The International Finance Manager will be responsible for all areas relating to financial activity in our international operations and will ensure appropriate global financial oversight of the growing network of local entities. The role will also support the development of new local entities as Better Cotton extends its global reach to ensure appropriate financial mechanisms are implemented in the new locations.

The focus on governance and internal controls is essential to support the growth in the different locations. There is also a requirement to delve in to the detail when appropriate whilst also being able to understand ‘the big picture’. Due to the nature of the role there will be a significant amount of overseas travel.

You will also lead the implementation of enhancements that addresses our international business processes and systems to drive efficiencies and strengthen controls, working closely with Finance Managers around the world.

This role will report to the Global Head of Finance. You will provide matrix management of country Finance teams i.e., Finance staff based in India, China, Uzbekistan, and Pakistan, and will work closely with the Programme teams for the development of Better Cotton’s operations in other countries. • For Financial Governance, Activity and Reporting, you will:
• Support local teams to develop new entities or to promote appropriate legal structure.
• Support the development of appropriate financial mechanisms and control environment in response to the increasing risks and reporting requirements as Better Cotton evolves in new locations.
• Oversee the maintenance of adequate levels of financial governance for compliance with laws and regulations, help identify risks.
• Support the country Finance teams for all aspects of financial management, accounting, and statutory reporting.
• Guide country teams on:
  • establishing locally relevant processes and policies to ensure compliance with Better Cotton processes and adherence to local statutory and tax requirements
  • developing accounting systems and controls and recruiting adequate Finance staff. Establish internal compliance audits to detect and prevent financial misstatements.
• Support the accounts set up and migration of records of local entities in the organisation’s accounting system.
• Ensure the external audit process for local entities is appropriate. Interact with local auditors when appropriate.
• Advise on local financial issues and conduct diversified ad-hoc analysis (impairment, working capital improvement, performance optimization).
• Advise on Tax and Finance aspects related to organisational changes and support to enhance financial governance mechanisms.
• Collaborate with Legal and Tax advisors to implement agreements.
• Ensure compliance with all local tax, filing and financial authorities requirements.

For Treasury Management, you will:

• Work with the Global Head of Finance to ensure coverage of treasury needs for local entities and local operations,
•  Support the management of currencies and the risks around FX fluctuations, and the implementation of mitigation strategies.

For Financial Controls and Risk Management, you will:

• Work with the Global Head of Finance to deliver the development, implementation, and maintenance of internal controls.
• Prepare internal documentation to support due diligence and internal controls.
• Lead analysis and documentation of technical issues for Better Cotton local offices and related entities to mitigate organisational risk and develop implementation strategies, working in close collaboration with the country teams.
• Review the financial risks for new investment developments for Better Cotton and drive appropriate policies to reduce organisational risk.
• Lead the risk assessment for Finance and review the financial risks for the overall organisation, working closely with the Finance Managers and country teams.
• Document and maintain updated the global risk register. Represent the Finance function in the Risk Register Working group.

For Systems and Process Improvements globally, you will:

• Drive forward a co-ordinated and well-thought-out roadmap of enhancements that addresses our business processes and systems to drive efficiencies and strengthen controls, including supporting the development of an ERP road map working closely with the IT & Country teams.
• Support the maintenance of the ERP road map, working closely with the IT & Country teams, to ensure it remains appropriate as Better Cotton evolves.
• Oversee the Global IT projects related to finance processes and data delivered by the IT team.
• Oversee the implementation of effective international change management process and documentation.

For other areas, you will:

• Work with the Global Head of Finance prepare pre-reads for Finance Committee and Council.
• Work with the Global Head of Finance for many aspects of functional management, including staffing and building an effective motivated team with the appropriate skills as the organisation develops.
• Design appropriate international financial KPIs for the Finance coordination team.
• Perform or assist with ad-hoc or Better Cotton special projects as assigned.

• Qualification/Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance – ideally a Certification in internal auditing and/or risk management. Master’s degree (preferably in accounting and/or Finance) a plus.

About You  

They are looking for a highly motivated individual with experience in business planning or rural estate management with a passion for nature and entrepreneurial spirit to support the acquisition and management planning of new nature reserves in Wales which help restore Celtic rainforest and other important habitats. 

Nature conservation is changing, in the face of the biodiversity and climate crises no longer is it sufficient to protect existing habitats but instead we must look to restore nature at scale in order to ensure it’s survival. To meet this challenge, the nature reserves of the future must also adapt; new sites must become resilient both ecologically and financially. This means utilising a wide variety of funding streams and carefully considering restoration interventions, all whilst making these sites as engaging and accessible as possible. This post will work alongside the Rainforest Restoration Programme team to ensure that new rainforest sites support nature recovery and improve the resilience of the Trusts in Wales. By showcasing these new sites, they can act as powerful advocacy tools that support nature beyond their own boundaries thereby maximising the positive impact of the programme for nature and for communities. 

