Given the changing external funding environment and evolving context in the UK, we are looking for an individual who is willing to be flexible and adapt to the context in order to meet the organisation’s needs and have the biggest impact for people with disabilities.
The main purpose of this post is:
· Improving our track record for UK and other funding by increasing internal understanding of donors and funding mechanisms in your portfolio, supporting high quality submissions, grant management and donor compliance

· Work with country programmes to develop country-level action plans to engage with local representatives of UK donors and partners, in order to strengthen in-country relationships, influence donors’ country-level plans and access in-country funding opportunities. This will also involve supporting the development of multi-year operational plans and advise on the funding possibilities offered by UK institutional donors.
· Anticipate future trends and the expectations of the donors and funding mechanisms in your portfolio, influence their policies and strategies, and negotiate and consult with them on institutional funding matters, in liaison with the appropriate colleagues from the UK team and federal network.
· In coordination with the Head of Institutional Relations and the Chief Executive, monitor and where needed, contribute to collective work and advocacy initiatives in collaboration with partners and INGO networks (such as the Start Network and targeted Bond groups) with the aim of raising HI’s profile and influencing UK donors in line with our influencing priorities.
Generate and manage institutional funding from UK donors
You will follow and champion HI’s internal institutional funding procedures to identify and analyse funding opportunities from UK sources, contribute to project submissions, and carry out grant management duties. You will:
· Monitor, identify, analyse and communicate all relevant funding opportunities from donors in your portfolio (including development and humanitarian grant opportunities and commercial contracts). · Maintain a positive and collaborative working relationship with HI UK colleagues and the Federal Institutional Funding, and Operations teams.
· Actively contribute to the HI UK operational plan and team work plans, and internal staff meetings.
· Ensure high quality, accurate internal reporting and information management for your portfolio.
· Keep abreast of developments within the sector by liaising with counterparts in other NGOs, and relevant networks.
· Represent HI UK at external forums and meetings when relevant.
· Any other activities commensurate with the level of the post, as may be required by the Chief Executive or Head of Team.
Equal opportunities policy
HI UK is committed to diversity and inclusion. We recognise that discrimination shapes the opportunities that many people have in society and that people have different needs in order to realise their full potential. Addressing this requires organisations to be proactive in creating environments that encourage the inclusion and development of all. Though we still have a long way to go, inclusion is central to our identity at HI UK and we are strongly committed to the continuous work that it requires.
We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates with disabilities and/or from Black and minority ethnic backgrounds, to help make us more representative. If you have a disability and meet the minimum requirements for the role, we will guarantee you an interview.

The YAT Resilience Programme works to the same outcomes through a year long programme of monthly activities, home-based challenges and reflective practice. Our Mentoring Programme works with those young people in need of some additional individualised support at the end of our other programmes. The Trust’s Bursary Programme is open to all those young people who have completed an initial programme, in order to assist their next steps into further activities. Our aim is to make a lasting improvement to the lives of vulnerable young people. All our services are provided completely free of charge to the young people who are nominated by schools and other youth organisations to take part.
The Role
We are looking for an experienced, dynamic and motivated Adventure Programme Support Manager to support both young people and volunteers on our Adventure Programme. Working alongside the Programme Managers you will act in a support function across the activity days and camps, and be involved in direct one to one support for young people. You will also work alongside the Volunteering Lead to recruit, manage and support the volunteers who are front and centre of ensuring our young people’s positive experiences and outcomes. -
Supporting work with our referral partners to ensure they have an excellent understanding, relationship and experience with the Youth Adventure Trust.
-
Contributing to ongoing feedback to young people, parents, carers and schools.
-
Supporting the effective monitoring of the programme and measurement of young people’s developmental outcomes.
-
Working with the Programme Managers to support young people moving on to the Mentoring Programme, and promoting take up of the Bursary Programme.
-
Supporting the development of further opportunities for young people both during and after their YAT journey.
-
Assisting the day-to-day administration and management of the programme. This may include maintaining a database, producing written communications and reports, information leaflets, website updates, budget monitoring, booking and negotiating with providers, and an array of detailed record keeping.
-
Creating website and social media content to highlight and promote YAT’s work.
Volunteer Management
Volunteers are critical to the success of our programme for vulnerable young people; recruiting, supporting and developing capable, skilled, empathetic, engaging and committed volunteers is essential to the impact of our work.
This aspect of the role includes;
-
Promoting volunteering opportunities and recruiting new volunteers to the organisation to ensure needs are met.
-
Acting as a key point of contact for volunteers, maintaining communication and engagement with the charity.
-
Administering all aspects of a volunteer’s involvement with the Trust, including completing the relevant checks and references, record keeping and database maintenance.
-

Parentkind is a national federated charity that aims to advance education by encouraging the fullest cooperation between home and school, education authorities, central government and all other interested parties and bodies. We are proud to be the leading membership organisation for parent teacher associations in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Parentkind seeks to represent all these parent groups as they strive to help every child in their school and we support our 12,500 members to raise £122m annually.
As well as helping parent groups on the ground, we provide resources to support parent participation in education at school and home so that every child can thrive and reach their potential. Ultimately, we want more parents to be empowered to be involved and engaged in their child’s education. The evidence is clear that parental participation in education benefits children in schools and society and increases the opportunities for social mobility for our younger generations.
We are working towards a future where this is considered an essential ingredient in the success of our children’s education by society, schools and parents themselves by:
- Engaging and inspiring individual parents
- Supporting our PTA and other member associations and growing the number if PTAs across the UK
- Helping schools be parent-friendly through guidance and training
- Working with partners
- Championing the role of those with parental responsibility in their child’s education through our research and by influencing education sector interests and policymakers.
The charity's impact is significant, and our work ensures that parent and carer voices are heard at a local, regional, and national level.
