Role

In this role, you will provide pro-active specialist, trauma-informed emotional, practical and advocacy support for male, trans and non-binary survivors aged 13–24 who have experienced sexual violence and are currently engaged with, or actively considering engaging with, the Criminal Justice System (CJS). This includes young people who present with additional or intersecting needs (e.g. mental health, neurodiversity, disability, immigration, homelessness, substance use, care-experienced backgrounds, or LGBTQIA+ identity). The role empowers young people to understand their rights, navigate the CJS, and make informed decisions about reporting, ongoing involvement, and special measures.

Our ISVAs work with clients currently residing in any London borough, or if the abuse was committed in any London borough. Travel across London will be expected.

About The Role

Kingston Bereavement Support (KBS) is the only bereavement service in Kingston Upon Thames. We are a registered provider to local GPs and an organisational member of the Childhood Bereavement Network. We are organisational members of British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, and we work in accordance with their Ethical Framework.

The Service Manager will provide strategic leadership in the development and delivery of a  high-quality service for our clients. This role will drive continuous learning, service improvements, and strong partnership engagement to ensure that KBS provides the best support possible. Social prescribing empowers people to take control of their health and wellbeing through referral to non-medical Social Prescribing Link Workers, who give time, focus on ‘what matters to me’ and take a holistic approach, connecting people to community groups and statutory services for practical and emotional support.

Social prescribing can help to strengthen community resilience and personal resilience and reduces health inequalities by addressing the wider determinants of health, such as debt, poor housing and physical inactivity, by increasing people’s active involvement with their local communities. It particularly works for people with long-term conditions (including support for mental health), for people who are lonely or isolated, or have complex social needs which affect their wellbeing.
At the centre of the social prescribing process is the Social Prescribing Link Worker, working with GP Practices in a Primary Care Network, who connects patients who are referred to a range of activities and services in the local area depending on their needs, interests and capacity for engagement. The Referral and Operational Development Manager will play a pivotal role in supporting the Managing Director with new business development, coordinating and managing referrals, assessments, tenancies and transitions for our customers with learning disabilities and autism.

The working pattern for this role is:Monday - Friday 9am-5pm

What you'll do:
Referral & Assessment Coordination
* Monitor and respond to referrals from external sources and direct contacts.
* Maintain a current tracking system for referral clarity and produce regular reports.
* Analyse referral data to identify local commissioning needs and growth opportunities.
* Work with managers on person-centered assessments covering care needs, environmental suitability, risk management, and transition planning.
* Complete and submit needs assessments with costings and support package requirements.
* Coordinate the assessment process and internal referral meetings.
* Develop a responsive referral and assessment pathway aligned with best practice.
* Act as the first point of contact for stakeholders ensuring timely and responsive communication.

Key Responsibilities

• Work with the Community & Challenge Events Manager to deliver tailored supporter journeys and outstanding stewardship for community and challenge event fundraisers.
• Support the Fundraising & Marketing Officer with stewarding leads and enquiries generated through advertising and outreach.
• Manage community fundraising and challenge event registrations via the MQ website and platforms such as JustGiving.
• Assist with creating engaging marketing and stewardship materials for community and challenge event supporters.
• Contribute to developing new ideas and opportunities that inspire supporters and grow income for mental health research.

Key Activities

• Build and maintain strong, rewarding relationships with MQ fundraisers.
• Work closely with Marketing colleagues to develop compelling content and materials.
• Keep all challenge event listings on the MQ website up to date.
• Respond to social media messages and moderate supporter comments as needed.
• Attend challenge and community events (including some evenings and weekends) to represent MQ and support participants.
• Serve as a key point of contact for third-party event organisers.
• Manage enquiries and registrations from community and challenge event fundraisers.
• Identify and cultivate new fundraising opportunities with schools, colleges, universities, and wider community groups.
• Keep MQ’s database accurate and up to date, working closely with the Senior Data Officer to ensure correct income coding.
• Arrange and send supporter packs and fundraising materials throughout the supporter journey.
• Provide wider team support as required.
