (as needed)
• You may be required to attend outreach events, including some at the weekend, to raise awareness of retrofit benefits and engage new audiences.

JOB TITLE: Facility Coordinator
SALARY: £30,000 - £33,351
LOCATION: LSE Students’ Union
WORKING HOURS: 37 hours per week
CONTRACT TYPE: Full Time
JOB SUMMARY: Join LSE Students' Union as a Facility Coordinator and play a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and effective operation of LSESU Sport, Fitness, and Performance facilities. You will lead the daily operations, manage a broad booking system, and provide exceptional customer service to students and external clients. If you’re passionate about creating a positive user experience and improving facilities, we want to hear from you!
Who are we?
Part business, part charity, part membership body – students’ unions are all seriously fun places to work. They are organisations in their own right. Professionally run, but different. Professional teams support elected student leaders to make change, improve lives and fulfil potential; we help make it happen. Founded in 1897, LSE Students' Union is one of the oldest Students' Unions in the UK and is the representative and campaigning body for students at The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Like other Students' Unions, it also funds and facilitates student activities on campus, including 200+ societies, 40+ sports clubs through the Athletics Union (AU), the Media Group and Raising and Giving (RAG) charitable fundraising initiatives.
What's the Job?
LSESU is looking for a proactive and driven Facility Coordinator to oversee the daily supervision and operation of our sports facilities. You’ll be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the spaces, from health and safety compliance to customer service excellence. You’ll also manage internal and external bookings, including LSE Sports Clubs, and coordinate weekly sports events such as BUCS, Club and Society events and private hires from external companies.
In this role, you’ll work closely with the Ops and Facility Manager to deliver the strategic vision for our facilities, focusing on enhancing the user experience. You will oversee training procedures, incident reporting, and various administrative tasks, including financial reporting and facility usage tracking.
You’ll collaborate closely with both staff and students, playing an active part in day-to-day operations and strategic development of the sports facilities. Your work will have a direct impact on the student experience at LSE, ensuring the seamless running of the facilities and successful execution of sporting events, whilst also managing bookings and supporting continuous improvements and innovations.
Who are we looking for?
We’re looking for a highly organised and customer-focused individual who is passionate about creating a positive and inclusive experience for all users of our facilities. You should have excellent communication skills and be confident in leading a team of student staff, ensuring their development and performance.
A strong passion for customer service and delivering high-quality services are essential. Experience in facility management or sports event coordination is ideal.
We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to solve problems efficiently, a strong work ethic, and work collaboratively with a diverse team.
Why apply?
Because you’re excited by the challenge! The exact opposite of corporate, we’re progressive, daring and creative individuals working to make a difference in unconventional workplaces. Plus…
Benefits and Perks
25 days of holiday per year (pro rata)
Additional closure periods at Christmas and Easter
Free LSE Students’ Union gym membership (including advice from dedicated professionals)
Cycle to Work scheme enabling significant savings on bicycle purchase
Access to LSE staff training courses
Ability to purchase TOTUM (NUS) card, which provides a wide range of discounts
Flexibility for work-life balance
Interest-free travel loan
How do we recruit?
We want to ensure that all systems, policies and processes are free from bias or discrimination and are fair and accessible. Therefore, we ask that all candidates complete our application process by uploading the following three documents:
Part 1: CV – Outlining your skills and experience to date.
Part 2: Supporting Statement – A one-page statement explaining your suitability for the role. This will be used to determine if you are shortlisted for an interview. Please do not include any personal information (e.g., name or date of birth). Use the attached job description and person specification to help with this.
Part 3: Equal Opportunities Monitoring and Contact Form – This includes personal information so we can contact you if you are shortlisted for an interview. It also allows us to gather and analyse demographic information about our applicants. This form will only be seen by HR and will not impact shortlisting.
Application forms are formatted to ensure the equality monitoring data is removed before they are reviewed by the shortlisting panel. This process ensures that shortlisting is conducted fairly and consistently, giving all applicants an equal opportunity to demonstrate their abilities.
For further about the role, please see the attached full job description and person specification.
