About you

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with relevant experience in membership. The successful candidate will be helping to grow the BES membership, build member engagement, develop the CRM system and work closely with the Membership Committee.
About the role
This role offers an opportunity to be part of the Society Programmes team which includes membership, events, grants, communication, fundraising and development. The successful candidate will be educated to degree level or equivalent with the ability to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders. They will have demonstrable experience of working in a membership organisation and have a good eye for detail. Experience in marketing, financial processes and an interest in ecology is desirable.
Core duties will include:
- Help the Society to foster and benefit from an engaged and responsive membership
- Build and nurture strong relationships with all Society audiences
- Provide opportunities for membership to feed back through open channels of communication to improve the experience of members
- Manage the administration of the day-to-day membership enquiries and financial processes
- Help to generate and implement membership acquisition and retention initiatives
- Promote membership and fundraising initiatives, working with other relevant Society staff as appropriate
- Maintain and help to develop the CRM system to ensure that it meets the current and future needs of the Society

What is the role?
In this role you will proactively develop a pipeline of long term, high value multifaceted corporate partnerships that maximise income, value and influence for Macmillan, in line with the wider Corporate Partnership Strategy. Using your skills and experience you will build a diverse pipeline of opportunities, create compelling propositions, lead negotiations and deliver pitches to secure a range of new corporate partnerships including sponsorship, commercial, charity of the year and strategic. This is an exciting role that involves working with a wide range of senior stakeholders to identify new opportunities and secure new corporate partners. This role also has line management responsibilities.
Who are we looking for?
As our ideal candidate, you clearly know how to strike the balance between confidence and persistence, patience and diplomacy, and are expert at managing internal and external stakeholders to develop compelling propositions. We are looking for an experienced candidate who has extensive experience in the charity sector with a proven track record of securing diverse partnerships worth over £100,000 p.a. Your skills and knowledge include:
- Commercial understanding and cross sector business knowledge
- Expert sales, influencing and negotiation skills
- Experience of working within a business development function in fundraising
- Evidence of successful acquisition of high value partnerships using a data and insight driven approach
- Experience of establishing effective relationships at the most senior levels within large, commercial organisations
- Target driven, proactive and creative in developing tailor made proposals and pitches to meet corporate objectives
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Line Management experience

We have a new opportunity for a Grants and Sponsorship Fundraising Manager to join the team, working across all sites to develop and drive York Museums Trust Grants and Sponsorship Strategy in line with our ambitions and priorities.
Founded in 2002, the Trust has a strong record of fundraising and this post is designed to build on these foundations. We are seeking an experienced and successful Grants and Sponsorship fundraiser who will develop, manage and co-ordinate a portfolio of statutory, trusts and foundations and corporate supporters, cultivating strong and long-lasting partnerships. Managing the Trust’s CRM system, you will ensure successful relationship management and enjoy inspiring and developing relationships with our staff, managers, trustees and our donors and supporters.
You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an experience of developing, writing and submitting large grant applications for major projects. You will also be able to demonstrate a proven track record of securing grants and achieving financial targets alongside proactively searching out new funding streams through research and networking.
This role will work from home temporarily in line with other YMT staff. In the long term this role will be based in York, but with the option to work flexibly. Attendance at fundraising events and stakeholder meetings in York will be part of the role.
