This role is essential in enhancing the visibility and impact of our charity's vital work. You will do this through effective communication outputs, with a focus on digital, and well-organised virtual, regional and national events.

The Communications and Events Manager will lead on overall execution of TSA communications and events, working closely with the Joint Chief Executive. The role is one of the most front-facing and proactive offered at the TSA.

Key responsibilities

Communications

• Lead in the development of communication outputs across all aspects of the TSA’s work in support and information, research, fundraising and campaigning. This will include a major focus on filmed media and editing of short clips as well as building a library of case studies
• Lead in the development of an effective internal and external communications strategy. The strategy should provide direction on how communications pieces are created internally, as well as how communications are presented to different audiences
• Lead in ongoing content development for the TSA’s daily activities. This includes managing content creation for the website, social media platforms and monthly e-newsletter
• Have a major role in development of Scan, our twice-yearly physical magazine
• Develop excellent relationships with key internal stakeholders at all levels by providing direction and support for all TSA teams in their communications needs, such as reviewing and editing fundraising and research materials
• Proactively identify and fulfil opportunities to raise awareness of TSC in the broader media, such as newspapers and other media

Events

• Manage and oversee all aspects of TSA face-to-face events. Our events include the annual community event ‘Big Day’, and our annual event for adults mildly affected by TSC (called ‘Outlook’)
• Manage and oversee our range of monthly virtual events. Including bookings, forward planning and ongoing calendar management of future events and speakers
• Maintain calendar(s) of internal and external events
• Ensure risk assessments and safeguarding policies are applied appropriately

Strategic support

• Provide support into the overall communications and events strategy of the charity, including annual implementation plans
• Proactively and regularly review the impact and success of communications and events, by providing a range of opportunities for attendees and other TSC audiences to provide feedback and input into these areas

Community engagement and management

• Help to develop, and then implement and support, comprehensive community engagement
• Proactively and regularly review the impact and success of communications and events, by providing a range of opportunities for attendees and other TSC audiences to provide feedback and input into these areas
• Be confident in updating and using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems to update community information

Other requirements

The post holder must be prepared to work flexibly to meet the needs of the organisation.  This may entail occasional evening and weekend work. Occasional travel within the UK may be required for team meetings and events.

Person specification

Essential

• 2-3 years’ experience in similar or equitable roles
• Proven background in managing and leading on events of all sizes, from very small (several attendees) to large (150+ attendees)
• Demonstrable experience in social media management and digital communications
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a keen eye for detail
• Confident in working independently and on your own initiative, as well as being very open to helping and working with others
• Confident in graphic design and editing (we currently use Canva for all materials)
• Experience of working with CRM databases (please note that we use Beacon)

The Sociological Review Foundation is seeking its first Development Manager to join its team. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Donor Engagement UK, the Development Officer’s role is to provide back-end support to the UK fundraisers supporting the moves management process and smooth running of the virtual office, ensuring compliance with UK laws. The position will manage all elements of the virtual office, administration and reporting and support the team in managing portfolios of donors and prospects targeting mid-level and high net worth individuals, corporates and foundations.  

Key Responsibilities

Administration

• Manages virtual offices and membership programme payment processing in collaboration with our data services team based in the US.

Donor Information Management

• Oversees RE records for UK donors and prospects, making sure mailing lists are correct and can easily be drawn down for communications, maintaining accurate records of all donor interactions, individuals’ programmatic interests, trends in giving, and type of support to solicit.
• Works with Data Services and the UK team to review portfolios and make sure amendments are made on Raiser Edge ( RE).

Content Development and Communications

• Manages regular mailings to target audiences, as well as invitations to organisational wide donor engagement activities.
• Sends donor acknowledgements by email and phone calls (for smaller gifts).

Requirements and Skills

• Knowledge of the UK fundraising market, UK data protection guidelines and best practice and experience of working within these guidelines.

What experience and track record do you have?

