This is an exciting time at EHAAT. Over the past two years, a strategy has been devised and initiated to develop major giving as a new stream of funding for the charity. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of working with senior level prospects and givers in a charitable context, as well as experience across other areas including legacies, trusts and foundations and corporate fundraising. A genuine team player, they will demonstrate strategic thinking, creativity and leadership, to inspire and motivate key individuals and to build strong, long-lasting relationships with the charity. In addition, they will have management experience to unite, develop and lead the team to achieve challenging targets and deliver long term philanthropic goals.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the strategy to build philanthropic giving at EHAAT in consultation with the CEO, Executive Team, Trustees and Development Board, to support the charity’s objectives and long term aims.
- Deliver a fundraising plan across the Philanthropy & Partnerships team, including major giving, legacies, trusts and foundations and corporate partnerships, to achieve agreed strategic objectives.
- Provide excellent executive support and guidance to the Development Board and the Chair, and take a leading role in building the Board further by identifying and recruiting to its membership and the wider pool of Ambassadors.
- Ensure philanthropic giving to the charity is strengthened through in-depth research, compelling proposals, wellcrafted approaches for gifts and excellent stewardship.
- Deliver regular activity and income reports and participate in the budgeting and forecasting of income in this area.
- Lead and support the Philanthropy & Partnerships team, enabling team members to fulfil their potential and meet agreed objectives through collaborative and shared working.
- Work across the charity to collaboratively create exciting and impactful propositions for funding, impact reports, and stewardship opportunities, in particular relating to the Centre for Excellence.
- Implement and regularly review an effective gift policy and undertake all necessary due diligence prior to accepting gifts, ensuring donations and grants are correctly allocated and used, and conditions met.
- Develop and maintain a detailed knowledge of EHAAT's current work and future strategic plans.
- Identify potential relationships and opportunities across the fundraising team, recognising where there is overlap.
- Act as a source of expertise in major gift fundraising for the charity, advising trustees, development board and executive team on managing key philanthropic relationships and partnerships.

Organisational Background
The Council for At-Risk Academics is a UK-registered charity founded in 1933 under the leadership of William Beveridge, to rescue academics suffering persecution under the rise of Nazism and facilitate their continued work in safety. Sixteen Cara Fellows from the 1930s and 1940s became Nobel Laureates, and many more innovators in their fields, including, Nikolaus Pevsner, Lise Meitner and Karl Popper. A number of Cara’s founders and Council members also personally provided places and/or funds to help individual academics; and Cara, known in the 1930s as the AAC, later the SPSL, was closely involved in the successful effort in 1933 to bring to London the Warburg Institute art library, which had been prohibited by the Nazis, and six of its staff. The Fellowship Programme is the continuation of the rescue mission operation started in 1933.
Cara has been a lifeline to academics at risk for just over 90 years, as and when world events have placed them in the line of fire: Hungarian Uprising, Cold War, Apartheid South Africa, Iran, Latin American Juntas, Vietnam, Kosovo, DRC, Rwanda, Sudan, Zimbabwe etc. and, more recently Iraq, Turkey, Yemen, Palestine, Syria, Afghanistan and Ukraine. Cara support is typically framed as temporary sanctuary offered at times of heightened risk.
Cara Objectives ‘To assist academics who have been, or are, or are at risk of being, subject to discrimination, persecution, suffering or violence on account of race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group, or political opinion, to relieve needs among them and their dependants and ensure that their specialist knowledge and abilities can continue to be used for the benefit of the public.’

Fellowship Programme Officer Role & Responsibilities
Fellowships
- Lead on New Fellows Team cases and provide comprehensive support to Cara Fellows using trauma-informed practice.
- Secure fee waivers, bursaries & in-kind support from universities, research institutes and other funding bodies.
- Provide logistical support to Fellows prior to and after their arrival in the UK.
- Coordinate with regional exam centres to facilitate IELTS or equivalent fee waivers for Fellows.

