The Communications department at Alzheimer’s Research UK informs, inspires and engages the public about dementia and the progress being made in research. This role sits within the Campaigns & Projects team, one of several specialist teams in the wider department.

The Communications and Content Officer will play a vital role in shaping and growing strategically important communications projects that aim to build understanding of dementia and support for research.

They will be responsible for maximising the impact of Alzheimer’s Research UK’s external news content and other digital comms activity to engage existing supporters and attract new ones. They will also assist managers across the Communications department in measuring the impact of communications activities.

We’re looking for someone who’s passionate about driving the conversation on dementia forwards by creating engaging and exciting content across a range of channels.

Main duties and responsibilities of the role:

Work with the Communications Manager – Campaigns & Projects on the planning and delivery of high-profile, cross-channel campaigns that cut across the organisation. 

· Writing engaging content across a broad range of channels, from social media posts to newsletters and reports.

· Working closely with colleagues in the Digital and Design teams to plan and manage multi-channel campaigns, with a particular focus on paid social media activity.

· Monitoring and reporting on campaign performance to internal teams and external stakeholders and partners.

· Monitoring relevant media coverage to identify stories and developments that could impact upon or provide opportunities for campaigns and projects.

Act as a central point of contact, coordinating the department’s input into key supporter-facing communications.

· Sourcing content and maintaining the department’s content calendar.

· Reviewing and editing content from teams across the charity, ensuring accuracy and consistency in language and key messages.

· Working with other teams to plan and schedule content, then evaluating its performance and reporting back to the wider Communications department. 

Manage and develop Alzheimer’s Research UK website’s news content, aiming to maximise engagement.

· Working with the wider Communications department to maintain a content calendar for the website’s news section.

· Creating and commissioning engaging digital content on a range of topics aligned with the charity’s organisational strategy.

· Working closely with internal teams and external agencies on technical web development projects.

· Acting as a guardian of the charity’s brand language and key messages.

· Using data to continually develop and improve content performance and engagement rates.

What we are looking for:

· A skilled writer and editor with both meticulous attention to detail and creative flair.

· Experience in distilling complex information into plain English.

· An understanding of and aptitude for digital copywriting.

· An understanding of how to adapt content for different audiences and channels.

· An understanding of how to evaluate the performance of content using data, including knowledge of analytics tools.

· Experience working in a communications role.

· Experience of writing and collating compelling content across a variety of channels.

· Excellent planning and organisation skills with the ability to prioritise and effectively manage multiple tasks and work to deadlines.

· Ability to build and manage strong relationships with colleagues of all levels and a variety of external partners.

· Enthusiasm for learning about and keeping up to date with developments in digital communications.

· A hard-working team player, with ability to use initiative.

Additional Information:

Ways of working: As part of our Agile ways of working you will be required to work approximately 2 days a week from the office, which is subject to the requirements of the role and the business needs. Flexibility on where you work can be split between working from home and our office.

Fine Cell Work are looking for an exceptionally supportive and non-judgemental individual to act as the first point of contact and underpin all aspects of Fine Cell Work's post-prison programme, Open The Gate (OTG). 

Beyond skills for employment, OTG offers a range of support to prison-leavers, who we refer to as Apprentices. The Engagement Support Officer will be responsible for establishing sustainable referral pathways with external partners, recruiting OTG Apprentices in line with organisational strategy, and preparing individual risk assessments and tailored support plans. They will also be responsible for the development of OTG’s remote support scheme and for supporting volunteer employment mentors alongside the Volunteer and Programmes Manager.

Our purpose

Fine Cell Work is a rehabilitation charity and social enterprise that teaches prisoners and prison-leavers to make beautiful handmade products.  The making and selling of high quality needlework boosts their self-worth, instils self-discipline and fosters hope.  Our aim is for our stitchers to finish their sentences with work skills, money earned and saved, and the self-belief to not re-offend.  We also guide them towards training and support on release.  At the Fine Cell Work Hub in Battersea, we run our Open the Gate programme which provides work experience, formal training and employment to prison-leavers. 

