Job Description
The purpose of this role is to raise LMK’s profile and to engage LMK’s stakeholders in our services, campaigns and fundraising efforts by delivering impactful content across all of our online and offline communication channels in alignment with our vision, mission and strategic objectives. With a keen eye for detail and a passion for creating quality communications, you will lead our PR and media work, be skilled in creating engaging video content and add your expertise to developing and delivering our social media, website and stakeholder communications.
Reporting to our CEO, the successful candidate will job-share with our established 2 day-per week Marketing & Communications Manager. As a member of LMK’s core staff team, you will work with LMK staff, LMK Leaders (youth workers who deliver our workshops to young people), members of our Youth Advisory Board, trustees and key stakeholders to develop and implement our brand, marketing and social media strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing & Brand
- Co-develop LMK’s marketing strategy, leveraging key stakeholder input and action plans to support it
- Co-ownership of the execution of all marketing activities and materials, ensuring they reflect the brand and the values of the charity
- Lead the planning and execution of PR and media campaigns, leveraging media contacts, ensuring LMK has engaging media materials and our spokespeople are fully prepared to maximise media opportunities
- Be a brand guardian, responsible for the consistent use of visual identity, tone and messaging in our external materials, working with our graphic designer to support teams across LMK with branding
Communications, Content Development & Execution
- Co-ownership of the execution of all communications and content development
- Lead on the creation of engaging video content that can be used across communications platforms
- Working with the wider team, produce communications materials for supporters and key stakeholders in conjunction with the fundraising team
- Source and write up regular impact stories from across the organisation that reflect our strategic objectives which can be used in a variety of channels
- Be responsible for tracking the impact of marketing & communications, sharing reports with the team and Board of Trustees
Digital
- Grow and expand LMK’s social media presence onto new platforms (e.g. TikTok, SnapChat, Bluesky) whilst expanding existing presence on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn
- Monitor social channels daily, checking for messages/comments
- Co-manage the website as a key marketing channel, creating engaging content, optimising for SEO, overseeing website design updates, coordinating with developers on technical aspects, and analysing website traffic

- Comply with LMK policies and procedures relating to safeguarding, health & safety, confidentiality, complaints and data protection

Person specification
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience of developing messages/content for different audiences effectively and across different platforms including social media, websites, newsletters and emails
- Evidence of success in developing and executing PR strategies, including securing and maximising media opportunities
- Highly organised to manage a diverse workload with excellent time management and project management skills
- Experience of using a social media management tools e.g. Buffer, Asana, Hootsuite and communications tools e.g. Mailchimp
- Experience in creating and editing video content, using Canva or an equivalent design programme
- A knowledge of the Violence Against Women and Girls sector, Education sector or working with young people would be preferable, although not essential

Location: Remote (UK), within reasonable commuting distance to London to accommodate regular donor meetings. This may be up to once a week.
Role purpose:
ShelterBox’s income from major donors has increased significantly in recent years – we are now seeking a Philanthropy Manager to accelerate this growth and build upon a promising pipeline of donors in and around London. You will work with our ambitious and high-performing Philanthropy and Partnerships team to connect high net-worth individuals with ShelterBox’s lifesaving work.
This role will work closely with the Senior Philanthropy and Partnerships Manger and an existing Philanthropy Manager, whilst being supported by the Stewardship and Research Officer and Philanthropy and Partnerships Assistant.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a passionate, proactive and driven individual who will build a strong pipeline of high-value prospects to help us deliver emergency shelter to the most vulnerable people hit by conflict, disaster and the climate crisis.
Playing a substantial role in driving forward our philanthropy activity, you will engage new and existing supporters to maximise their income potential. You must be able to present a compelling case for support, both in writing and verbally, and be able to build relationships easily, both externally and internally.
This is a perfect opportunity for a driven, articulate, and personable relationship fundraiser who wants to play a pivotal part in scaling ShelterBox’s impact.
Duties will include but not be limited to:
· Work with ShelterBox’s Philanthropy Advisory Board to grow the major donor pipeline and portfolio, particularly focusing on donors in an around London.
· Effectively manage a portfolio of existing major donors: developing strong and personal relationships, delivering bespoke stewardship and communication plans to ensure donors feel part of ShelterBox; providing them with inspiring stories, unique engagement opportunities, and strong impact reporting.
· Develop a wide range of compelling communications for prospects and existing major donors including proposals, reports, and deliver concise and engaging updates via email, phone and in person.
· Work with the Senior Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager, Head of Philanthropy & Partnerships, Director of Fundraising and Communications, and CEO to steward to the top high-level donors.
· Working with the Head of Philanthropy & Partnerships to refine and implement the major donor strategy.
· Work closely with the Stewardship and Research Officer to carry out targeted prospect research, and develop bespoke and strategic cultivation plans for prospective donors currently in the pipeline.
· Support with the development and implementation of cultivation and stewardship events to deepen donor engagement.
· Utilise the grant management system when securing restricted income (i.e. tracking pipeline, asks, restricted income secured, reporting requirements).
· Act as the subject matter expert (SME) to provide knowledge and expertise in major donor fundraising and the wider ShelterBox team (UK and global affiliates).
· Maximise the benefits of the CRM to create and implement cultivation and stewardship journeys for high-level funders, keeping records updated and following Data Protection regulations.
· Be active in the fundraising sector, know and follow the latest fundraising legislation and codes of practice, seek out peer learning and peer mentoring opportunities, network and contribute.
· Represent ShelterBox as required and always work in line with our aims, values and plans.
· As part of an emergency organisation there will be times when you will be required to work evenings and weekends at short notice in response to a disaster

- Provide executive support and guidance to the CEO and Chair of the Board of Trustees
- Ensure the Trusts records for the Charity Commission for England and Wales and for the Scottish Charity Regulator are always up to date and any changes in relevant law and guidance are communicated to the CEO and Board
- Manage dailyadministrative activities