The Atlantic Rainforest Restoration Programme is a £38.9 million, 100-year programme working in a long-term partnership with Aviva. Native to the British Isles, temperate rainforest is an incredibly rare and biodiverse habitat, rarer even, than its tropical counterpart. This programme is going beyond traditional habitat restoration and creating new rainforests on eligible sites across the bioclimatic envelope (the area along our Atlantic coastline with the specific conditions needed for rainforest to thrive). 

You will need to understand the political, economic and social context that the Welsh and UK nature conservation sector operates within. With that understanding, you will be able to use your direct experience of funding and investment as well as business planning to help the Trusts in Wales create a network of new nature reserves with sustainable business models. 

You will be highly organised – prioritising time and workload effectively. You will be able to utilise ICT efficiently and effectively. Your personable approach will enable you to work with all, building collaborations and partnerships across Trusts and with many different stakeholders.

The Individual Giving Manager in the Mass Fundraising team will work closely with the Senior Individual Giving Manager and Mass Lead to develop the programme across membership, lottery, raffle and digital fundraising.

As Individual Giving Manager you will:  

• Lead on the RNID weekly lottery, which this year will be launching private site face to face recruitment

Job Purpose:

The Institutional Funding Manager will play an important role in SHA’s institutional income generation activities. Working closely with assigned country teams, the post-holder will support pipeline development, lead the development and writing of high-quality bids, donor engagement, and positioning for contract and grant opportunities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are critical for this role.

French and/or Portuguese language skills are desirable.

• Coordinate the timely review of grant agreements to signature
• Add and maintain opportunities, donor records, files and time records in the organisation’s management information system.

The Database Assistant will maintain Symplectic Grant Tracker, a key organisational database, ensuring all data is accurate and meaningful. This database holds the application portal for organisations and is how the Grants & Learning Team manage and support funded partners with their grants. You will undertake regular database administration tasks, such as adding new users, updating forms, importing data and amending the database where required by the team.

You will play a key role in the organisation around GDPR and data protection, working alongside the Database Administrator with a focus on our Salesforce databases, to ensure consistency across both systems. You’ll be working within a team that advocates for evidence-led decision making and a sustainable data culture.

You’ll be a member of the Communications & Marketing team, reporting into the Insights Manager. You’ll also be working closely with the Grants & Learning Team who are responsible for delivering our ambitious, nationwide grants programme and who currently support over 500 grassroots organisations and 18-25 year old creatives. This role will be responsible for ensuring that the correct information is stored effectively and is easily accessible, reportable and usable on Grant Tracker. The Database Assistant will assist us to demonstrate delivery against our Business Plan by programming our grants database to be the most effective at collecting and producing the data output needed by the team.

This new role will be a reliable support for users across the organisation, providing helpful and friendly support.

 About you

 You will have experience with databases, excellent administration, communication and analytical skills, and a keen eye for detail. What the job involves

This is a fantastic opportunity for a proactive, people-orientated Microsoft SQL data expert to join an established data function at one of the most dynamic and fastest growing charities in the UK.

Data powers the insight we make decisions by and drives the way we are building long term relationships with our customers – from service users to fundraisers, from campaigners to volunteers. As an organisation, we are transforming our culture to be data and insight driven and this role will play a major part in making that happen.

We are looking for an experienced Microsoft SQL Developer to design, develop, and maintain SQL Server databases that support our business applications and operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL programming, and database performance optimisation.

Working alongside our solutions architect, you’ll be responsible for the development and management of our data import processes by managing and onboarding new data feeds through our bespoke ETL tool, the Message Broker. You’ll be focused on developing and translating business reasoning into data transformation. You’ll act as a key conduit between teams – ensuring new functionality is rolled out effectively to become business as usual. Find the best ways of importing and validating customer data, so we can build long term relationships with our customers and keep them coming back for more. You’ll get involved at the briefing stage and see it through to delivery of data, championing security, governance, quality and accuracy at every step along the way. 

This is role is currently seconded to the Technology Directorate, working on the delivery of the charity’s key IT systems such as the current migration from Raisers Edge 7 to Raisers Edge NXT CRM.

As Project Support Officer you will support the London & South East Area Manager and Regional Managers with volunteer recruitment, documentation of training, giving our volunteers a fantastic experience, guest outreach and giving extra support to our London & South East projects as and when required to aid development and growth within the region.

Each of our Projects is run by Project Leaders (volunteer position) and supported by Regional Managers through recruitment and training of volunteers. Your will support the Regional Managers so that they can manage more projects, knowing that you have helped with the embedding of volunteers, along with supporting expansion plans within their areas. This support could range from developing relationships with our food suppliers, researching local organisations to support with guest outreach, and recruiting new Project Leaders for the Area.

You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and be able to talk confidently to external people about our Projects. You will also be a good organizer, with the ability to manage multiple tasks within multiple Projects. You will have a passion for food and cooking, and be committed to our objectives and ethics.

This role will require some attendance at our Community Meals projects, to support with delivery as necessary, which will include evening and weekend work. As well as projects across London, our South East projects include Southampton, Portsmouth, Aylesbury and exciting new openings in Slough and Reading in 2024.
