Purpose of the role:

At NEON, we know that you can’t separate the external work of the organisation from the internal work. They are so interlinked and interdependent that they both have to be given priority and resources if we want to achieve high impact. We see them as inseparable. 

So the purpose of this role is to support NEON achieving its mission by ensuring the smooth running of NEON’s finance systems and processes. You’ll do this by delivering on the main financial tasks day-to-day, and support with finance projects aimed at improving NEON’s systems.

Key Responsibilities: 

1. Doing all of our day-to-day fundraising administration to keep us well-organised and compliant. This includes:

   1. Recording and monitoring fundraising data using our Fundraising Tracking Database

   2. Keeping all of our grant agreements, contracts and other relevant documentation well-organised on GDrive and elsewhere 

   3. Ensuring compliance with the financial requirements of the grant agreements, and updating and maintaining the grant payments schedule 

   4. Raising invoices on Xero in line with funder agreements - noting instalment dates and receipts

2. Preparing payroll each month, ensuring everything happens on time and coordinating with our payroll agency. (This may only be a temporary responsibility) 

3. Processing and reconciling payments. This includes:

   1. Reconciling bank receipts and chasing late payments

   2. Processing supplier invoices and payments

   3. Monitoring our team’s Pleo card expenses and posting on Slack to our team for authorisation

   4. Managing the subscriptions on Pleo cards (this is likely a temporary responsibility until our People & Ops Manager returns from sabbatical leave)

4. Preparing some financial reports and accounts. This includes accounts to trial balance, and ad hoc reports from Xero when our team have finance queries or need support

5. Supporting with finance projects which make our finance systems work more efficiently, simply and sustainably e.g. helping to update our budget spreadsheets and approach to budgeting, or moving to a new bank

6. Supporting the Head of Finance with budgets, financial planning and reports and any other ad hoc finance tasks

7. Being part of Ops Hub shared work and cross-organisational work and team days 

About you:

• You have experience dealing with people in different capacities, both internally and externally, on a day to day basis, and build strong working relationships

• You have solid finance experience and skill. For us that means:

  1. a minimum of three years work experience in a finance role, preferably within the charity/non profit sector. This means you have a good understanding of non-profit finance, including VAT and managing restricted and unrestricted funds

  2. a solid understanding of Accounts Payable (with BACs, invoicing, etc) and Receivable (invoicing and credit control) processes

  3. a Level 4 AAT, equivalent qualification or equivalent experience

  4. experience in control accounts reconciliation, and posting journals

• You know how to use accounting software and apps (e.g., Xero, Quickbooks, Sage) as well as Microsoft Excel or Google sheets

• You are proactive, well-organised and feel empowered to solve problems yourself when they come up (sometimes described as an “ownership mindset”), as well as balancing this with asking for help when you need it

• Excellence is important to you and it shows in your work. Whatever you do, you do it to a high standard

• You have strong organisational and time-management skills that are required to manage multiple tasks and deadlines. And you are comfortable moving between different paces of work - slower, more methodical work and quicker turnaround work

• You are a great communicator and you know that good communication is really important to the type of work you do - you’ll be happy to use our internal comms systems (Slack, Google Suite, Asana) to keep everyone in the loop on your work

DFN Project SEARCH offer an evidence-based supported internship model which takes place entirely in the workplace.  The programmes provide continuous support to young adults with a learning disability, and autistic people who are aged between 16 – 24 with an Education Health and Care Plan, or equivalent, in their final year of education.

You will be required to identify opportunities to develop and grow DFN Project SEARCH programmes across a geographical area with the aim of supporting the organisation to ensure that as many people as need it have access to DFN Project SEARCH programmes.

In addition, you will be required to develop strategies to ensure that the operational programmes in your area are achieving at least the average outcomes expected for young people in our programmes and so you must be committed to continuous improvement.

You will be specifically required to develop strong partnerships and train and support colleagues within your area. You may also be required to support colleagues promoting DFN Project SEARCH in other areas, further European projects as required and contribute to the development of relevant UK focussed materials.

As a Programme Specialist you will be expected to:

• Demonstrate effective project planning and preparation so that each project delivers achieves the highest quality programme possible and outstanding employment outcomes for the interns.

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified and passionate counsellor to join a trauma-informed, inclusive charity known for its community focus.

You will provide short-term counselling to LGBTQ+ adults and people living with or affected by HIV. Your approach will be empowerment-based, culturally sensitive, and in line with BACP standards.