The College Centre for Quality Improvement (CCQI) works with mental health services to assess and improve the quality of care they provide. Job Description
- Coordinate the organisation and communication of sports fixtures to home and opposition teams in British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) and London Universities Sports Leagues (LUSL) competitions.
- Support the Campus Manager with the delivery of sports club committee training.
- Act as the main point of contact for sports club captains for sports queries.
- Act as the main point of contact for opposition institutions.
- Coordinate entries into BUCS, LUSL and one-off sports competitions.
- Maintain accurate records of team members and contacts using the systems available.
- Maintain accurate budgets for all expenditure and income for all Team Greenwich Clubs.
- Manage MSL system to support Team Greenwich memberships, events, income and products.
- Maintain GSU What’s on Page to consistently reflect the Sports calendar and offer throughout the year.
- Collaborate with Team Greenwich Clubs & Members to promote and highlight any events, success stories and impact.
- Coordinate student sports club’s facility bookings internally and externally.

- Support any potential society or GSU move sessions / groups in transitioning to Team Greenwich Sports Clubs.

About Thyroid UK
Thyroid UK is a charitable organisation working to inform and support people living with thyroid disorders in the UK and campaigning on their behalf for the right tests to diagnose thyroid disease and to have a choice of treatment options.
The provision of quality information for people with both diagnosed and undiagnosed thyroid disorders is the primary concern of Thyroid UK, and we work effectively in this field through dialogue with NHS departments, networking with other voluntary organisations, and providing services directly to patients. We work to encourage scientific research for the education, alleviation, care, treatment and cure of thyroid disease and seek to influence public health policy for the benefit of people affected.
Role and Responsibilities
We are seeking a Charity Operations Manager to run the smooth, effective operation of the organisation so we can best support people in the UK living with thyroid disease. This is a management role leading on all operational activities, supporting and working in close collaboration with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Salary will be reviewed after an initial 6 month probationary period.
This role involves minimal supervision and is responsible for the day to day running and management of the charity.
General office management:
· General secretarial and administrative support including routine office tasks where needed
· To manage all operational activity of the charity according to the strategic direction provided by the Board of Trustees
· To be responsible for all aspects of staff and volunteer management, including recruitment, training and supervision
· Collaborating with other team members to ensure that information flows effectively
Support the CEO:
· Foster good relationships with other charities, organisations and research groups; supporting beneficiaries; liaising with patrons, medical advisers and trustees to support continued engagement
· Plan, market, manage and organise/deliver our projects such as conferences, webinars, surveys etc. to meet our strategic goals
· To ensure the financial sustainability of the charity by identifying and securing appropriate funding that supports the charity in achieving its objectives.
· To lead on trust and corporate fundraising to ensure our income streams remain stable and sustainable.
· Draft, proofread and publish the quarterly member magazine
· Draft and send our E-news to our beneficiaries

· The role will require attendance at Board meetings that take place on Saturdays quarterly with one in London per year

A critical part of the role is also managing the Foundation’s CRM (Raisers’ Edge) system across the organisation.
You will be line managed and supported day-to-day by the Senior Fundraising Manager, who will work with you to upskill and develop you in the charity sector. This is a pivotal role in supporting the smooth running of the team. Fundraising Manager (Grants and Trusts)
Working closely with the Chief Executive, the Fundraising Manager will help secure and sustain existing and new grant income streams from trusts and foundations, corporate partnerships, statutory bodies, and other local or national funders. We are looking for a strong candidate able to develop compelling AFRUCA funding proposals tailored to the requirement of each funder. They must have a strong knowledge and understanding of the UK charity sector fundraising landscape. They must possess excellent written communication and organising skills. They must possess sound interpersonal skills with an ability to influence and negotiate with external and internal stakeholders. They must be assertive, able to demonstrate personal resourcefulness in the generation of new revenue and funding streams for AFRUCA.
