Your Opportunity to Make a Difference

We’re currently looking to appoint four new Trustees to bring fresh perspectives and help us grow in diversity, representation and expertise. As a Trustee, you'll help guide and shape our charity’s future.

While the day-to-day running of our charity is handled by our staff and volunteers, the Board of Trustees plays a key role in making sure everything stays on track.

That includes overseeing our work, making big-picture decisions, and ensuring we meet our legal and regulatory responsibilities. It’s an important role, but you won’t be doing it alone. You will:

• Provide strategic oversight and guidance to support our mission and values
• Use your insight and experience to influence decisions that impact tens of thousands of learners annually
• Act as an ambassador for environmental education and social inclusion
• Contribute to Board and committee meetings, and participate in key annual activities including visiting one of our field centres each year to see our work in action
• Use your knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm to help us innovate, grow, and reach more people

For almost 30 years, Hope and Homes for Children has been driven by an unwavering belief: every child deserves to grow up in a loving family, never in orphanages. We’re working to transform care systems and eliminate orphanages worldwide because we know that the last thing an orphanage can provide is the first thing a child needs – someone to love them. We help to bring millions of separated children back to family.

Our unique strength lies in our practice base – hands-on experience in successfully closing orphanages and reforming childcare systems. An estimated 5.4 million children live in institutions around the world. We’ve already helped reduce the number of children in Romanian institutions from over 100,000 to less than 4,000, and we’re close to eliminating ALL orphanages entirely in Romania, Bulgaria, Moldova and Rwanda whilst scaling our work across India, Nepal, South Africa, Kenya, and Ukraine to support overhauling their child care systems.

Our advocacy reached a watershed moment when all 193 UN member states unanimously agreed that orphanages must be eliminated – a historic first in global child welfare. Now, with refreshed branding and strategic partnerships that amplify our impact, we’re embarking on our most ambitious decade yet. Our goal? To create a decisive shift in how policymakers, businesses, and society view institutional care, establishing family-based care as the only acceptable standard.

We’re architects of systemic change, successfully influencing EU funding regulations to prioritise family-based care over institutions. As poverty deepens and discrimination persists, an estimated 5.4 million children remain confined in orphanages – 80% of whom have at least one living family member who could care for them with the right support. This is why our work has never been more critical.

We stand at a pivotal moment. By 2030, we aim to build a global consensus that orphanages are an unacceptable way to care for children. Working as a catalyst, our strategy ‘Alive With Hope’ focuses on three key objectives:

• Implementing national reform across 9 countries.
• Building influential partnerships to secure significant commitments to make child care reform a human imperative.
• Developing innovative financing mechanisms to support global reform.

Our Board meets quarterly in London (with an option to join virtually), with meetings designed to maximise engagement and impact. Subcommittees meet virtually, 4-5 times annually, ensuring efficient use of trustees’ time while maintaining robust governance. Trustees
Term: Trustees will be appointed for a four year term and can serve consecutive terms.
Remuneration: Currently, the role of Trustee is not accompanied by any financial remuneration, although reasonable expenses may be claimed.
Attendance: We expect Trustees to be able to attend all board meetings, our annual strategic away day and engage with Agenda Alliance in other ways. As a Flyer Distributor you will play a crucial role in helping to raise awareness about our services and events within the Enfield community. You will be responsible for disseminating promotional materials such as flyers, brochures, and event announcements to various locations within the Enfield area.

• Distribute promotional materials provided by Age UK Enfield to designated locations across the Enfield area. This may include community centers, libraries, local businesses, healthcare facilities, and other relevant locations.
• Engage with members of the public in a friendly and courteous manner while distributing flyers. Answer any questions they may have about Age UK Enfield's services and provide basic information about upcoming events or initiatives.
• Keep accurate records of the locations visited and the quantity of promotional materials distributed. Report back to the supervisor on to provide updates on distribution progress.
• Act as an ambassador for Age UK Enfield by promoting the organisation's mission, values, and services to the community. Help to increase brand recognition and visibility within the local area.