As Head of Fundraising and Communications, you will manage a high-performing team of four staff: Database & Donor Manager, Communications & Engagement Manager. Job Overview:

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and innovative psychologist to join our warm and friendly team at our Dose of Nature hub in Surrey. Dose of Nature is in an exciting phase as we continue to receive funding to expand our reach, particularly increasing accessibility to our service for clients living in the Waverley area.

We are seeking a psychologist with passion for the natural world and there is great potential for the psychologist to lead on areas in which we seek to develop and expand. The post-holder would be closely supported by the psychology team, as well as the wider team, to do so.

Dose of Nature is a mental health charity whose objective is to improve the mental health and wellbeing of individuals through increased engagement with the natural world. Our work is rooted in a wealth of scientific evidence that demonstrates the physiological and psychological benefits of spending time in nature.  We deliver ‘Nature Prescriptions’ to adults (aged 18+) referred by their GP with a wide range of mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, trauma, and addiction.

Our Dose of Nature Prescription is overseen by psychologists and is a genuine alternative to both medication and more traditional psychological interventions. Through a combination of education, first-hand experience, and practical and motivational support, we aim to encourage a greater connection with nature and inspire lifestyle changes that will have a significant and lasting impact on mental wellbeing.  Dose of Nature is a fun, supportive and lively organisation that encourages creativity and independence, as well as a strong sense of working together as a team.

The nature of the role requires occasional evenings and weekends to cover monthly volunteer training evenings and social events as necessitated by the needs of the charity.

Key Responsibilities 

Clinical 

• To carry out psychological assessments of clients referred to the service, to reach a psychological formulation of the client’s difficulties and understand their wider contextual needs, and to support those clients throughout their journey with Dose of Nature, offering ad-hoc support where needed.
• To subsequently pair clients with an appropriate volunteer Nature Guide who then delivers the Dose of Nature Prescription.
• To review clients at the end of their Dose of Nature Prescription and ensure that those clients who would like to and / or need to, maintain connection with Dose of Nature by attending groups, social events, and through ad-hoc support.
• To maintain relationships with GP practices and other referrers, and to inform them of client progress.
• To support the Clinical Lead to offer workshops and presentations to other agencies, professional colleagues and in the wider community.
• To provide specialist psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals, staff members and volunteers contributing to a client’s recovery.

London Weighting

Temporary cover (6-8 weeks may be up to 12 weeks) must be able to start 2nd June 2025 (plus 6% contributory pension. 35 hours per week).

The Care Navigator will support those with long term conditions to access timely care and community support services. Working closely with Camden GP practices and Integrated Care Teams is required as is accurate record keeping using IT systems. Through timely intervention and care co-ordination, unnecessary hospital admissions, GP appointments and residential placements will be reduced.

The successful candidate will come from an information/advice, social care or health background, must be computer literate, and have excellent people and communication skills, and able to work in a multi-disciplinary team. Experience of person centred planning is required. It is important that a candidate promotes a culture that values, protects and uses information for the success of the organisation and benefit of its clients/patients.

For this role it is essential that you to have the ability to travel across Camden as the role involves visiting clients in their own homes. Senior Events Executive, Global’s Make Some Noise

This is a rare opportunity for someone with a minimum of 1-2 years events experience looking to take the next step and expand their skills by working on a diverse range of events ranging from our high profile celebrity fronted gala Global’s Make Some Noise Night, to stewardship events at incredible venues including Downing Street and The House of Lords to breakfast events in Global’s Leicester Square office. In addition, you will have the chance to broaden your skills by volunteering at major events including Capital’s Summertime Ball and Jingle Bell Ball, and help shape new events led by presenters and committees.

• Understood event project plans and key processes including guest management, finance processes and managing the events inbox

• Shared new ideas to help shape future sponsorship and fundraising mechanics

• Established a plan to lead Prize outreach and fulfilment for future fundraising events, being the main point of contact for 50+ prize contacts, organising their experiences using great project management and customer service skills.

What you’ll need 
 
The ideal candidate will have a passion for events, be proactive and willing to develop and implement innovative solutions, capable of the following: 

• Background: Previous experience in a charity or events agency environment. An understanding of working within a charity’s Special Events Team is an advantage.

• Relationships: You’ll be an excellent communicator with the ability to build rapport, engage supporters and secure support from external stakeholders.

• Resilience: You’ll be a self-starter with great energy and stamina, and the ability to bounce back from setbacks with positivity and determination.

