Why we need you
Supported by existing project funding and a long-term grant from the Access to Justice Foundation, we’re looking for two people to join our Senior Management Team and help lead the next phase of our innovative and award-winning development work. The Head of Core Service and Head of Community Partnerships will work together to:
- Continue developing our approach to community engagement, helping reduce access barriers for people from the most marginalised communities.
- Embed changes to our core service that make it more accessible and responsive to those communities.
Both roles also have overall responsibility for a range of funded projects and services and, as leaders and managers, responsibility for:
- Ensuring we live up to our values, standards and ambitions.
- Managing contracts and relationships with funders, partners and other stakeholders.
- Developing organisational strategy and identifying new funding and partnership opportunities.
With a focus on operational compliance and core delivery, the Head of Core Service role would suit applicants with a strong track record of managing advice services, ideally within the Citizens Advice network. We’re not necessarily looking for someone with an advice background for the Head of Community Partnerships role, but great project management, people management and relationship building skills are essential. * This role is not a donor-facing role but sits within the newly created Partnerships and Philanthropy Operations team that provides the back-of-house systems, processes, content and support to enable donor-facing colleagues to operate efficiently and effectively.
* We ask all members of Age UK's Partnerships and Philanthropy department to work from our London hub near Tower Hill at least once a week to enable collaboration, skills development and team dynamics (currently Thursdays). About the role

Essential

Experience of developing integrated financial and fundraising systems.

Experience (2 years or more) of managing organisational finances, specifically:

Using finance software

Managing payroll and pensions

Managing financial service providers

Experience of developing long-term fundraising strategies focussed on trusts and grants.

Experience of supporting staff to manage budgets and/or fundraise

Experience of collectively running a group, and/or working and/or organising within a collective management structure and/or a flat or non-hierarchical structure

Excellent collaboration and team working skills, including clear and timely communication, openness to feedback and willingness to engage with conflict when necessary and with care
-
Ability to work independently and autonomously within a collective, with a good ability to adapt to changing need and circumstance
Desirable

Track record of generating income for an organisation through fundraising, including managing and reporting on grants.

Knowledge of and interest in anti-oppressive fundraising and financial practices including;
