Development Manager
Purpose of the Role
The Development Manager will play a vital role in expanding The Churchill Fellowship’s income from Trusts, Foundations, and other institutional funders. Working closely with the Development Director, the post holder will identify, cultivate and secure new funding partnerships that support our core Fellowship programme, unrestricted income, and the Activate Programme in line with our organisational priorities.
The postholder will manage the full funder journey, from initial engagement to long-term stewardship, ensuring all relationships are grown and managed professionally and effectively. They will work closely with relevant departments to coordinate proposals, reports, and communications, helping maintain strong connections with funders.
Key responsibilities
Prospecting and Pipeline Development
- Research and identify new potential supporters, primarily from the Trusts & Foundations sector, with some engagement of aligned individuals or family-foundation prospects in conjunction with the wider Development Team.
- Support the Development Director in delivering targeted cultivation and engagement strategies to grow new income streams.
- Build and maintain a healthy, dynamic pipeline of qualified new business opportunities.
- Monitor sector trends to identify emerging supporters and new partnership opportunities
Approaches and Proposal Development
- Prepare tailored, persuasive funding proposals, applications, and cases for support, drawing on internal expertise and materials.
- Lead on initial engagement with new prospects, coordinating meetings, briefings and follow-up communications.
- Manage the cultivation process ensuring prospects receive timely and professional engagement throughout.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure proposals are accurate, evidence-based and aligned with organisational objectives.
Relationship Management
- Act as the key contact for donors and funders secured through this role, managing relationships and ensuring continuity of communication.
- Work closely with the Development Director, Appeal Director and CEO to coordinate senior-level involvement in funder engagement where appropriate.
- Ensure accurate monitoring, evaluation and reporting for all grants, providing timely updates and impact information to funders. Liaise with colleagues across the organisation to identify when and how internal contacts or senior volunteers can support prospect engagement, ensuring this complements any existing relationships or approaches.
Internal Collaboration and Systems
- Record all activity in Salesforce, ensuring accurate data capture on all prospect and funder activity.
- Contribute to income forecasting and team reporting
- Collaborate with colleagues across departments to align fundraising approaches with strategic initiatives, ensuring consistent messaging and shared priorities.
General
- Ensure fundraising activity complies with relevant regulations, GDPR, and due diligence processes and ethical fundraising policies
- Support Development team events and activities as required, occasionally outside normal working hours.
- Undertake any other duties as reasonably required by the Development Director to support the success of the team and organisation.
Person Specification
Qualification:
- Degree level or equivalent transferable skills - Desirable
Skills and Experience
- 3 - 5 years’ experience in a fundraising, grants or donor facing role, particularly prospecting new funders
- Proven success in securing funding from Trusts & Foundations or HNWIs, particularly new business (one-off or multiyear grants and repeat grants)
- Strong experience in research & prospect identification for trusts/foundations or major donors
- Excellent proposal/application writing, with ability to tailor cases to funder priorities
- Good interpersonal and communication skills — able to engage funders at senior levels and with colleagues internally
- Strong organisational skills, managing multiple proposals and deadlines simultaneously
- Proficiency with CRM systems (preferably Salesforce) and using it to manage pipeline / prospect data
- Ability to interpret and present information (budgets, impact data, reports) clearly to funders and internal stakeholders
- Ability to work both independently and in collaboration with senior staff, trustees and senior volunteers
- Knowledge of fundraising regulations, due diligence and GDPR

We have embraced the benefits of working from home and at the same time, we value the contribution of face-to-face contact in building teamwork, collaborating with your colleagues, exchanging ideas and know-how, and for work efficiency. Engagement Coordinator
Brighton and Hove Speak Out is a dynamic local advocacy charity. We support people with learning disabilities to have a voice and choice and control over their lives through providing a range of advocacy services and community projects.
We are seeking to appoint a part time Advocacy and Engagement Coordinator to deliver a programme of engagement and consultation activity. The post holder will support people with learning disabilities to have their say about local services, share their experience about how support and services impact on their lives and make recommendaitions for improvements.
The role involves organising outreach and consultation on different issues. The post holder will support a group of self-advocates (the Link Group) to take part in planning, running and reporting to the Learning Disability Partnership Board.
The Post Holder will also support health advocacy, training and awareness raising at Speak Out. They will support the ‘Thumbs Up' campaign led by a group of Speak Out members.
About you
The successful candidate will need excellent communication and organisational skills, including report writing, and will be able to manage a complex workload. Experience of advocacy and/or group work with vulnerable clients is essential. Knowledge of learning disability services and experience of working with people with learning disabilities is an advantage.

