Service Manager

The Role

As a Project Lead for the ASB team you will be:

• Managing a small team of ASB caseworkers including performance management, monitoring and support
• Responsible for allocating cases within the team and analysing statistics and data in order to monitor daily caseloads against resources and look for trends/ pattern of behaviour
• Working with the Operations Manager to ensure delivery of the business plan and associated outcomes
• Responsible for capturing data and information to ensure the work of the team is outcome based and evidenced
• The subject matter expert for ASB within the service
• With key partners, developing mechanisms for identifying and referring those affected by ongoing and persistent ASB incidents and crimes, including those not engaged in criminal or civil law processes
• Completing DSO training to prioritise the safety of service users and ensure compliance with safeguarding policy
• Leading on delivery of training to local agencies, organisations and bodies to represent the service and increase knowledge and understanding of issues related to the ASB
• Contributing to and attending monitoring meetings with funders/commissioners and providing reporting when required
• Playing a lead role in developing VS’s ASB work at both local and national levels
• When the service requires, holding a small caseload providing high quality support to service users in line with VS policies and operating procedures.

The role is home-based within Devon and Cornwall and therefore is open to applicants who both live in this area and have access to an appropriately confidential space in which to work.  Regular travel within working hours will be expected across Devon and Cornwall to fulfil the role and travel expenses are paid.  Core service hours are between 9am – 5pm, with the expectation to flex to need where required, managed within flexible working arrangements.

The Research Initiatives Manager is a crucial role at the College, as you will work closely with senior clinicians to lead a series of projects and activities to feed into the development and delivery of child-health research initiatives. The initiatives include research awards, research events and research capacity and capability building, by embedding academic skills into the paediatric workforce and enabling academic research.

As Research Initiatives Manager, you will also lead on the RCPCH Genomics Programme which aims to develop and deliver a series of resources and activities related to the integration of genomics services into mainstream paediatrics. 

Based within the Research and Evidence team, you will be the operational lead for relevant Committees and working groups, acting as a representative of the College to represent the views of paediatricians, whilst ensuring timely reporting of progress to Project Boards.

You will also build and develop relationships with external stakeholders and work with the Head of Grants and Partnerships to identify sources of funding to support future work within the Research and Evidence remit.

With a degree or equivalent experience with a research, health science, life sciences or genetics/genomics component, you should have a proven understanding of the national funding landscape and infrastructure for clinical research.

You should have experience of collaborative ways of working across multidisciplinary teams and programmes of work, along with demonstrable experience of producing high quality written reports, documentation and promotional information suitable for a range of audiences.

With excellent organisational skills and an ability to adopt an orderly and precise approach to work, paying careful attention to detail and the ability to follow standard procedures and ways of working, you should also have demonstrable programme management skills, and be capable of working autonomously and taking personal responsibility for your projects.

Knowledge of research methodology, including data analysis, along with a project management qualification and an understanding of genomic medicine would be desirable. • Young Professional Industry Engagement event programme - To plan, organise and deliver the annual three-week programme of CPD visits for a selected group of participants to industry hosts across the UK. Working with participants and over 20 organisations to schedule and deliver the programme.
• Furniture Making T-Level conference – Working with the Chair of the Education and Training Committee and selected members to plan, organise and implement a one-day conference on the practicalities of overing the Furniture T-Level in an educational setting.
• Organise and attend several regional career fairs and trade shows to promote the education and training initiatives and encourage young people to consider a career in furniture and furnishings.

Grants

• Administer the jobs board featured on the My Furniture Career website, screening and approving posted vacancies as well as liaising with those posting jobs to confirm the status of the vacancy, sharing data once the vacancy expires and collecting feedback data from the poster.
• To work with the Digital Officer to agree a schedule of content for the website and its associated social media.
• Work with the Communications Manager and Digital Officer to promote the use of the website by the targeted audience group as well as the HR community to post vacancies to the jobs board.
• Produce a quarterly report detailing the usage and any highlights regarding the website.
• Report any technical issues to the website provider and liaise with them to fix the issue.

Reporting

• Quarterly reporting on activity and budget to the Education and Training Committee.
• Supporting the Committee Chair by setting up Committee meetings and taking minutes.
• Supporting the Committee Chair with any other administration as necessary related to the Committee.

Miscellaneous

• Assisting the Education and Training Committee Chair with any administration in regard to the Masters Certificate Scheme.

We now regularly host between 60-70 people, including local asylum seekers, residents from St Vincents care home, all alongside our growing Stay and Play community of Mums and Toddlers who join the Cafe Concert.

Community Hub

The Community Hub was created in 2023 to support those who are experiencing loneliness. There is a hot meal provided, as well as kids activities and lots of space for conversation. There have been seven Community Hubs in 2023, with over 500 guests (including many asylum seekers based in local hotels) and a 30-person volunteer team. We have supported in a variety of ways, including writing references, providing clothes and most importantly, forming friendships with people. 

