About the Role
In this exciting and varied role, you will play a key part in delivering the College’s education and events strategy. With over 70 events each year, ranging from online learning sessions to major conferences, you will be at the heart of ensuring delegates, speakers and partners have an outstanding experience.
You will become an expert in our event processes and systems, supporting smooth operations from first enquiry through to post‑event reporting. Key tasks and responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- First point of contact for event delegates, handling queries by email and phone with professionalism and warmth.
- Assist with day‑to‑day administration and preparation of event materials such as sign‑in sheets, name badges and speaker bios.
- Support venue research and sourcing and maintain organised team filing systems.
- Attend and support events, online and in‑person, including set‑up, registration, delegate support and pack‑down.
- Help promote events through email campaigns, website updates, social media and external event listings.
About You

About the Role
As General Manager, you will play a central role in leading and developing the work of The Victoria League for Commonwealth Friendship, raising its profile and ensuring its long-term sustainability. · Assisting with the transition to a new accounting system.

· Processing and accounting for all supplier invoices and payments,
· Completing month end journals and balance sheet reconciliations.
· Preparing and submitting Gift Aid claims in a timely manner
You should possess excellent numeracy and accuracy with detailed spreadsheets, along with effective administration skills and the ability to handle confidential information sensitively. You should be a good communicator, both verbally and in writing and be able to work independently and as part of the Finance Team.

Reporting to the Membership Events Manager, key responsibilities will include:
· Lead and manage workstreams for organisation of Annual Conference, including chairing Working Group meetings, coordinating exhibitions, managing registration, accommodation and catering bookings, venue sourcing, IT and AV requirements and more
· Work alongside Membership Services, Communications and Compliance teams, as well as Brand, to collaborate cohesively on events
· Create and distribute registration forms for all events and manage responses and attendee requirements
· Liaise with venue staff, raise relevant payments, negotiate prices and conditions, and finalise event agreements according to changing requirements
· Use appropriate and effective event planning tools to manage workload, deadlines and reporting

- Manage a personal caseload of 50 complex and contentious matters, including litigation, disputes and reputationally sensitive issues.
- Work closely with the legal team, executors, solicitors and co-beneficiaries to protect Marie Curie’s entitlement.

Skills & Experience Needed

Purpose of the post:
