About the role

This is an exciting new role for someone with welfare benefits advice experience.

You will complete benefits checks and applications for our clients, their families and their carers. This includes providing support with Personal Independence Payment, Attendance Allowance, Pension Credit, Carer’s Allowance, Council Tax and Housing Benefit applications.

Main Responsibilities

Providing information and advice over the telephone to older people, their carers and relatives

Completing benefits checks and advising clients accurately and appropriately in relation to their welfare benefit and related entitlements

Holistically exploring a client’s financial, health and care needs to fully understand and tailor support to their specific circumstances

Job Description

This role reports to the Head of Transactional Finance. The jobholder is one of three people working in the Accounts Payable Team, which is part of the Transactional Finance & Systems function. The Transactional Finance & Systems function is responsible for:

• recording and processing the financial transactions required to support the operations of ABRSM and its subsidiary ABRSM (Publishing) Limited and to enable it to meet its statutory obligations
• the provision of timely and accurate financial management information to departmental budget holders and to the ABRSM's committees.
• Management of the Accounts Payable Team including monitoring the volume of work and allocation of work to two Accounts Payable Assistants, ensuring that deadlines are met and accuracy is maintained.
• General review and oversight of the work carried out by the Accounts Payable Assistants providing leadership, support and training in Accounts Payable procedures as required.
• Ensuring all incoming Supplier invoices are shared between AP assistants and processed for authorisation daily.
• Ensuring Examiner fees are processed for weekly payment runs as set out in with ABRSM's payment policy.
• Ensuing Examiner and HLR expenses are processed weekly for payment.
• Ensuring Suppliers are paid in accordance with their payment terms and ABRSM's approval process.
• Resolving Supplier and Examiner queries, reconciling statements, and building strong relationships
• Ensuring bank Direct Debits relevant to supplier invoices are processed monthly before month end.
• Processing staff Barclaycard applications and maintaining expenditure limits.

The Role

The Events Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the effective delivery of HTB's Evangelism & Mobilisation events and programmes, including Sunday Services, Events Christmas, Easter, HTB Alpha, Connect Groups, Teams, Prayer Ministry training, Workplaced and HTB Focus. This role ensures all operational, administrative, and logistical elements are well-managed and enables consistent implementation and excellent output across any of our 6 London sites (BR, OS, DW, CG, QG, EC).

The Key Responsibilities

The candidate must be able and willing to work evenings and weekends to deliver events,
courses, Sunday services and other ad hoc operational requirements as and when required.

Operational & Administrative Support
• Plan and coordinate the logistical and operational elements for all Evangelism & Mobilisation events, services and initiatives

• Create and manage project plans, checklists, and updates; support the team in meeting key milestones and deadlines.
• Coordinate the creation and delivery of relevant media, comms and programme content materials for our services and events
• Facilitate clear, timely communication across the department and with other teams
• Coordinate department logistics for offsite events such as Focus and the Leadership Conference.
• Maintain accurate service and events records using church management systems such as ChurchSuite.
• Collaborate with Operations Coordinators, Events Coordinators and Managers across departments as needed.
• Support the mobilisation of the wider congregation by creating opportunities for involvement in department activities.

Hours of Work: Bank worker – hours will be varied: hours to be between 9am - 5pm Monday – Friday as required.

Independent Advocate Requirements:

• Strong communication and time management skills to successfully work remotely.
• Excellent IT skills, including the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel, and the ability to learn software packages such as client management databases.
• Attention to detail to ensure accurate recording of records and reporting to meet tight deadlines.

Desirable:

• Previous experience in advocacy, information and advice, or a similar role within health, social care, or the voluntary sector.
• Demonstrable experience working with vulnerable adults.

We are looking for a dedicated team member to empower service users in building independence and engaging confidently with professionals such as mental health teams, social workers, housing providers and employment services. You will play a key role in assessing support needs, advocating for service users, and ensuring smooth transitions between different levels of support. The role involves developing co-produced group activities, peer networks and community-based opportunities, while encouraging meaningful engagement and local support networks. You will also manage referrals, assessments and reviews, monitor wellbeing and safety, and contribute flexibly to the wider team. Strong administration, accurate record-keeping and a commitment to safeguarding and confidentiality are essential.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with individuals with mental health and/or dual diagnosis needs in either paid or voluntary roles. They will be able to learn quickly, gather and process information, make informed decisions, and maintain accurate records within confidentiality guidelines. The role requires the ability to work with individuals who may display challenging behaviour, using a calm, non-judgemental, solution-focused approach to defuse difficult situations and support positive change. Candidates should be optimistic about clients' capacity to change, able to work collaboratively to solve problems, and adaptable to a sometimes chaotic or pressured environment. A clear understanding of safeguarding principles and the ability to address concerns appropriately is essential, alongside a willingness to work unsociable hours, including early, late, and occasional weekend shifts as part of a team rota.

Job Description

Key responsibilities:

· Maintain supplier records including validating and updating bank details, contact information, and remittance addresses.

· Monitor the Finance Department mailbox and in-tray, responding and redirecting queries as appropriate.

· Process financial transactions including supplier invoices and staff/credit card expense claims in accordance with agreed processes and deadlines.

· Support preparation and batching of weekly and ad-hoc payment runs, ensuring proper documentation is attached and ready for approval.

· Complete bank reconciliations and assist in routine reconciliations of supplier accounts, and other control accounts under the guidance of the Senior Finance Assistant.

· Maintain accurate and organised filing (electronic and paper) for all processed work.

· Assist with audit and reporting tasks by retrieving and preparing documentation as required.

· Provide cover and support across other transactional processes during peak times or absences

Working Environment:  

The post holder should expect to:

· Work in a hybrid hot desk environment, generally working 2 days a week in the London office and three from home.

· Be responsible for the input and maintenance of databases and files relevant to the post requirements.

· Will occasionally be required to attend events in the evening and at weekends.

We are recruiting an energetic and enthusiastic officer to join our Activity Service to support the older people who attend our range of activities.

We are looking for a positive, dynamic individual; to join our busy and vibrant Activity Service, this is an exciting time to join the team as we develop and expand the service including the way we take bookings and deliver our activities. This role is based at pur office in Mitcham and is the first point contact for people who attend our centre in person or over the phone, so we are looking for someone with exceptional customer service skills and warm and welcoming with good listening skills.