Love Christmas

In December 2023, we partnered with Love Christmas to pack and deliver more than 720 Bags of Kindness to our local community, with the help of 30 volunteers. The combination of donations raised from within our congregation, and match funding from Love Your Neighbour enabled us to show practical love and care to some of the most vulnerable in our local area. You will be responsible for overseeing and developing this project.

You will also helping to establish new initiatives as the need arises, in collaboration with the Senior Team. This might include a breakfast club for children at our local school, Kids Matter, and Recovery Groups/ courses that will have a missional outworking and community focus.

About the role

As Senior PR Manager, you will play a crucial role in raising the profile of Save the Children UK amongst key target audiences, by developing and delivering projects that command media attention and coverage. As a member of the PR, Artist & Broadcast team, you will be able to apply your experience working with the media to shape major fundraising and influencing campaigns and build our brand. Some stakeholders you will work with include high profile ambassadors, influencers, and partners. To be successful in this role you will lean on your excellent verbal and written communications skills and have a strong network of contacts to help share the work of Save the Children UK.

In this role, you will:

• Work closely with team members in other departments within Save the Children to provide excellent PR support for delivering Save the Children's objectives
• Develop and execute mass-market PR plans that amplify key strategic campaigns and initiatives across the calendar year, including brand, fundraising and advocacy priorities
• Identify and maximise opportunities to generate reactive media coverage, responding effectively to external events, news and the cultural conversation 
• Write, co-ordinate and issue media releases, statements, briefing materials and Q&As, including for high-profile spokespeople and corporate partners, if required 
• Develop and nurture close working relationships with journalists (especially those on features, women's, lifestyle, showbiz outlets) across print, digital and broadcast media - including a diverse range of outlets beyond mainstream media

About you

To be successful, it is important that you have:

• Significant operational experience in mass-market PR, as a print or broadcast journalist, or equivalent professional media communications experience
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and external contacts across diverse cultures, disciplines and time zones
• Solid experience developing and implementing PR campaigns for corporate clients, including cause-related events, co-branded marketing activity, global campaigns
• Excellent working knowledge of the media landscape – including national broadcast and press, women's, showbiz, tabloid and digital media – with a network of journalistic contacts.

Overview

Southwark Cathedral has been a place of Christian worship for over 1400 years. Now it stands on the vibrant and exciting regenerated south bank of the Thames surrounded by cultural venues such as Tate Modern, Shakespeare’s Globe and Borough Market, the offices of major companies as well as schools and diverse residential communities. It also relies on the valuable financial contribution made by its income generating activities such as its shop, café, conference rooms, corporate events and concerts. It is a very busy place, attracting 200,000 visitors a year to the Cathedral, its churchyard, shop and café. The Cathedral relies on a small but dedicated team to be inclusive and welcoming to all.

Role Purpose

This is a senior support post of essential development importance to allow the Dean, Chief Operating Officer, Chapter and committees to develop and maintain an effective system of governance for the Cathedral with adherence to the highest standards of good governance practice. This will include relevant regulatory and legislative requirements. The post holder will provide comprehensive and effective secretariat support for Chapter and its statutory committees.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Governance administration

• Assist in the production and submission of a range of information required in order to demonstrate compliance;
• Liaise with external legal advisors as required;
• Assist the COO with returns, reports and filings for statutory bodies including the Charity Commission, Church Commissioners, Information Commissioner’s Office, HSE and Companies House;
• Act as the Whistleblowing Officer and assist in the working of the Whistleblowing Policy;
• Assist with the completion of questionnaires and reports for the Cathedral’s insurers, Association of English Cathedrals etc;
• Maintain the declarations of interest and gift registry records for senior staff and committee members and record in the minutes when committee members are conflicted out or need to declare an interest;
• Assist the COO in keeping a log of complaints under the Complaints Policy adopted under the Cathedrals Measure and help to ensure that complaints are dealt with according to the policy;
• Provide such other support at the COO reasonably requires including correspondence, research and diary management.

Committees administration

• Lead the co-ordination, preparation, planning and follow-up for meetings and other committee work associated with the governance of the Cathedral. This will include issuing invitations, booking rooms, issuing Zoom invitations, arranging refreshments and access needs, assisting in the drafting of agendas, gathering and circulating supporting papers for the meetings, attending meetings, taking confidential minutes, circulating and amending minutes and maintaining action trackers for the members of the following committees: Chapter, Finance Committee, Audit & Risk Committtee;
• Assist in the work of the Nominations Committee to recruit members for the new committees;
• Assist in the work of the Standing Committee as it prepares for Chapter meetings;
• Assist the Dean and COO in their governance responsibilities under the Care of Cathedrals Measure 2021, including being the point of contact with the Fabric Advisory Committee and liaising with its Chair and Secretary;
• Liaise with committee members and maintain good relationships;
• Liaise with professional advisers where appropriate and in consultation with the COO;
• Assist in the scheduling of training and circulation of information and papers for Chapter and committee members as required. 

