Our specific contribution brings together people experiencing poverty with those with responsibilities for alleviating it. “Nothing About Us Without Us Is For Us.” 

Thanks to funding from the National Lottery Community Fund, we are recruiting for a Communications Officer who will coordinate our internal, Network-wide, and external communications. Ensuring excellent communications across the staff team, and the effective promotion of its work.

You will be a highly motivated communications specialist with a proven track record of internal and external communications. You will have excellent planning and prioritisation skills to ensure timely delivery of tasks, along with prior proven experience managing social media channels that results in an impact of campaigns and engagement. 

Key Tasks

• To create content and coordinate internal communications across the Network staff team, ensuring the effective development and implementation of appropriate channels 
• To develop and maintain a communications content calendar when and how the Network’s activity will be effectively communicated
• To coordinate communications across the wider Network, including PTCs, Regional Hubs, and partners, including through the production and dissemination of a regular digital newsletter 
• To develop, post and oversee content for the Network’s social media channels to promote the effectiveness of the Network’s approach and the impact of PTCs and commissioners 
• To establish and maintain appropriate media links to ensure that the reality of poverty, and the impact of commissioners in seeking to alleviate it, is effectively shared
• To support the Network’s parliamentary engagement and its national programmes to ensure that its work is shared impactfully 
• To provide an appropriate level of support to PTCs as they develop their social media and engage with the media appropriately
• To undertake other appropriate duties as requested by the Operations Manager

This role involves working from home with some travel.

Mary Hare educates 200 profoundly deaf children at its residential school in Berkshire, and we pride ourselves on our pupils’ achievements at GCSE, A Level as well as B Tech and Vocational Courses. We offer the opportunity to teach highly motivated children, in small classes, where you can make a real difference at this national centre of excellence for deaf education. The Role:

This is an opportunity to join a vibrant, dynamic and ambitious charity whose goal is to enable deaf children and young people to thrive and reach their full potential.

​The organisation has a good track record of raising substantial sums for major capital developments including an arts centre, new residential accommodation and most recently £4 million for a new Primary School for deaf children. ​You will be responsible for a small team and will need to be able to secure major donations from Trusts, Foundations and individuals.  The role is varied and takes in most areas of fundraising. You will also be responsible to for raising unrestricted funds annually.

The Fundraising Manager will manage the Trusts Fundraiser. The role works across two organisations: The Mary Hare Foundation and Mary Hare. These are two separate registered charities. The Mary Hare Foundation is the fundraising arm and Mary Hare is concerned with service delivery.

The largest fundraising targets are related to capital projects that are outlined by the School.There are some revenue fundraising targets, including the bursary scheme. The role is very hands on with both the management of fundraising and the implementation of fundraising activities, especially trust fundraising.

About you: 

We are looking for someone with proven experience securing funding from trusts and foundations, with a strong track record of writing successful applications for significant grants (£200k+). You will be a confident and persuasive writer, able to communicate our impact concisely and compellingly, while building strong and long-lasting funder relationships. 

Proactive and tenacious, you excel at identifying and pursuing new funding opportunities. Highly organised, with keen attention to detail, you can manage multiple applications and deadlines effectively.

You will be familiar with organising a wide range of events and understand what makes a successful fundraising event.You will have experience of stewarding high level givers as well as securing donations from individuals and companies.You will also have:

• Excellent written skills to create accurate, powerful, compelling and persuasive copy in a range of formats. 
• Ability to match the needs of prospective funders with the needs of the charity. 
• Excellent networking and interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to people at all levels in person, on the phone, by video link or in written format. 
• Excellent organisational and project management skills, with the ability to plan and manage a demanding variety of tasks and manage conflicting priorities to meet deadlines.
• An entrepreneurial approach, able to identify and follow through new opportunities. Adaptable and flexible to a broad range of activities. 
• Self-starter with the ability to work under own initiative; driven and motivated to pursue new opportunities. Solid experience in tracking income and reporting.

About the role:

As an Operations Manager (with allowance), you will be leading several services working to support victims across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent. Currently these include the Staffordshire Victim Gateway, Harmony ASB and Mediation service and the Restorative Justice service. You will ensure the provision of these high-quality services, maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, and work alongside the Area Manager to promote and develop our victim services in the area.

You will:

• Lead the service teams to deliver excellent and high quality support to victims of crime and major incidents
• Directly manage service leads/team leaders and have oversight of volunteering activity across the services
• Prepare and deliver reports for contract monitoring, helping to retain and improve current commissioned contracts, ensuring all KPIs are met and effective case studies provided
• Co-develop and implement business plans and ensure team aware of each service's mission and vision
• Monitor local opportunities to build and maintain relationships with funders and all stakeholders. Represent the services in external forum and be proactive to advocate for victims needs
• Work closely with other Victim Support services in the county and beyond
• Promote and lead innovative approaches to improve support for victims.
• Raise the profile of the services and ensure they are accessible and inclusive
• Contribute to the wider work of Victim Support, shaping our campaigning and service design.

About You:

Ideally, you will have proven experience in a similar organisation, demonstrating proactive, innovative, and effective management skills and the ability to secure high levels of performance, motivation, commitment, teamwork, collaboration, and trust from colleagues.

Experience in effective partnership working is essential. Strong communication skills are required, including the ability to deliver presentations, and raise awareness for the services.

Ideally you will have:

• Proven service delivery success
• Leadership of diverse, multi-site teams
• A good understanding of the Criminal Justice system and issues arising for victims of crime

Role - A strategic role, responsible for supporting, developing and maintaining effective partnerships to support the local VCSE sector and Redcar & Cleveland more generally. The post holder will also be the overall service lead (managing other team members), reporting to and working with the CEO in areas of quality, performance and service development.

Background (Summary)

Enhance is the newly funded VCSE infrastructure support service in Redcar and Cleveland made possible through the collaboration of a number of funders to fill a gap in local provision. 

Lloyds Bank Foundation, Rank Foundation, Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council, Tees Foundation and the Woodsmith Foundation have provided three years of funding and commissioned MVDA to develop and deliver a VCSE infrastructure service (Enhance) in Redcar and Cleveland.

Enhance will provide practical support to VCSE organisations based in the Redcar and Cleveland area who deliver services to local people and communities. 

The service model for Enhance is based on three key areas:

Improvement – Providing practical support through an information and advice service.  This will include for example advice on governance, funding, policy and practice

Growth - The development and delivery of a comprehensive training programme for all VCSEs in Redcar and Cleveland

Influence - Work to support the building and development of relationships; collaborative work across the VCSE sector and cross-sector partnerships

The service will be based in Redcar and Cleveland and will provide an outreach service in the more rural areas of the borough to ensure the services are accessible to all local VCSEs.

• To support delivery of The FA Schools’ Football Strategy and the English Schools’ FA’s Business Plan

Job role

• To identify, develop and maintain strong relationships with key safeguarding stakeholders.

• To manage a diverse workload being able to prioritise work according to risk and timeframes, providing regular updates to the line manager on progress against the work programme, targets and business plan priorities.

This role is crucial in the long-term retention and growth of our partnership revenue streams.
