About the role
We are recruiting a Communications and Marketing Manager to support income growth through the delivery of Birmingham Hospice's income generation communications and marketing activity.
This is a two-year, fixed-term post covering a secondment – a genuine opportunity to make a lasting impact for a charity with ambitious plans for the future.
Working closely with income generation colleagues, you'll bring together fundraising, media, marketing, digital, creative and campaigns activity to maximise income, supporter acquisition and retention.
You'll be confident leading projects and working collaboratively across teams to deliver impactful campaigns through social media, email and paid media, bringing creativity, innovation and new ideas to help secure and grow all forms of voluntary income and raise the profile of Birmingham Hospice.
What you’ll bring
- A background in a fundraising and/or communications environment
- A proven track record creating multimedia communications campaigns, including social media, email and paid digital advertising (e.g. Meta, Google, TikTok ads)
- Experience of developing and managing digital channels, including websites and a variety of social media platforms
- Some experience of line managing, mentoring or developing team members
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage a complex workload and prioritise effectively
- Creative thinking skills with the ability to spot opportunities for innovation and growth

The Marketing Manager will lead activity that grows awareness of our charity, our social enterprises/ retail arm, and our fundraising work. The role will develop and deliver clear, compelling marketing that strengthens our brand, reaching new audiences, and inspires people to connect with our mission.
Working closely with colleagues across the Trust, the postholder will shape and implement marketing that supports fundraising and social enterprise growth. They will use insight, creativity and storytelling to bring our purpose to life, create products that land and champion consistent, audience-focused marketing across all channels.
As a key leader within the Communication and Marketing team, this role will provide strategic marketing expertise, contributing to department strategy, planning and decision-making.
Main Responsibilities
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to translate complex work into simple, engaging messages and campaigns.
- Plan and deliver integrated campaigns across digital, print, social media, and in-person environment.
- Use audience insight and market analysis to develop fundraising products and identify opportunities for growth and engagement.
- Work collaboratively across teams to ensure consistent messaging and strong brand use.
- This role will lead specific projects and will be expected to understand how to motivate project teams well and deliver high quality results in a timely manner.
Knowledge & Experience
- Proven experience as a Marketing Manager or similar, ideally within a charity, social enterprise, or values-driven organisation.
- Experience of product development for fundraising.
- Strong understanding of digital marketing, analytics, and audience-focused content creation.
- Experience delivering integrated campaigns that drive awareness and engagement.
- Knowledge of brand development and how to maintain consistent messaging across channels.

Position: Marketing Manager
Responsible to: Head of Communications and Marketing
Location: Hybrid with at least one day per week based at one of our communities. Candidates will need to live within easy commuting distance of Delrow (near Watford), St Albans, Grange Village and Oaklands Park (Newnham on Severn), Taurus Crafts (Lydney), Stourbridge, Croft (Malton), Botton Village (near Whitby) or Larchfield (near Middlesbrough).
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday.
Salary: £38,110 - £42,230 per annum, dependent on skills and experience.

- Proven experience delivering integrated marketing and campaign strategies
• Experience of both B2B and B2C marketing
• Strong analytical skills and experience using data and insight to drive decisions
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills
• Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Experience developing engaging content across digital channels
• Confidence working with CRM systems, website platforms and marketing analytics tools
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills
• A proactive and self-directed approach with excellent attention to detail
• Experience within a membership body, professional education or qualifications environment would be highly desirable
