You can make a difference…Age UK Wandsworth is a small, local, independent charity that has been working with older people in the area since 1963. We rely on your support to keep serving the older residents with in the Wamdsworth community. We have a dedicated team of experienced staff and a large network of dedicated local volunteers. Our aim is to enable everyone to age well in Wandsworth. We would love your help to be able to continue to support older Wandsworth residents.
Our Be-a-Friend service is one of our longest running services, matching people over 65, who live alone and have limited social contact, with a friendly local volunteer with similar hobbies and interests. The volunteer and their new friend set up a suitable time for them to meet each week for a chat and a cup of tea, which could be during the day, in the evening on the way home from work or even on the weekends . If you would prefer to volunteer from home, you can also be matched with an older person for telephone befriending. For many of our matched pairs, this is the beginning of a firm friendship.
Befriending Plus
Befriending Plus is an extended version of the Be-a-Friend programme, for individulas needing help with life admin and small tasks as well as companionship. For Befriending Plus pairs, time spent together can include helping to use a phone or tablet, helping the client to organise their file, going out for a coffee or popping to the post office together. This support can help older people to stay independent at home for longer, as well as increasing their confidence to do these tasks when the volunteer is not there.

Main Duties:
Morning - Assisting Dementia Outreach Worker to facilitate a Memory Lane session for people living with dementia or mild cognitive impairment (sessions to help maintain memory and mental functioning), this could involve helping with a range of activities such as art, music and reminiscence. Making tea & coffee.
Afternoon – Assisting Dementia Outreach Worker to facilitate group activity attended by people living with dementia or mild cognitive impairment and their carers – activities could range from quizzes to bingo to arts and crafts. Making tea & coffee.
Training would be ‘on the job’ learning and specialist Dementia training if necessary; online DBS registration with Age UK Surrey will be provided at no cost. You can choose either location to volunteer.

Purpose of role:

Terms:
Due to the nature of the work, our helpline volunteers are continence nurses or qualified healthcare professsionals.Volunteer sessions are a full day of 5 hours, on the same day each week, please note that currently we need more volunteers on Mondays & Tuesdays only. We ask volunteers to commit to this regular weekly pattern, ideally for a period of one year or more. This helps to maintain consistency and a high standard of professional practice.

RASASC Guildford is a charity that supports survivors of all genders over the age of 13 from across Surrey, who have been raped, sexually abused or have had unwanted sexual experience.
We are currently recruiting for Support Line Volunteers (usually aged 23 or over) to work on our newly launched Support Line. Our support line service operates from 6:30pm – 8:30pm Monday to Thursday, and provides a check in, listening and support service for survivors of rape and sexual abuse who have been assessed by RASASC for a 1:1 counselling place and who are currently on the waiting list for one to become available. This service is intended to reassure clients they are not forgotten and provide a safe space to talk about anything they wish. The wait times can be a few months to a few years. We ask that volunteers can commit to one shift every fortnight.
Volunteers are provided with an extensive training programme and are supported by regular supervision and ongoing training. The training programme will be a combination of in person sessions (Guildford) and online sessions.
While most volunteer work is done remotely, we do require quarterly in-person attendance at our Guildford offices for supervision (one evening) as well as occasional in-person training. Volunteers also commit to 1:1 telephone supervision and an online supervision session in addition to the face to face, these occur monthly on a rolling 3-month basis so each month there is a different type of supervision session also always in the evening and normally the second Tuesday of each month.

The women we support here have fled to refuge due to experiencing VAWG (Violence Against Women and Girls) who also have additional barriers to accessing other services such as significant mental health support needs and/or problematic alcohol and/or substance use. We believe that spending time in nature, socialising and working together on a shared project is beneficial for mental and physical health, as well as building positive connections between residents in the house. Frances House is trauma-informed service and endeavours to give the women opportunities for personal agency over their own space
About the role
You will work alongside our Wellbeing Group worker to support the delivery of these sessions. Tasks may include:
- Maintaining and improving the beauty of our outdoor garden space.
- Supporting the facilitation of gardening activities which could include planting and nurturing trees, bushes, flowers, shrubs and other greenery.
- Tasks may also include other landscaping activities such as building rockeries, shelters, etc.
- Helping to create wellbeing areas in the garden which might include herb gardens, vegetable patches or sheltered quiet spaces.
- Providing supportive encouragement, enabling residents to recognise their self-worth, gain self-confidence and improve their social skills.
- Supporting clients to learn practical skills that may lead to voluntary work or employment.
- Carrying out standard gardening maintenance including cutting the grass, managing weed control and leaf raking.
- Explore possibility of using garden materials for therapeutic craft activities.
- Providing guidance to the team on matters related to the garden.

What can you expect to be doing?
As a flexible role, you have the choice to be involved in the following:
- face-to-face fundraising – organising or helping with fundraising events, attending supermarket collections and monitoring collection boxes.
- online fundraising – assisting with online appeals, increasing social media engagement to maximise funds raised.
- bringing new ideas! We always love to come up with new ideas to raise funds for cats and we’d love to help bring yours to life.
- engaging with your local branch and Fundraising Hub and feeling like an integral part of the team.

We provide support and guidance from our National Cat Centre and through our regional and local volunteer groups and teams. We offer engaging online and face-to-face training, expenses and have policies and processes to help volunteers get the most out of their time with us.

This volunteer role is designed to provide vital operational and logistical support to the CEO’s Personal Assistant, ensuring that both day-to-day and ad hoc matters requiring a physical presence or UK-based coordination are managed smoothly. As the CEO’s primary PA is remote, this role will act as an essential on-the-ground extension of the executive support function, helping to manage communications, logistics, administrative tasks, and in-person coordination.

Key Responsibilities
Operational Support (In-Office & On-Site)
- Serve as the local point of contact for tasks requiring physical presence – such as receiving mail, managing office-based documents, collecting/delivering resources, and setting up meeting spaces.
- Assist in coordinating in-person meetings, events, and visits, ensuring smooth logistics and professional presentation.
- Support the maintenance of filing systems and physical records in alignment with digital processes.
Remote Administrative Support
Assist the Personal Assistant with diary management, follow-ups, and meeting coordination.
- Draft correspondence, schedule appointments, and prepare briefings or summaries as needed.
- Maintain records, digital filing, and update cloud-based systems (e.g. Microsoft 365, Teams, SharePoint).
Communication & Liaison
- Support communication between the CEO's office, staff, volunteers, trustees, and external stakeholders – particularly where in-person contact or faster turnaround is beneficial.
- Relay key information between the remote PA and UK-based teams or partners in a timely and professional manner.
General Tasks
Assist with preparing for workshops, club events, and community engagements.
