Role Mission.
To lead the creation and delivery of Scotty’s new navigating entitlements casework (START) Programme, a single point of contact service designed to support anyone affected by military-connected bereavement.
This is a hands-on, pioneering role. You’ll help shape the infrastructure, recruit and lead a small squad of caseworkers, and ensure that everyone in the bereaved military community receives compassionate, personalised, and well-coordinated support.
The key responsibilities of this role are:
Service Design & Delivery
- Working closely with the Head of Service, lead the operational planning and phased rollout of the START Programme
- Develop and refine service model, workflows, triage criteria, and beneficiary journeys
- Own the SPOC offer, ensuring clear onboarding, needs assessments, support plans, and follow-up
- Ensure the service is trauma-informed, inclusive, and responsive to beneficiary feedback
- Manage your own caseload alongside Programme Head responsibilities.
Team Leadership & Development
- Help recruit and then directly support 1 initial caseworker (with potential to grow team in 2027 depending on demand)

Contribution to Charity-Wide Goals

The 30-day goals for this role are:

- Worked with Head of Service to map the new casework (START) programme and beneficiary journeys.
- Worked with the Head of Service and the Head of Impact to ensure that processes are in place to monitor the outcomes and impact of the new START Programme.
- With the Head of Service, supported the design of a light CRM for initial use in START casework.
- Drafted all other necessary processes and procedures for casework including safeguarding, triage, wait time limits etc.
- Drafted a training plan for new START caseworkers.
The 90-day goals for this role are:
- Launched the new START Programme.
- Built strong partner networks for any needed referrals or information gathering to support casework.
- Created a road map of future Programme releases (e.g. new services within the programme, themes, cohort specific activities etc).

The Net Zero Carbon programme was established to help the Church of England to deliver its commitment to reaching Net Zero Carbon by 2030. It aims to aims to equip, resource and support all parts of the Church to reduce carbon emissions from the energy used in its buildings, schools and through work-related transport by 2030. The team manages the distribution of a grant portfolio worth £190 million across 2023-33, aimed at supporting and equipping dioceses, parishes and other parts of the Church to reach the milestones set out in the Routemap to Net Zero 2030.
This role will play a vital role in supporting the work of the Net Zero Carbon Programme's grant streams, supporting it in delivering a consistent and responsive service to grantees.
The purpose of this role is to provide a responsive service as operational officer for the grant schemes under the Churches Workstream in the Net Zero Carbon Programme:
- Currently the Demonstrator Churches Grant Fund and the Boiler Replacement Hardship Grant Fund,
- 26-28 Decarbonising Churches Grant Fund
The postholder will be the first point of contact on behalf of the grant giver for new applicants and existing grantees under the grant schemes, handling a busy caseload from pre-application contact through to completion. This will involve all aspects of grant service delivery including assessment, issuing of offers and rejections, monitoring, payments, quality assurance and evaluation within the governance and decision-making framework in place for the grant schemes. The postholder will work under the supervision of the Demonstrator Churches Grants Manager and the Decarbonising Churches Lead, who will provide overall guidance and strategic oversight for the relevant grant funds, and will work closely with the Grants Administrator on operational matters.
The role will report directly to the Net Zero Carbon Programme's Decarbonising Churches Lead.

We are now recruiting for a Programme Coordinator for our schools in Manchester.
- The Manchester Programme Coordinator oversees a caseload of up to seven partner schools. They manage the logistics and organisation of each school’s tutoring programme, working closely with the schools and pupils and managing the pool of volunteer tutors. Duties and responsibilities

About the role
The Impact and Learning Consultant will play a central role in advancing how the Vitol Foundation understands, measures and deepens its impact. They will build on existing frameworks, tools and processes developed by our Head of Impact, Learning and Strategy who is due to go on maternity leave, as well as bring their own expertise to further strengthen our approach to impact and learning, embedding it into our day-to-day decisions. As our lead expert in this area, the Consultant will ensure that our strategy and grantmaking are guided by emerging data and evidence, and support continuous learning across all our work.
The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in the field of measurement and evaluation, combining strategic leadership experience with strong hands-on technical skills to support Foundation colleagues and nonprofit partners. Key responsibilities
Impact measurement and reporting
- Continue rollout of the foundation‑level impact framework across our grant portfolio, making ongoing adjustments and clarifications as it’s being road-tested with a growing number of grantees.
- Design and refine grant‑level impact measures. Develop impact indicators for new grants and review existing ones, working closely with programme managers and partners to ensure alignment with project goals, partner capacity and the foundation‑level impact framework.
- Review and strengthen data quality of incoming partner reports to ensure that progress is meaningfully captured through quantitative and qualitative indicators. Check for clarity, completeness, consistency and data quality, and provide feedback or make revisions as needed.
- Support uptake and adjustments to our impact dashboards in Salesforce to ensure clarity and usefulness for Foundation colleagues. Work with the Operations Manager and external developers to implement changes where needed.
Learning and strategy implementation
- Regularly synthesise and share lessons learned from across our grant portfolio as well as from the wider international development sector. Highlight emerging data, evidence and findings, and their implications for the Foundation’s strategy and grants.
- Conduct rapid evidence reviews to inform sector‑level strategies and individual grants as they are developed or revised. Work closely with programme leads and partners to ensure emerging evidence is reflected in design and implementation, and to identify ways to build credible evidence to strengthen the impact of our grants.
- Serve as a technical expert for externally-led evaluations of our grants, including reviewing research protocols, data collection tools, analysis plans, and consent and safeguarding processes. Note: evaluations will be commissioned by external parties, this role will not manage evaluation contracts or teams.
Internal and external communications
- Draw out insights from impact data, other programme documents and external sources to inform management and board reporting, including regular tracking of portfolio‑level outcomes, key trends and lessons learned.
- Work with the Head of Communications to draft content for internal and external audiences, using relevant data and statistics and creating compelling visualisations that reinforce key messages.