Volunteer Role Description (remote, unpaid)

As a Program Assistant for our wellness advocacy training program, you will play a key role in supporting the program's smooth operation. You will assist Mojisola, who leads the program, in recruiting facilitators and participants, coordinating activities, and ensuring effective delivery. Your work will contribute directly to the success of our wellness advocacy initiatives, ensuring they align with the mission and objectives of our organisation

Responsibilities:

• Facilitator & Participant Recruitment: Assist in identifying and recruiting qualified facilitators and participants for the wellness advocacy training program.
• Program Support & Coordination: Provide logistical support for program activities, ensuring smooth execution.

As a charity we can help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations from our supporters. Raising funds is a key role in our charity, helping to raise the vital funds needed to help more cats and kittens in need.

As a fundraising volunteer, we will support you every step of the way to ensure your time at Cats Protection is a positive and rewarding one. Whatever time you can give really does make a big difference We have lots of exciting activities to choose from for example attending a fundraising event, fundraising online, promoting fundraising activities on social media, handling administrative tasks, or contributing to the development of new fundraising ideas. In this role, you’ll help shape and oversee the delivery of engaging, meaningful youth services that inspire and uplift young people across London.

In this role, you will:

• Coordinate a Youth project or regular activity, by overseeing the planning and delivery of the youth project or activity, ensuring activities run smoothly and meet the needs of young people within the community.

• Support Young People, by building strong relationships with young people, acting as a key point of contact for their feedback and supporting their personal development.

Role Description

Quilombo UK is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Services Sales Executive to join our team through the Enhanced Professional Development Programme (ePDP). This is a target-driven, client-facing volunteer sales role focused on direct outreach and conversion of potential service users into paying clients. You will be responsible for actively identifying leads, initiating conversations, pitching our services, and closing deals.

The successful candidate will sell Quilombo UK’s key service offerings:

• Workshops (e.g. Unconscious Bias, Inclusive Leadership)

• Training Programmes

• Research Services

• Event & Partnership Opportunities
   

As a member of the Sales & Business Development function, you will be managed by a Director and accountable for results that directly impact the organisation’s financial sustainability and growth. This role provides real-world, high-impact experience that mirrors the standards and performance expectations of a paid sales role.

Main Responsibilities

• Proactively research and identify prospective clients aligned with Quilombo UK’s mission and services

• Initiate direct outreach (calls, emails, online meetings) to decision-makers across public and private sectors

• Deliver compelling sales pitches and presentations tailored to each client’s needs

• Handle end-to-end sales processes, from lead generation and qualification through to closing deals

• Secure confirmed bookings or contracts for services, including workshops, training, research, or event partnerships

• Develop and maintain a strong client pipeline, updating CRM or tracking systems regularly

• Consistently meet or exceed weekly/monthly KPIs related to outreach, meetings, and conversions

• Collaborate with the Director to refine messaging and sales strategy for maximum impact

• Maintain a consultative, value-led sales approach while staying aligned with Quilombo UK’s mission and ethos

• Provide performance updates and sales reports to the Director and Senior Leadership Team

• Stay updated on industry trends, client needs, and potential growth areas relevant to our services

Essential

• Demonstrated experience in a sales, business development, or account management role

• Proven track record of generating leads and closing deals, preferably in a service-based or social enterprise environment

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Strong presentation and negotiation abilities

• Confidence to work independently and take initiative, while collaborating within a remote team

• Passion for social justice, community engagement, and inclusion

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Desirable

• Familiarity with CRM tools and remote communication platforms

• Experience selling services to the public sector or third-sector organisations

• Understanding of social enterprises or community-based businesses

The Professional Development Programme with Quilombo UK runs over a period of 16 weeks, is UNPAID, and requires a minimum of 12 hours commitment per week across Monday, Wednesday and/or Friday.

Application Process

Our HR team will contact you upon successful application to arrange an interview. Following a successful interview, onboarding documents will be sent. Once completed, you’ll be invited to a 6-hour HR and Systems Induction, followed by a meeting with your assigned Director for your first day.