• Proven experience across CRM, databases, community/content platforms, newsletter distribution, integration and automation tools. This could be from previous roles such as data analytics, community building, digital marketing or business transformation.

• Comfortable with principles of coding in Python but no need to be a pro.

• Strong understanding of data management and GDPR requirements.

• Led digital transformation/change projects, with a strong approach to project management and stakeholder engagement.

• Designed and delivered training, and/or produced clear and concise written user guides, taking time to understand the needs and starting points of the team.

• Experience with management, analysis and visualisation of large-scale data sets - ideally in educational outcomes/performance.

• Experience of the realities of working for an early-stage organisation without a big team or huge budget. We are especially interested in those who have grown a tech team/function from the ground up.

The Fundraising Director will work to the Chief Executive and in collaboration with the Executive Management Team, Senior Leadership Teams and wider Board and stakeholder groups. The role will be responsible for developing and leading the Trust’s Fundraising and Communication Strategies to enable and deliver significant growth in the Supporter base, Income Generation and Brand positioning of a national charity providing Learning Disability and Mental Health Services in a Green Care Context.
The successful candidate will be joining a charity with a strong history and reputation for donor-centric (friends) fundraising, currently raising over £5m per year and a huge potential to unlock stewardship, potential and growth.

The Trust is seeking an inspiring and ambitious professional with a proven track record in senior-level fundraising and the skills, passion and experience to lead the Trust into a position which results in voluntary income moving from £5M to £10M through delivery of step change strategies for Voluntary Income Generation and Communication. Candidates must be collaborative leaders with proven experience of leading and managing multi-disciplinary fundraising teams and in transformation and change. They will also have experience in influencing policy and decision making (governance) at a range of levels, as will be a strong networker and public speaker used to driving networking opportunities that evidence outcomes and impact.

Your key responsibilities will be flexible. You’ll manage your workload and set objectives, priorities and deadlines with the Head of Fundraising. Your work will include: 

• Partnerships Fundraising: You’ll lead and grow our partnerships fundraising portfolio by nurturing existing relationships and identifying new prospective partnerships. You will prepare proposals, pitches, and reports based on key funding needs, and implement stewardship plans to retain support, maximising partnership value. 

• Community Fundraising: You’ll manage community-based fundraising efforts, including coordinating with other organisations. Develop new community fundraising initiatives and engage volunteers, working to maintain an established network of volunteers which support community fundraising activities.

• Events Fundraising: You will manage our fundraising events, including the London Marathon. This will include recruitment, resourcing, relationship-building and supporting our event participants in their fundraising efforts. We are also excited for you to develop and oversee other innovative and profitable one-off events. 

• Fundraising Management: You will monitor and report on fundraising activities, manage relevant website pages, and ensure effective administration and record-keeping. You’ll need to stay abreast of industry trends and react accordingly to maximize opportunities.

Purpose of the job/about the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Community Fundraising Team at Dementia UK, where you will help deliver our community strategy developing new opportunities and relationships with local groups and organisations.

As an experienced and dedicated Regional Fundraiser you will deliver excellent stewardship support, proactively managing and motivating volunteers to undertake fundraising and awareness activities, ensuring a sustainable, long-term revenue stream for Dementia UK.

Collaborating closely with both the Regional Fundraising team and the broader Community and Events team, you will champion our products engaging supports in challenge events, and campaigns across the region. Your expertise and insights will be instrumental in identifying new opportunities, nurturing supporter relationships and creating stewardship journeys aimed at increasing the average gift and lifetime support across the Northeast, East Midlands, and East Anglia.

To be successful in the role, you will have a background in community fundraising or experience of working in relationship management or new business in a similar setting. You will have understanding of community fundraising across both relationship management and new business development with proven success of building and sustaining stakeholder relationships. Additionally, previous experience in planning and delivering projects as well as with a history of delivering impactful presentations, will be beneficial.
