As a member of our Policy, Evidence and Influencing team, this is an excellent opportunity to manage a critical area of our policy work, influencing change across the UK for people affected by secondary breast cancer. This will involve driving forward key areas identified in our secondary breast campaign, including support from a clinical nurse specialist.
You will provide strategic direction on the focus and activities undertaken in this area as well as researching and developing evidence-based policy positions and recommendations. You will also influence directly on behalf of the charity at a senior level at external meetings, develop and maintain contacts, build relationships and increase the charity’s profile, acting on opportunities to influence, as well as inputting into the team’s strategy development, planning and budgeting processes.

Reporting to the Communications Director, you will initially focus on developing parliamentary relationships to promote constitutional reform that is progressive, increases executive accountability, and enhances parliamentary scrutiny.

About the role:
Positive Money is a recognised thought-leader on central banking, the future of money and banking reform. Our work is regularly featured in the national press, including the FT, Times, Telegraph, Guardian, Independent, City AM, and Daily Mail, and we have received support from leading figures in the UK’s main political parties.
The Advocacy & Campaigns Assistant will work with both the influencing and mobilisation teams in developing and delivering Positive Money’s priority campaigns. In the next 12 months a key focus will be on greening the financial system ahead of COP26, but there are a range of other issues we will also be working on. Areas include wider reform of the money and banking system, digital currencies and the need for a fair and green recovery from the Covid crisis, which puts wellbeing above the pursuit of economic growth.
The Advocacy & Campaigns Assistant will assist the influencing team in ensuring that Positive Money is able to react quickly to developments in the areas we work on. The Role

What will you be doing:
You will be involved in writing copy for our many printed publications, web articles, news reports, magazine features, prayer materials and fundraising appeals, in line with in-house style and under the guidance of the Managing and Senior Editors. You will also be involved in proofreading, fact-checking and copyediting pieces of work submitted by colleagues.
What will you need:
- A passion for producing truthful, accurate and compelling written copy that our readers and supporters will find engaging and informative.
- A meticulous eye for detail, high standards of accuracy, along with excellent English grammar, punctuation and spelling skills.
- Basic research and fact-finding skills, including library and internet research experience. In addition, relevant IT skills, including knowledge of standard word processing programmes are essential.
- A demonstrable ability to organise a complex workload, meet regular short and longer-term deadlines and work well under pressure within a tightknit team.
- Some experience of feature writing, journalism or other non-fiction copywriting.
- A good knowledge of Christian theology, current affairs, geopolitical issues and world religions would be a considerable advantage.
Salary is dependent on skills and experience.
You will be working within our Editorial team from our international office in Pewsey, Wiltshire. This is an office-based role.

The Role
We are looking for an experienced communications professional, with knowledge of strategic communications as well as experience of hands-on content production and day-to-day coordination of external communications. The role requires excellent copywriting skills. Knowledge of the financial service industry, impact investing or sustainable finance is desirable, but not essential, as long as there is a clear willingness to learn and embrace new knowledge.
The role will ensure that the Institute continues to deliver high-quality information, original research, events, policy advice and educational materials across our communications channels, particularly our website, newsletters and social media.
The Communications and Engagement Manager will report to the Chief Executive, who oversees all external communications as well as the development and delivery of the Institute’s work programme. The Communications and Engagement Manager will work closely with the Events Manager, as well as across the team, particularly with the Programme Team, the Public Affairs Manager, and the Relationships Coordinator. They will be a key member of the Institute’s small staff, contributing to a productive, energetic and happy team.
The Institute’s current projects include:

A proposal for a ‘green+’ sovereign bond that would scale up the UK’s drive to a net-zero carbon economy with well-defined social and economic benefits. With partner organisations and significant backing from the financial services, we are developing the proposal for international audiences, after the UK government announced it will issue a series of green bonds in 2021.

A campaign with the pensions industry to improve awareness of and competence in impact investing;

The development of educational materials on impact investing for the Institute's Learning Hub and investment professionals, and engagement with key industry bodies to develop new professional training and qualifications;

A research and engagement programme on mobilising more investment for place-based impact; and
-
Policy and advocacy work on impact investing in key regulatory forums in the UK and internationally, including a key focus on impact reporting.