• Event Management: You’ll have a good understanding of event management processes and excellent attention to detail

• Fundraising proven success supporting on a range of fundraising mechanics used at events.  Experience working with the EMMA Auction platform will be helpful.

• Finance: Proven experience of managing finance processes and invoices with suppliers and supporters

• Planning: You’ll be highly organised, with demonstrable experience of working under pressure, often to tight deadlines. 

• Creativity: You’ll be a creative, innovative thinker with eye on trends to help identify incredible auction prizes, invitations and future event ideas

• Proactivity: A proactive thinker, always looking to spot improvements and opportunities, and using your initiative to spot issues before they occur.

• Team player: Seeing a project right through to the end – working out of hours when necessary and to support our events. Purpose of the role

At NEON we believe that organising is crucial if we’re to build the power we need to win a new economy and deepen cross-community solidarity at a time of political polarisation. A central part of our new strategy - and this role -  is to support movement organisations and organisers to build their capacity to do what we call Transformative Organising - where we transform the conditions we live in, transform ourselves and transform who has power in society. We use a combination of trainings, 1-2-1 mentoring and strategic partnerships with movement organisations to give organisers the tools, skills and confidence they need to build a base with those at the sharp end of the crisis, develop politically conscious leaders, and plan strategic & escalating campaigns that win. You’ll work with our Head of Organising and colleagues in the Movement Building Hub to scale up this offer over the coming years, with a particular focus on the housing, climate and migration movements, as well as supporting movements to tackle a rising far-right. 

What you will be doing

1. Deliver organising trainings to social movement organisers and campaigners, using content from our Transformative Organising programme and working closely with our Head of Organising and NEON trainers. These will be a mix of shorter workshops and multi-day trainings, blending in-person and online delivery, and you will be supported to experiment with different delivery models to meet movement needs. 

2. Work in partnership with organisers, organisations and coalitions to build their organising capacity over the long-term, through ongoing mentoring and hands-on support and training.

3. Conduct extensive 1-2-1s with movement organisers, to strengthen relationships, explore opportunities for collaboration and understand movement needs. 

4. Support the development of a network of UK-based organisers, and create spaces for collective learning and ensure NEON’s organising offer meets the needs of organisers on the ground.

5. Work with the Head of Organising to periodically review and update NEON’s Transformative Organising content, staying responsive to movement needs and incorporating the latest organising practices and tools. 

6. Organise public events on organising topics, including webinars and workshops, bringing together organisers from across social movements

7. Contribute to the Movement Building Hub’s wider work, including the organising components of our Worker-led Transition programme and our work to build the strategic capacity of movement leaders and organisations. This role will also contribute to cross-organisational work in NEON’s key focus areas (migration, housing, climate, and tackling the rise of the far-right), as well as projects to support the development of NEON’s internal culture. 

Who you are

This isn’t a tick box exercise and we don’t expect you to meet all of the criteria - it’s more to give both us and you an overall sense of the role, and how the skills and experience you have might map onto it. 

We’re looking for someone with a: 

1. Proven track record of using organising tools and approaches to plan and deliver successful campaigns, with at least 3-5 years of experience. This might include doing base-building, conducting outreach, mapping, organising mass meetings and actions, or integrating political education into campaign planning 

2. Ability to deliver a strategic and escalating organising plan in a fast moving  and politically complex environment 

3. Experience of delivering trainings, including to those at the sharp end of injustice, with a passion for being and developing as a trainer

4. Understanding of UK social movements, their strengths and weaknesses, and opportunities for NEON to provide support 

5. Good communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and sensitively, and work effectively with a range of movement organisations and individuals, including those directly impacted by injustice and oppression

6. Excellent planning skills to ensure projects are designed delivered to a high standard

7. Ability to work independently and flexibly in a dynamic organisation

8. Willingness to occasionally work unsociable hours (always repaid with TOIL)

9. Proven understanding of anti-oppression work and commitment to tackling all institutional forms of oppression, bigotry and exclusion

10. An affinity with NEON’s aims, objectives and organisational values of solidarity, generosity and respect.

About You

You will have working experience in a generalist HR Advisory role, with either CIPD level 5 or equivalent experience, and related knowledge of employment law. You will have some knowledge in managing the employee life cycle including recruitment, HR policies and procedures, and in resolving employee relations challenges with confidence and empathy. To accomplish this, you will also have excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and communication skills.
