Job Title: Night Recovery Worker

Location: Based within Bedfordshire. Unforutnately, step free access is not fully available for this service. The building is approximately a 10 minute walk from Bedford Station.

Salary: £26,200

Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Sunday, working 12.5 hour shifts on a rota 21:30 to 08:30. You may be required to work outside these hours as well as bank holidays in line with the needs of the residents and service.

About the Role

We're hiring a Night Recovery Worker to join our team in Bedfordshire and help deliver our new mental health step down service, opening in April 2026. This is an 11 bedded, community based mental health crisis and step down service offering short stay, trauma informed support and psychologically informed alternative to hospital admission and facilities, forming part of the wider Urgent and Emergency Care pathway.

The service supports people at risk of admission who can be safely supported in the community, helping them overcome personal barriers, achieve their goals and access a range of opportunities, including education, community involvement and skill development. In this role, you will provide person centred, psychologically informed support, contribute to rehabilitation and reintegration and ensure the safe and effective running of the night service. You will play a vital role in admission avoidance, flow and discharge, supporting residents to rebuild their lives while maintaining quality, consistency, and contractual outcomes within a trauma and psychologically informed environment.

Some key responsibilities include: 

• Being the main point of contact for our residents, helping to create and update their support and risk plans; Ensure the safety and wellbeing of residents at all times
• Work collaboratively with external teams such as crisis resolution teams, community mental health teams, Inpatient Wards, and other crisis alternatives e.g. Recovery Lounges etc. We are looking to build an effective and knowledgeable staff team to deliver this exciting provision
• Supporting with the creation of tailored support plans in collaboration with the wider team and resident.
• Monitoring residents’ wellbeing during the night, carrying out regular welfare checks, and responding to any incidents or emergencies.
• Planning activities to engage residents with other people, communities, and opportunities such as movie nights, cooking evenings, and games nights
• Be a valued and reliable member of the team, completing handovers for day colleagues for a seamless service
• Follow safeguarding procedures and report any concerns when needed.
• Support residents with taking their medication and keep accurate records support plans up to date. Build good working relationships with colleagues and outside agencies.

• Experience working with people with multiple and complex needs, ideally in mental health and residential setting
• Ability to show empathy and compassion to our residents, and different challenges they face
• IT Proficiency, ability to learn new software programs, basic Microsoft experience
• Ability and willingness to show flexibility of working patterns, responding to the needs of the service and residents
• Cultural awareness, Self awareness, and ability to identify personal growth areas and take feedback
• Ability to promote the service and provide outreach based provision, with an ability to liaise and work effectively in partnership with stakeholders

Job Title: Night Support Mentor (FTC)

Shift Pattern: Fixed Term contract until May 2028. 37.5 hours per week Monday to Sunday on a rota which can range between 20:30 - 8:00  You may be required to work outside these hours dependent on service and resident requirements including weekends and bank holidays.

We are looking for a dedicated Night Support Mentor to join us in delivering a person centred and bespoke trauma informed support to women in Luton. This new service will provide a safe, secure, and nurturing environment for women facing sexual exploitation and substance dependency – a place they can truly call home. Through stable, person-centred care, you'll play a vital role in empowering women to rebuild their lives and embrace brighter futures. 

In this role, as a Night Support Mentor, you will work within a 24 hour service which provided person centred support to our residents, working to ensure the safety and wellbeing. Our residents have experienced multiple forms of exclusion, such as historical/ongoing abuse, involvement in the criminal justice system, mental health challenges, drug and/or alcohol dependency and enduring high levels of violence and coercion. You will build trusting professional relationships with residents, helping them to achieve their goals and aspirations which could be through tailored one to one sessions, group sessions, in and out of service activities, and general wellbeing check ins. Your role will focus on empowering our residents to take control over their lives and meet their personal goals

 Responsibilities include:

• Holding a caseload, conducting key work sessions which are personable to resident needs
• Carry out regular welfare checks, safeguarding checks, and general living checks
• Encourage residents to take part in activities and events both within the service and the community
• Keep support plans up to date on a regular basis
• Work closely with the rest of the team to provide overall excellent service delivery, this may mean also supporting with their caseloads, and other tasks as necessary
• Building trusting professional relationships with residents, helping them to achieve their goals and aspirations which could be through tailored one to one sessions, group sessions, in and out of service activities, and general wellbeing check ins.

The Role

As a Support Worker in a Children’s Home, you will provide direct care and support to young people aged 12–17 with complex emotional and mental health needs, including experiences of trauma and loss. Working within a therapeutic framework, you will build safe, trusting and professional relationships, support emotional regulation, and promote positive outcomes.

You will be responsible for safeguarding young people, supporting daily routines, liaising with professionals, and completing accurate support and care documentation. For Waking Night roles, on-call management support is provided, along with monthly team meetings and one-to-one supervision.

About You

You will have:
• At least 1 year’s experience supporting children or young people in residential, fostering, semi-independent or youth work settings
• A willingness to achieve the Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare within 2 years
• A genuine commitment to helping children and young people reach their full potential
• An understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries
• The ability to manage challenging behaviour effectively
• Strong communication and teamwork skills

About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and organised Children and Families Worker to lead and grow our ministry with children and families in the parish. This role is perfect for someone who loves helping children explore faith, has experience working with different age groups, and enjoys building relationships in the community.

Key Responsibilities

• Run Children’s Church on Sundays during term-time — including leading sessions and coordinating a team of volunteers.

• Develop a new older children’s group, including volunteer recruitment and curriculum planning.

• Help lead monthly All-Age Services in collaboration with the Vicar.

• Run a monthly Bubble Church service and manage related outreach and admin.

• Co-lead Tufnell Tots (stay-and-play group) on Thursday mornings.

• Build relationships with local primary schools (Tufnell Park and Yerbury) through regular lunch clubs, assemblies, and visits.

• Support and co-run termly community events such as our Pancake Party, Fireworks Night, and Back to School Party.

• Develop creative, new initiatives — such as after-school activities or holiday clubs — to help children and families engage with faith.

• Ensure full compliance with our safeguarding policy and support safeguarding admin.

• Encourage sustainability in children’s events and teach the importance of caring for God’s creation.

• Support an inclusive approach to working with children with additional needs and disabilities, adapting content and approaches as needed.

About You

Essential:

• A living Christian faith and a desire to help children grow in their knowledge and experience of God.

• Good knowledge of the Bible and enthusiasm for sharing its stories.

• A strong understanding of safeguarding principles.

• Excellent team player who relates well to both children and adults.

• Experience in recruiting and supporting volunteers.

• Confident organisational and communication skills.

Desirable:

• A qualification in children’s ministry or a related field.

• Experience working with a range of age groups — from toddlers to pre-teens.

• First Aid certification.