The role

As well as offering person-centred support and helping to shape our post-release programmes, you would be responsible for:

• Presenting and promoting Open the Gate among external partners including HMP resettlement teams, probation services, approved premises and other organisations supporting prison-leavers on their resettlement journey.
• Assisting with the development of risk management plans including information gathering, dissemination, and regular review.
• Providing day to day practical, emotional, and sign-posting support to a caseload of adult Apprentices engaging with Open the Gate and providing ad hoc support to past Apprentices when required.
• Action planning and setting out individual objectives with all Apprentices, supporting them to achieve work-ready outcomes in an agreed period.
• Working with the team to research and liaise with offender support and employment agencies beyond FCW, signposting Apprentices and supporting mentors with appropriate signposting and referrals to partner agencies.
• Working with the wider team at FCW to develop and coordinate a series of employability and creative wellbeing workshops for Apprentices.
• Ensuring timely, accurate, and safe recording of all information and personal data.
• Responding to safeguarding concerns in line with FCW policy and procedure.
• Providing remote support via telephone and online to FCW experienced prison-leavers who do not live in London and the Southeast.
• Supporting the Volunteer and Programmes Manager with delivering the Service User Involvement Strategy and championing service user involvement across the organisation more broadly.
• Supporting the Volunteer and Programmes Manager to recruit and deliver training to mentors and other volunteers in roles supporting OTG Apprentices.
• Working with the Volunteer and Programmes Manager to develop and enhance the OTG Mentor Offer including as the first point of contact for Mentors pre- and post- mentoring sessions.

• Leading the welfare advice services, including contributing to possible future expansion.
• Maintaining a small personal caseload (approximately one day’s work per week).
• Working with the Operations Manager to ensure that BIAS maintains the Advice Quality Standard (AQS) and is successful in AQS renewal.
• Leading on monitoring service delivery, recording outcomes and ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
• Managing all aspects of risk relating to advice delivery, complaints handling, safeguarding and GDPR.

Operational support

• Working with the leadership team as required on operational matters, including planning, strategy for future development and grant applications and reporting.

Job Purpose:

Reporting to the Board of Trustees, provide leadership of the charity (which is also a company limited by guarantee) by directing and structuring the work of the wider staff and volunteer team. Principal Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Overall Management

· Together with the Trustees/Directors, develop and agree the strategic plan, operational plan, vision, mission and values.

· Lead the organisation and ensure it meets its legal and social obligations and the challenges of financial sustainability.

· Ensure compliance with regulatory bodies, including the Charity Commission, Companies House, and Health and Safety Executive, as well as with quality standards and with contract/grant monitoring requirements.

Governance

The Supported Accommodation Kickstart Futures service. currently supports young people across the London Boroughs of Sutton and Croydon, who are living either in specified semi-independent properties or elsewhere in the community.

Location of the post:

 You will be community based, so you would be expected to support and travel where the young people live covering Croydon and Sutton.

Full time – 37 hours.

The Ideal candidate will need:

• Experience of working with looked after children / care leavers and understanding of the accommodation needs of care leavers.
• Knowledge and understanding of the specific needs of young people leaving the care system.
• Ability to listen to and communicate effectively with children and young people.
• Knowledge/understanding of the needs of Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking children and young people.

• The delivery of 1:1 keywork support to care leavers that meets their individual needs. Frequency of key work will be dependent on the support package of each young person.

• Assessing young people's needs and agreeing a support plan for each young person in partnership with the Personal Advisor. Each plan will have clear milestones and outcomes to be.
• Taking appropriate referrals for the service.
• Producing quarterly monitoring reports and attending quarterly contract meetings as part of the quality assurance framework.

History of Service:

The Kickstart Futures service has been established to provide support to Unaccompanied Asylum Seekers and young people who have been trafficked, aged 18-25. We also support care leavers who are not from a forced migration background. The service launched in June 2020, initially supporting young people living in 1 semi-independent property in Sutton. We are currently providing support in 6 semi-independent properties in Sutton and Croydon, as well as within different community settings. We expect this service to continue to grow, and to provide support across an increasing number of properties.

Job Title:  Training Lead: Parents and Volunteers

Hours:         2.5 days a week

We are seeking a motivated, compassionate and engaging training lead for our parent and volunteer training programs. The training lead for parents and volunteers will lead on the design, development and delivery of a program of training support for parents impacted by Child Sexual Abuse and will support with the delivery of the training for new We Stand volunteers.