It would be desirable for the successful candidate to hold the national qualification in independent advocacy, however this can be undertaken once in post.

SCBP is seeking to appoint a Bike Project Manager. Working closely with the CEO, trustees and volunteers, you will play a key role in ensuring our community workshop thrives as a welcoming, organised and sustainable space.
The successful candidate will oversee the day-to-day running of the project, support and manage our volunteer team, and develop new systems and initiatives to support the organisation’s growth. SCBP is at a key moment of growth. Having taken on workshop premises in September 2024, we are now working to increase the number of sessions that we run, streamline our volunteer and participant experience, and expand the breadth of provision that we offer. At the same time, as a grassroots charity, central to our ethos is nurturing a sense of community ownership and collaboration. We aim to make the project a friendly, welcoming place to volunteer for people of all backgrounds and experiences. Another key part of our culture is our “hands-on-tools approach”: participants are encouraged to do cycle maintenance themselves with help from our volunteers.

Key responsibilities
* Programme design, delivery and growth: You ensure the successful delivery of programmes, monitor and report on impact, oversee the budget and ensure compliance with safeguarding, data protection and charity regulations. You will support the growth of programmes by creating, developing and writing proposals, and travel throughout the UK to support project delivery.
* Partnership development: You will scope, develop and secure partnerships across sectors, building and maintaining strong relationships with funders, partners, schools and charities across the UK and support the organisation of fundraising events, campaigns and other fundraising activities.
* Line management: You will line manage the programmes team (x 2 posts), supporting professional development, conducting performance reviews, and promoting strong team moral and wellbeing.
* Operations and strategy: You will support reporting to United Way UK Board of Trustees, United Way Worldwide and UK regulators, as well as work closely with the CEO on strategic planning and implementation.
What we're looking for
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following essential skills and experience:
* Experience in programme management, stakeholder engagement and partnership building, with strong relationship skills combined and a natural ability to cultivate positive relationships with internal stakeholders, charity partners, prospects, funders, corporates, volunteers and internal partners
* Strong project management skills with ability to manage diverse tasks and priorities with attention to detail and accuracy.
* Experience of monitoring and evaluation to collect feedback from stakeholders and continually improve and learn from programmes and report to funders.
* Solid communication skills, in both written and oral English, with the ability to present to stakeholders and write compelling project proposals.
* Experience working in the charity sector or within corporate social responsibility.
* Experience managing staff, including supporting professional development, conducting performance reviews, and promoting strong team moral and wellbeing.
* Experience in volunteering, either working with, or leading volunteer programmes, or being a volunteer.
* Experience either leading or supporting proposal writing for programme delivery.
* Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.

As UWUK is a small organisation, the ideal successful candidate may also have fundraising experience although this is not essential.
The UWUK team are passionate about their mission and delivering results and have a caring, trusting, collaborative and close-knit culture, based on shared values and respect. This role is home-based, but you will be able to travel regularly across the UK, at least 2-3 times a month and be willing and able to easily attend meetings in London on a regular basis. Travel is covered but you will need to be able to be based with easy access to a major transport hub.

The Project Manager will work closely with Moving Medicine clinicians, healthcare partners, stakeholders, and academic collaborators. A key aspect of this role will be to coordinate stakeholder engagement, facilitate collaborative input from academic and clinical experts, and support the demonstration of social impact through evaluation and dissemination activities. The successful candidate will be instrumental in aligning the project with strategic goals, ensuring timely delivery, and maintaining strong relationships.
The other project, Moving Together, is a national collaborative initiative led by the FSEM in partnership with Active Partnerships National Office and funded by Sport England (National Lottery). The project is building a broad cross-sector network and aims to empower people with long-term health conditions to access physical activity by removing barriers, developing evidence-based frameworks, training resources, and governance structures that enable consistent, safe, and effective physical activity conversations across sectors and systems. Working closely with clinicians, patients, policymakers, and professional bodies, Moving Together connects national standards with local implementation, supporting workforce development, data-driven evaluation, and sustainable behaviour change to improve population health and reduce inequalities.
The Project Manager will split their time across both projects, which are closely connected in their goals and approach, and will play a key role in ensuring alignment and synergy between them. This includes supporting shared stakeholders, integrating learning and resources, and contributing to a unified strategy for improving physical activity access and outcomes for patients.
