This role is responsible for the administration of the grant management process including managing external reviews, communicating with funded researchers about project reports, contracting new research projects and responding to funding enquires, as well as the organisation of the Research Committee meetings and review papers. Operational duties
- Play an active part in running our Café in Harrogate, supporting the Café Manager in implementing processes and ways of working.
- Support the Café Manager to maximise the income and profit of the Café through active stock management, replenishment, and rotation.
- Manage the efficient and effective day-to-day operation of the Café in the absence of the Café Manager.

Customer service
- Develop and coach a team of volunteers and staff to deliver an outstanding customer experience.
- Create a welcoming professional atmosphere and deliver high standards of customer service for all customers and supporters.
- Manage complaints effectively and efficiently, escalating to the Café Manager or Centre Manager where they cannot be resolved at a local level.

The Supporter Care Team are looking to hire two Supporter Care Assistant posts who’ll provide excellent customer care; engaging, involving and inspiring all supporters of Crohn’s and Colitis UK through building excellent relationships via a variety of communication channels. The role will involve dealing with donations, ensuring that our records are kept updated on our database, running reports, and undertaking general admin duties.
About You
You’ll have experience of working in a similar role, providing a high standard of customer care in a fast-paced environment, handling supporter queries and providing information in a concise and comprehensive manner. You'll need strong written and verbal communication skills to write engaging and inspiring content and messaging, you'll also be skilled at listening and responding to queries appropriately and be comfortable and effective at managing challenging situations.
You will have the ability to manage a busy workload and deadlines whilst taking ownership of problems to find a solution where possible, escalating to a manager where required.
Experience of Microsoft office is essential, as well as excellent administration skills and high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.

Research Design & Ethics

Support the design of research studies in collaboration with the lived experience team and academic partners.

Support the preparation of ethics applications, participant information sheets, and consent materials.

Participant Engagement

Recruit participants through Pathfinders’ network, social media, and partner organisations.

Ensure accessibility and inclusivity in participant communication and data collection.

Data Collection & Analysis

Conduct qualitative interviews and/or focus groups with participants.

Reporting & Dissemination

Contribute to research reports, briefings, and peer-reviewed papers.

Person Specification
Essential
-
Experience managing or delivering a research project from start to finish (e.g., Master’s dissertation, PhD, or equivalent applied research).

Strong understanding of qualitative research methods (interviews, focus groups, thematic analysis).

Ability to plan and manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing.

Commitment to co-production, lived experience leadership, and inclusive research practices.

Awareness of issues affecting disabled people and/or people with long-term conditions.
Desirable

We are looking for a legacy administration manager to play a crucial part in maximising and securing legacy income for Kidney Research UK. You’ll ensure timely, sensitive and accurate receipt of funds while protecting the charities interests and reputation.
The legacy administration manager will be responsible for a varied caseload of legacies, ranging from pecuniary gifts through to more complex residuary estates, and occasionally contentious cases.
You will have proven experience of charity legacy administration, a solid understanding of inheritance tax, estate accounts, along with the ability to make decisions on complex issues. You’ll also need to be resilient under pressure and able to handle sensitive conversations with compassion, diplomacy and professionalism.

Our Location
We are based in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, so we are easily accessible by road and rail. In this role, there is plenty of scope for working from home, although there will be times when you will need to be at face-to-face meetings. There is a requirement for you to attend a minimum of 12 in person days a year, including two Directorate meetings and the charity’s mandatory ‘All Staff Together’ days which take place four times a year at our offices in Hatfield or a location in London.