Role Description 

To plan, develop and deliver parent training and workshops for protective parents and carers whose

children have been sexually abused; to support parents and carers to understand and process the impacts of child sexual abuse and learn strategies for supporting their children after abuse together with those who share similar experiences. To work collaboratively with We Stand colleagues, to provide support that is accessible, appropriate, timely and tailored to suit the needs of individual clients.

To contribute to the recruitment and selection of We Stand volunteers including student therapists on placement and helpline volunteers. To lead on the delivery of induction and training for all new volunteers and ensure that they are adequately prepared and supported to begin their placement with We Stand.

Parent Training: 

Parent training and workshops are designed to support parents following a disclosure of CSA. The training focuses on providing parents and carers with the useful information and strategies they need to manage and support their child or young person’s journey of recovery. Via 1:1 or group sessions, parents gain the knowledge they need to help them support their child and regain confidence in themselves.

Volunteer Training 

We Stand relies on a team of dedicated and skilled volunteers to help us deliver life-changing support to families impacted by child sexual abuse. Purpose and Scope of the Role

To enable and empower newly arrived often vulnerable refugees to settle into their new communities with confidence. 

Postholders will work closely with the volunteers, bank staff and Project Coordinators to provide a wraparound service to our clients across the region. Key elements of the service will include support with welfare benefits/income maximisation, immigration, housing, health, education and employment.

There will be a requirement to record and document contact using online systems, ensuring an evidence-based practice model of working and seamless support delivery for our clients. 

Main duties and responsibilities 

Manage a caseload of clients/households:

· Provide initial reception and orientation at client’s homes and within their local community settings 

· Carry out a holistic needs assessment and prepare a Personal Integration Plan with every household on a quarterly basis, preferably in the clients homes.

· Negotiate specialist intervention with external agencies as appropriate according to the client’s needs. 

· To be the lead contact for all agencies and responsible for coordinating support for your key clients.

· To work with families in a variety of locations such as within their home, RMC premises, on outreach and via digital means.

· To jointly agree a plan leading to beneficiary independence and service exit as per project requirements

· Where possible deliver the service in a community language

· To deliver a comprehensive action plan for welcoming the refugees from preparation prior to arrival and support for the first year. This includes but is not limited to: 

· Housing situation and housing/tenancy related goals and checking suitability of accommodation with relevant hosts, landlords and/or any other housing partners.  

Welcoming families upon arrival

· Registering with GP’s, dentists and opticians; attending medical assessments and appointments; securing appropriate specialist medical care and liaising with different health services; 

· Working with Social Services to ensure all special needs are addressed; 

· Registering for Biometric Residence Cards and ensuring that immigration paperwork is correct and any errors or discrepancies are reported to the relevant Home Office department by an OISC qualified adviser from the wider team.

· Ensure the Home Office is notified if BRP cards are not issued within the timescales set out by Home Office service standards.

· Ensure that all newly arrived are given immigration advice as required by referring them to an OISC qualified advisor within RMC.

· Ensure that every newly arrived adult above the age of 18 has access to their own bank account.

· Ensuring that refugees understand their financial rights and responsibilities

· Complete a full Entitled To calculation with all newly arrived households and apply for relevant welfare benefit provisions from DWP and HMRC.

· Support refugees with mandatory reconsiderations as required.

· Support with access to individual grants if required.

· Providing on-going orientation to the UK – information, classes, workshops and visits by key statutory services; 

· Registering and supporting children with local schools; 

· Facilitating access to ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) classes for all newly arrived adults; 

· Signposting and assisting in training, education and employment to ensure long term independence

· Refer into other provision as provided by third party organisations

· Organising trips and outings to places of interest and providing opportunities for social interaction and accompany refugees if required as per ongoing Personal Integration Plan and risk assessment.

· To provide client centric support around all areas of need including housing, welfare, employment, substance misuse, family reunion and social engagement.

· To ensure that this work has a focus on fostering the independence of the clients and has respect for the culture, personal history and situation of all its users. 

· To promote the long-term integration of refugees and the development of refugee communities by providing a range of tailored services to them and through working with other service providers to maximise opportunities for refugees. 

· To work with clients to facilitate their access and engagement with mainstream statutory and voluntary sector services. 

· To ensure that this work is carried out in accordance with RMC’s values, principles, policies and procedures, specifically those around equal opportunity, confidentiality, impartiality and non-directive advice.