Safeguarding administration

The Cathedral follows the safeguarding best practice and guidance set out in the Diocesan policy “A Safe Church” and also follows the policies and guidance set out by the National Safeguarding Team.

Reporting to the Cathedral Safeguarding Lead (CSL), the post-holder will:

• Assist the CSL in ensuring that safer recruitment practice is observed in all recruitment;
• Undertake the DBS checks for staff and volunteers if required, including verifying identity, submitting the applications and reporting to the candidate’s line manager/team leader when the checks have been completed. This will include advising colleagues as to which checks are appropriate and liaising with the Diocesan Safeguarding team and Volunteers & Community Officer;
• Maintain accurate records of all DBS checks carried out in a central register;
• Arrange for all new staff (paid and volunteer) to attend safeguarding training and arrange follow-up training for existing staff (every 3 years). This will include ascertaining which levels of training are required and which individuals will also need specific additional training for their roles;
• Liaise with the trainers to identify training sessions, book rooms and catering and arrange room set-up;
• Maintain accurate records of all safeguarding training carried out in a central register;
• Report to Chapter when required.

Additional responsibilities

• Support the COO in the coordination of risk management across the organisation;
• Arrange and manage the Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM) and parish clerking duties;
• Ensure timely publication of statutory notices in advance of the annual APCM;
• Assist the COO with returns, reports and filings for the Parish;
• Support data protection compliance across the organisation;
• Ensure that the highest standards of professional performance are maintained;

Location: The post holder will have a normal place of work in Hampton Hill, London Borough of Richmond upon Thames and will be required to travel throughout the borough to support our other offices and outreach venues.

Citizens Advice Richmond (CAR) is a thriving advice organisation that is part of the national Citizens Advice network. We provide information, advice and casework support to around 5,000 people a year. Our services are delivered by a team of around 17 paid staff and 75 volunteers. We have a typical annual turnover of £700,000 and in addition to our core advice service, funded by Richmond Council, we have a range of projects funded by other charities.

We are seeking candidates with experience in managing the development,  production and delivery of web content and digital products, including e-learning resources, videos, podcasts, and images, for a high traffic and information rich website.

The Meridian One Community Garden serves as a space where we focus on cultivating fruit, salad, and vegetable produce. We involve the local community by hosting weekly volunteer gardening sessions, welcoming school visits, and organising various community events.

TCV is seeking a Senior Project Officer with expertise in community engagement, event coordination, and managing community facilities. The garden, which was established one year ago, encompasses facilities such as an office, a community meeting/education room, toilets, and a spacious polytunnel.

The Senior Project Officer will oversee a range of tasks including planning and executing community events, maintaining site Health & Safety, leading volunteers in practical projects like building wooden planters, tending to garden plants, and ensuring timely completion of administrative duties such as procurement, risk assessments, social media updates, and task reporting. They will also lead activities for the under 5’s Nature Explorers group, school visits, themed evening events, and family weekends. Additionally, they'll organise corporate volunteering sessions and cover holiday shifts for the Green Gym gardening program. Previous events have included 'Pampering and Enrichment,' 'Repurpose, Recycle, Reinvent' workshops, and a Black Women in Conservation and Horticulture photo exhibition, as well as our weekend family events featuring free food, music, and arts and crafts activities.

This role involves being friendly and open to various people who visit, from the toddlers attending the Nature Explorers club, to our volunteer gardeners, to senior staff from the local authority. There are two other people working part-time at the garden, and TCV provides thorough training and support from a helpful local team.

Ideally, we’re looking for someone with experience of gardening and/or nature conservation. However, what’s equally important is that the Senior Project Officer has initiative, is welcoming, and comfortable working with a wide range people. We’d therefore welcome applications from candidates who can display those personable qualities, with perhaps experience of working in a community centre setting.

In Spring 2024, TCV will be taking on the management of an additional nearby meanwhile space. The new Senior Project Officer will join us at an exciting time when we begin to turn that space into a new community tree nursery. Working with local people to gather seeds from significant trees in the surrounding area, we aim to grow saplings which will go on to be distributed for planting around London.

Working hours are 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. Given the nature of the role the Senior Project Officer will need to work from the garden during these times. Occasionally, to avoid lone working in the absence of another colleague, there will be the opportunity to work from home. Weekend family events take place on Saturdays, four times a year and there are approximately six evening events which take place between April to September. This post holder would be expected to attend those evening and weekend events.
